Felpurr watches as the Izzet mage examines the artifact.
"I was an interesting battle, to say the least. More than one time, when we defeated one of the small constructs, it added itself to one of the others. And the big thing controlling them had a couple of nasty-looking swords. Or rather, both of the big things had two nasty-looking swords."
Felpurr watches for the Izzet's reaction to what he has said.

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
"That sounds like van-Drez, the whole modular-like aspect. That must have been fascinating to watch," he says, "and the swords... were they blue and red, or black and white?"
"Two of each," says Lars.
"We've seen them before too. Other artificers have copied the design since van-Drez," he says, almost dismissively. He examines the teleporter closely. "But this looks like something new of his."
In response to Aggron's second question, "It doesn't seem like everything's melted in here, but it looks like many components have become fused."
He sits back down, and sighs, "We can try to copy the design, but really, the damage inside this thing is extensive."
The Izzet nodded. "I could probably give you 120 gold for it," he says.
"Forty gold apiece? Bugger that," Lars says, grabbing his pack to put the artifact away.
"Alright!" the Izzet lurched forward, obviously not wanting to lose this item. "One-fifty. That's fifty gold each. It's really damaged, it'll take a lot out of us to get anything useful."
Lars looks at the artifact, then back at Felpurr and Aggron, "I think I can go with that. Lads?"
Felpurr looks at the other two, and nods his head.
"I can agree to that."

Aggron carefully directs his thought-speech to Felpurr and Lars, not the Izzet.
<We are so getting ripped off here. If they make that thing work again, they'll make a mint. One-fifty is a flash in the pan compared to the money a working teleporter could bring in.> Aggron considers. <Still, it's a gamble on their part. If they can't make it work, they're out a pretty big sum. You guys sure you don't want to hold out for more?>
Felpurr looks directly at Aggron, and gives a slight shake of his head.

The Izzet man shakes his hand, and counts out the gold on the table. "Thank you very much," he says. "I hope we can get something useful out of it."
He picks up the device. "If you're interested in our progress on this thing, ask for Draexin. I'd be willing to update you on the progress."
Lars divvys the gold out to Felpurr and Aggron.
