Now, best of luck to all involved.

Never forget: there's always someone bigger, better and stronger than you.
Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.
"Cat got your tongue?" Goday asks Damus, flashing a crystalline grin once again. "I don't blame you," he glances at Empty Square, "That suit is rather loud."
He let's out a laugh, and stands up, grabbing his walking stick. "Well, let's step outside, and I can fill you in on the details." He starts to hobble with surprising speed to the door.
Damus comes to the realization that he's being spoken to. "You'll have to pardon my manners, I'm very sorry. This is all very exciting for me, but I'll make a better attempt to pay attention in the future." Damus begins to try and keep up with their suprisingly nimble host. "Please go on with the details, sir."
He's merely walking at a brisk walking speed, it's just surprising speed for someone this old.
"Oh, all I said was it was loud. I didn't say I didn't like it," Goday says to Empty Square, grinning again. He turns to the north exit from the town, "Anyway, you and your anonymous friend here will be traveling North out of town, towards a town named Calemain. Calemain's a hub for three trade routes to the north, and therefore a major target for bandits. The local guards usually deal with them rather easily, but these ones are mages. Damn powerful ones at that."
Goday looked impressed. "And I see you survived," he smiles once again. "The folks at Calemain will be happy I'm sending them a seasoned veteran." He thumps Damus in the stomach, and jabs a finger at Empty Square. "Pay attention to that one. You could learn something from him."
Damus, slightly embarrassed at how infantile he must seem to these more experienced people, begins to wonder who this "great Ertai" is.
"Yes sir, learning is a large part of why I'm here. Thank you again for the oppurtunity. And thank you Mr....Square; in advance, for enduring a newcomer such as myself."
Goday continued. "The folks at Calemain will fill you in more thoroughly once you get there. They hinted to me that they know where the bandit camp is; there are a series of caves in the nearby mountains, and they've been sending scouts to check them out. They're pretty stealthy, from what I hear."
Goday paused at the gate leaving the city, and looked at the two mages. "Anything else you guys need to know before you get underway?"
Goday grins, "Good luck to you, then," he says, and starts to turn back to the tavern.
Before he goes a single step, he snaps his fingers. "You might need this," he says, and hands Empty Square a small piece of paper. It has no text, but it does have a series of patterns that match some of the patterns on his artificial eye. "Give that to a guy named 'Kjell.' He's the mayor. That'll tell him I sent you."
Expanded the trip a bit. Sorry, was a bit feverish when I wrote this originally.
Also, now I actually have something for you to react to. Sorry about the delay. We will now continue with your regularly scheduled program.
Goday says his farewells, wishes you luck, and returns to the bar with his high-speed hobble as you set out. The trip is relatively uneventful; you meet a few other travelers coming the other way, and three carts of supplies and ore. You do notice one of the carts has a nasty scorch mark down one side.
After a few hours, you spot Calemain as you crest a hill. It looks less than an hour away, which is good because sunset appears to be approaching; you estimate that should you maintain this pace, you should get there just before dark. The city is not that impressive overall, with a decent rock wall surrounding it, and four major gates leading off it; the one closest to you is the entrance you're heading to, two of the others are leading into the mountains, and the last leads out to the east skirting the foothills.
As you travel down the hill, you see a bright orange light flare in the distance, on the road leading north into the mountains, and fade. The bandits might just have struck again, or someone was slightly overenthusiastic with lighting their campfire for the evening. You can't tell from this distance.
You approach the gate, and the faint smell of tobacco fills your nostrils. Its source becomes apparent as you get closer: the man relaxing against the city wall is smoking a cigarette he probably rolled himself. The other man is a shorter, stockier gentleman. Could be a tall dwarf, or a short human. You can't tell, and the beard isn't revealing any secrets either way. This one looks at you both with a glower.
"We were sent here by a man named Goday." Empty Square reaches into his pocket and withdraws the piece of paper Goday gave him. "We're supposed to give this to the mayor."
The relaxing man propels himself off the wall with his shoulders once Goday is mentioned. The short man, on the other hand, grabs the card, looks at it, and holds it back, saying, "What do you call these scribbles, th—"
The other man snaps the card out of his companion's hand, and looks at it. "Mr. Dent sent you?" he asks them.

Turning to Damus, he says, "That sounded a bit too much like a sales pitch. They probably think we're like the Orkin Man."
