Hero (n.) <heer-oh> - someone who gets involved in a lot of insane events and that turn out well because or despite of them.

Do you start below Amatuer at everything but Unarmed? If so you can only level up stuff you put aspects in, that makes sense, but can you put more than one aspect point in a single weapon type? If so, does that allow you to skip the BPs you need to go up that level?

On a starting character, you can put up to two affinity points on any particular weapons class, resulting in you being Novice (lvl 1) of the class. If you gain additional affinity points through other means, they can be applied to the weapons class, which will let you skip the BPs you need for the level. Subsequent BP requirements would be reduced be the minimum for the level you skipped.

So, you have three Affinity Points to start with. And you can only assign two of those to any one Weapon Class as a starting character. But later on, you can use additional Affinity Points to automatically bump a Weapon Class you have skill of Novice or higher in to the next level?
So....if you only use two Affinity points as a starting character to boost a single weapon class, you could, if you really wanted, use your spare third one immediately after creation to do to the level beyond Novice?
Also. If you just continually fight with a weapon of a certain class, do you eventually gain proficiency in it even if you never spend an Affinity point?
Also. When leveling up Weapon Class with BPs, do you need the full amount to get to any one level, or just the different between two levels? For example. You spend two points to become a Novice Chain user, which if you had only spent 1 Affinity Point you would have needed 25 BPs for. By being a Novice Chain user, are you considered to actually have those 25 BPs already for the purpose of working towards Proficient and therefore only need 65 more BPs to reach that level? Or does spending Affinity Points on Weapon Classes beyond the first point totally suck.
So when can they be used? Just to lay it all out for you, it is very easy to become a master Unarmed Fighter.
You spend none of your Affinity Points, then get 25 BPs for Unarmed. Once you have done that, you can use your three starting Affinity Points and the extra one from hitting Experianced to go straight to Master Unarmed.
Unspent affinity points can be used to open a new weapons class, a new spell art, or improve a spell art. That way you can get a feel for your character and start with, say, just an affinity to one art, rather than setting them solidly in stone.
Problem solved, Gato. I edited the Affinity Points post so that points unspent at character creation can only be used to add on a new weapons class, or be used on spell arts. So the trick you just lined out can't be used anymore.

2. Could a char be, say half one of the 3 races you've brought over and half of another one you didn't but is a not uncommon fantasy race?
Some people will see where I am going with this

2. Certainly! If we like the race enough, we'll incorporate it.
And I see where you're going, you evil man!

If you tried to fight with a weapon that you have no affinity points with, you could get your butt kicked because you don't know how to use it.
The difference between two levels. Nobody is forcing you to play here if you don't like the rules.
I figured that any unspent starting affinity points were lost. It's not?
