A jovial place to be regardless of the day, the Drunken Ass is the social heart of the city. Set down a road from Market Square, it bustles night and day with activities and regulars, who share drinks and tales. The food is not that bad, all things considered.
Setting in from beneath a woodcut rendition of a donkey with a hoof on a barrel of ale, one is greeted with a small cloakroom, adjoining which is a room of chamber pots. Between is a door that needs to the bar proper; immediately on your left is the bar, a long wooden affair that seems the victim of many idle daggers and slammed tankards. Virgis, the middle-aged bartender, stands behind, often in conversation with one of the bar regulars, or a traveller returned from great adventure.
The rest of the bar is taken up by several small tables, which seat anywhere from two to six persons. A few of these tables are by the plate glass wndows, and a fair few more in the shadowy corners. Two cheerful braziers crackle throughout the day, keeping the bar pleasantly warm even in the harshest of winters.
The ale is strong, the prices are fair, and the bar wench - Virgis's cousin Anna - is attractive but sharp. A redhead who does not tolerate unwanted advances in a lady-like manner.

Darren found his way to the Tavern with Harek's instructions, walking in and smiling immediately. It was a good deal nicer than most of the bars in Elexia, much quieter. Nodding to himself he headed for the bar and found an unnoccupied stool.
Virgis chuckled and picked a half-pint tankard from beneath the bar. He opened the tap and poured a good glass, with only a small head of foam. He set it on the bar and slid it across to Darren.
"Anything else I can do for ye'?"

That said, the man seemed to spend the next half hour or so spilling as much on himself, maybe more, than he got down his neck. Seemed to be hitting him quite hard, too.
Virgis let him at it. If Darren got smashed, his bouncers would drag him out back and splash him with cold water in the morning. If he started a fight, well, that's something else.

**Dodger slowly opened the door to the Ass, with the city on lockdown he would keep his sanity here. He passed by the cloak room, apparently not wanting to remove his garment. He took a seat at the bar.**

Virgis- "Afternoon, lad. What can I do you for?"
Virgis- "Port Grog. Cheap, dirty, an' hard."
"Anything else I can do for ye'?"
Darren smiled and took a few large gulps of the drink, spilling almost half of it on his shirt and cloak as he did so.
The barkeep unconciously fingered a stain on the bar as he spoke. Probably from Port Grog.

Wouldn't happen to be able to get some water could I?

Virgis moved down the line and tapped a glass from a barrel along the bar, one filled with ice water, and set the cup down before Rone.
"Ye' elf folk don't like ale, I take it?"

Virgis- "Evenin' lad, what can I get for ye?"
**While he waited, Dodger casually scanned the tavern for any persons gambling.**

Virgis went to get his cider.
Not that we don't like it or anything, I just don't like to be drunk. Not fun times.

As far as Dodger could tell, the game was Poker for minor stakes; no more than 50 gold was ever in the pot for the few rounds he watched.

"And what to drink, then? We've got nothing really in the way of juice, but I have a berry wine or two."
