Cerwen was surely not going to just wait for them to come out. She slowly moves towards the first door, silent on unclad feetsies. Listening for movement.
As she pressed her ear up against the door, it gently swung back and forth. It appeared as though nobody was in the room, as there was no light coming from underneath it. She was ready to move on to the third door when she heard footsteps. The thrid door swung open but the person hadn't moved out of it yet.
The floor was covered in dust and she had to contain a sneeze as it filled her nostrils. The footsteps came closer and finally passed down the hallway. Something else followed it and it sounded like metal grinding on metal. She heard someone yell from the room adjacent, "Everybody get out now. We have urgent matters to attend to." It sounded like one of the Immortalis. More footsteps, this time much more hurried.
The girl frowned and looked around the room she was now in. First for places to hide, mostly for information, to get ready to move on and get closer to the meeting.
The room was too dark to find anything useful but she could here the Immortalis yelling in the next room, "That was too close. Why didn't you feel that earlier?" Again, the grinding of metal upon metal followed by a different voice, "Well excuse me for not taking the necessary precautions. In case you haven't noticed, our supply is running low!"
"Make haste" commanded a female voice, undoubtedly Kamala. Cerwen heard the sound of fluid running and then the metal grinding ceased. Again, Kamala spoke, "don't ever compromise our situation like that ever again!"
She could hear one of the Immortalis leaving the room, likely to fetch the rest of the elders. Her suspicious were confirmed when nermerous footsteps could e heard entering the room. Kamala spoke, "Sorry for the intermission. Where were we? I believe we were discussing the new technologies..."
There were footsteps running into the room. A panting man was speaking, "I'm sorry to disturb you, but we have reason to believe that there has been a breach in security. It could have been recently or it could have been a while ago, we are not sure, but the guards have seen someone tracking in chalk from the lobby."
With horrific realization, she noticed some on the bottom of her cuff. Some had worn off and it was clear that there was more there at an earlier time. A good guard would notice that the trail lead right to where she was currently hiding.
The room has no available places, just some small cans and a few books stacked in the corner. As the footsteps of a few (3 or 4?) approached the door, Cerwen knew that she was hopelessly vulnerable.
Cursing to herself. How could she possibly be that stupid? She looks up to see if there may be a vent somewhere to circulate air. Or a window. Or any option other than to get caught. And if no option is available, she quickly hides behind where the door will swing.
"In here" said a muffled voice as the door opened, thankfully not swinging with too much force. The guard lit a match and moved it to the ground, examining it for any signs of Cerwen's error. "They're in here, alright. I don't see anything indicating that they left."
Cerwen's heart beat with an intensity matched only by when she was listening to the speech earlier that evening. Someone else burst through the door, closing it and staring at the hiding infiltrator. Staring deep into Cerwen's eyes with conviction was Kamala.
Cerwen was hoping there was signs of her leaving, or something to that effect. But no, she gets caught. She flinches as she's stared at, unable to say anything.
It was unsurprising that Kamala's public speeches were filled with men in the audience. She was truly stunning and emanated a sense of seduction. Her black hair was surprisingly neat given the angered state that Cerwen had heard moments ago and a long black gown adorned her, contouring to her body like only a custom garment could. With surprising calm, she asked the intruder, "Who are you and why are you here?"
Gulping for a moment, Cerwen speaks. Quietly, embarrassed and worried about what will happen. "Cerwen... I heard the speech outside, and wanted to find out what I could do to help."
Kamala motioned for the guards to retreat and leave her alone in the room with Cerwen. The Immortalis bent down and brought her face within inches of Cerwen's, to the point where the intruder could smell the perfume on the (much) older woman. The sweat was pouring off of Cerwen as she figured that her life was nearing its end. Still with a calm voice but with a hint of conviction, Kamala advised her, "If you want to help, you follow orders."
