Motivational speeches had no effect on Zyl. He was a killing machine; the only thing he had ever known and the only thing he could do was taking lives. When he appeared at the enlistment station, the guard simply nodded and he proceeded through, picking up his armor and shield without any questions asked. Even during the times when there was no war, he still came here every day to train and sometimes to witness the executions of blasphemers. He warily noted the other anxious recruits signing up for what would be called the Great War but he had no time and no patience to deal with them. Instead Zyl made his way to a familiar place, the training facilities.
Zyl steps forward into the training ground, walking toards the sparring area. He walks to his normal spot and stands, waiting for anyone who might feel brave enough to challenge him today... maybe one the new recruits would be so foolish.

"We don't use spears in sparring pracitce," Zyl sneered at the newbie. "But i'm looking for someone to keep me in shape, so you'll do for now." Zyl motions him to a clear area and gets into a fightning stance.

The eager fighter lowered himself and checked over his shoulder to ensure that the guards were watching him. He looked fearless but it was mystery if his walk could match his talk.

Agility was the younger man's greatest asset and he had already picked up two wooden swords, dual wielding them with one in each hand, one upright and one upside-down. He darted toward Zyl and spun, bringing the upside down one towards him with considerable speed and the upright one prone to follow.
Zyl smiles as he swings his shield up to deflect the first blade, and draws his (wooden) axe from it's sheath (behind the shield) to block the second with the curved end, and yank it out wards and attemt to follow through with a shield bash.
I was hoping it would be possible for me to have a small axe and a crossbow sheathed on the back of the shield. If it's not, slap me and I'll edit. Or just slap me for fun lolz

The youngster noticed the shield coming toward him and placed two feet on it, jumping off of it and landing someone awkwardly. It was the best he could've done in the circumstances, but he now had troubles standing on his left foot.
OOC: Throwing axe is okay, but no crossbow on the back of a shield.

With a surge of energy, the young fighter parried the axe but was in no shape to stop a large charging man. He put up his swords in self defence but was knocked backward by Zyl's sheer strength, leaving a skid in the soft ground beneath them.

"That all you got little boy? I haven't even gotted started having fun." Zyl waits for his opponent to make the next move, still in a defensive stance.

He took a deep breath, "All I've got? Why would I waste any energy on the warmup. Shall we start the party?"
His were firmly clasped in his hands before he whispered "let's do this" to nobody in particular. With a renewed sense of confidence, he hurled one of his swords at Zyl's head.
Zyl simply ducked under his shield rather than lose his portection from the yound man. "It's not a waste of energy if your preparing to kill the enemey. It helps test your limits. You know your limits right?"

"It's hard to know them when you're limitless!" he yelled as he charged at Zyl, both hands on the base of his sword and ready to drive it into the opponent.

In an unexpected move, the student slunk down and slid, still being carried forward by his momentum. Zyl didn't have time to bring his shield flush to the ground before the younger man slid past him, smacking his ankle as he did so and making Zyl go down on one knee.
OOC: SO my axe hits him in the face instead of the stomach? Edit may be required?
Zyl laughed at the young man. "You're show of grace is excellent, but don't count on that to save you in real batlle." Zyl threw his shield at the youth as he slid to a predicatable stop, careful only to hit him in the torso. "Never sacrifice your defense for a wounding blow, only a killing one."

The axe landed on the young man, pinning him to the ground and immobilizing him completely. He let out a grunt of pain and a curse of frustration before relaxing and accepting his defeat.
OOC: the initial axe would have flown just above him.

Between deep breaths, he tried to explain, "Simply that I'm ready for battle! You see-"
The young fighter was cut off by a spectator's clapping. When he spoke, his voice was monotone, "Well done. I'm very impressed." The man's tone of voice was cold and solemn, considering that what he was saying as congratulatory. With a sudden burst of realization, Zyl realized who the spectator was. The Immortalis, Frohirim, stood before them.
