The church's guest quarters had long been occupied and it was far too late to beckon on any of her peers. Her room was all the way on the other side of the city, a far and tiring walk from her current position.
A new guard was ready to stop her at the entrance to the quarters but Nurina showed him the royal marking on the crossbow and he stepped aside, flushed and apologizing.
The door opened slowly and Coliveri groggily motioned for her to enter. Trying to disguise his fatigue, he closed the door and teased her, "I'll just assume you've come here to apologize. Apology accepted."
Nurina looks quite surprised. "Well, that. Yeah. That's pretty much what I want to say." She shifts uncomfortably on her feet. "And-another thing is-I don't have anywhere to sleep tonight. Not one that I can reach easily, though." She adds hastily.
Faking displeasure was never his strongest attribute. A smile, barely visible could be seen creeping onto his lips, "Excuses, excuses."
It didn't take long for the 'aware' soldier to notice that Nurina had been firing the crossbow, "What'd you think?"
"This? Oh, it's good. At this rate, I WILL run out of bolts soon." She thinks for a moment. "No, wait. I think the range will run out of targets first. Oh well," she shrugs. "There are always trees, rocks,"-here she sneaks a glance at Coliveri-"Nomeni..."
Staring back at her, he replied with a straight face, "Keep on dreaming, hun."
With a sigh, he sat on the edge of his bed, "believe it or not, I've had a long day. I'd tell you to leave me alone and let me sleep, but it seems that you even somehow find me in my dreams."
A malicious chuckle came out, "well in my dreams I had slit your throat, and that was thoroughly more amusing." He tried to look evil and menacing but he couldn't hide that he was joking, "make yourself at home... sleep wherever you want."
Nurina looks sincerely grateful, or as grateful as a person can get with a mask covering half her face. "Thanks, Coliveri." She takes off the mask and stows it in one of the compartments of her bag. Shifting it next to her head, she settles down on the floor, hands clasped behind her head.
Coliveri shoots a quick glance at Nurina, hoping she wouldn't notice. It's been a while since I've had a girl stay the night here he thinks to himself. Moving to a more comfortable position, he grabs a pillow and tosses it at Nurina, a playful gesture but a functional one. "You're sure you'll be alright down there? I wouldn't want you to have any excuses about sleeping on a hard surface when you're shooting targets tomorrow."
The words were barely heard as Coliveri had also drifted asleep. In his sleep, there were no more dreams of Nurina... it was hard to dream about someone when they were already so close by.
Nurina's sleep was filled with images of shattered targets and fierce battles. Not to mention a few gags on the pillow's owner.
OOC: (which is probably a good idea for me as well. It's nearly 5:00 in the morning *yawn*)
The morning was bitterly cold as it was somewhat overcast. A cold breeze was blowing and even though Coliveri's quarters were well contained within the church, the small window seemed to let in the cold.
Nurina awoke to find that a blanket had been laid upon her and that Coliveri was nowhere to be found.
Yet another guard was standing at the entrance to the quarters and he stopped her. She prepared to show him the crossbow yet again but he handed her a note. It was from Coliveri.
Nurina,
I do hope that you're well rested. I took the liberty of placing a blanket on you, as you were shaking last night. Hopefully you weren't dreaming of me too much.
It seems that the target maker went on a bit of a binge last night and there's an overabundance of them. I informed him that you would be sure to help correct the problem while I'm off fighting Nomeni and saving our people.
I won't leave for a a little while, though and if you want to bid me farewell before I go, meet me in the garden.
"He's not one to give up easily, is he?" Nurina muses, earning herself an odd look from the guard. "Never mind then. Thanks," she says to the guard, "I'll get going now." She heads in the direction of the garden, letter in hand.
She found Coliveri sitting and swinging his blade, getting himself warmed up for the day ahead. There were 4 other men in the garden, they must have been Coliveri's regiment. When he saw her, he spoke before she could, "I know what you came here to say... and I know you'll miss me."
She laughs. "That's funny. I was going to say the same thing myself, but since you've already said it, I guess there's nothing more." She turns and leaves the garden. As she passes through the archway, she reaches into her pocket and tips out a scope, then looks back at Coliveri with a straight face. Chuckling inwardly, she turns the corner and cotinues walking.
The other guys in the garden laughed and didn't stop when Coliveri tried to silence them. One of them muttered "smooth" under his breath. Coliveri ran and caught up to Nurina, grabbing her hand and pulling her back. "Okay, I think it's time to for you to meet the people you'll be fighting with..."
He rolled his eyes and corrected himself, "did I say fighting? I meant that our cook dropped out at the last minute and we needed a replacement."
All joking aside, he started to introduce the 4 members. The first as a short man with dark brown hair and a long beard. He carried an axe and was heavily armoured. Coliveri introduced him, "This is Gurimiel, our demo man." Gurimiel tipped his mask to her.
The second was an older man, holding the hand of the third, an older woman. They were similar heights and Coliveri introduced them, "This is Ronah and his wife Junor." They both nodded and smiled at her as he tucked his dual rapiers away and she put her bow on her shoulder.
The last one was a slender and very young boy who eagerly introduced himself, "And I'm Wilt." He offered a hand to Nurina, "I'm brand new and I'll be our scout."

Not hearing anything, and also tired from the day's activity, Nurina also falls asleep.
