"well, Endri, my name is Jaret, as to why i saved you, i can't guess why, except for the fact that i couldn't stand seeing the harass you in that way. now you better come clean with your story or i might start regretting saving you"
Endri placed a hand on Jaret's shoulder, "I've done some things I've regretted, and if you knew what they were, you would regret saving me. I'm sorry, but you cannot know. Maybe when we're closer and you understand that I've changed, but until then I shall keep it to myself. I apologize."
"hmm well, i guess everyone has a right to a couple of secrets, by the way, we seem to be running low on oxygen, i'm going to surface and refill, okay?" Jaret begins moving the orb of air closer to the surface, finally breaking it, he takes this chance to take a look around
The sight was a little bit daunting as Endri surfaced, clinging onto Jaret's shoulders. "I forgot to mention that I'm not a very good swimmer" she said before pointing out the obvious, "Wow... we're quite a ways out. I can't even see the shoreline. Did you mean to take us this far?"
"i meant to hide us, and if we can't see the shoreline, they can't see us, that's good, and don't worry, i should be able to keep us afloat, but i don't know, i'm quite tired right now"
Suddenly, Endri tapped frantically on Jaret's shoulder, silently indicating that a boat was coming toward them. He wondered why she was so concerned until he realized that it was the boat of the law enforcement.
"oh ****" Jaret said under his breath as he rapidly submerged the two agian "i don't know how long they'll look for us but i don't think it'll be just a cursory glance let's see what i can do with this thing" Jaret tried to move the bubble of air back towards any kind of land, all the while keeping an eye on the boat's hull
In the direction hey were travelling, he could see the hull of yet another boat. When Jaret turned to find an alternate route, he saw another. They were out in full force tonight, and the officer that he ran from must have notified the coastal police.
"well, that's just peachy" jaret said, "Listen Endri, i don't know how we're gonna make it out of here, i'm going to try something, but if that dosen't work, we may be caught okay?"
Jaret worked on creating a geyser of water in the opposite direction that they were traveling, trying to distract the police
A few of the fleet moved to the geyser, but some of them stayed back. Clearly they were well trained in ignoring distractions. Endri tapped on Jaret's shoulder and was pointing rapidly. "Down."
They had seemingly escaped as they dove. When Jaret started to move laterally under away from the surveillance, he noticed that something was wrong. Very wrong... he couldn't move. A current was pulling them further down, against his will.
It wasn't long until they picked up velocity, cruising through the water at a remarkable rate. Not far ahead, Jaret could see some formations or ice or something that resembled it. As the oxygen diminished and her heart pace quickened, Endri began fading.
Jaret made some water and threw it over her face in short intervals, in an effort to keep her conscious, that being done, at the same time, he tried to lift them in depth, trying to get to the surface
The girl shook her head as she awoke, clenching onto Jaret as they plunged deeper and deeper into the water, "I'm so scared! Why are you doing this for me?! I don't even know who you are! I'm so sorry for bringing you into this."
"i'll explain later, don't waste your breath" Jaret said he kept looking for some kind of tunnel or something that looked like it was going towards the surface
Going up was no use. Whatever was pulling them was resolute. They kept being pulled down together before they felt a bizarre sensation. They could breathe, even though they were surrounded by water.
He could see the dim outlines of... something. They were far away and refracted, but they looked like very bizarre coral formations. Endri was breathing heavily as they slowly became suspended in the water, not moving down anymore. She held onto Jaret tightly, "are you doing this or can I actually breathe underwater?"
The two companions drifted slowly until they felt sand underfoot. Endri was calming by now, still clutching onto Jaret as though her life depended on it.
The sand beneath his feet squished as he felt his wet clothing began to cling to him, ultimately slowing down his progress through the oxygenated water.
