Sylvia looked at her and offered her hand. "I know.. it's different from what you're used to.. but I'm a scientist. I'm not very religious.. but this trip has strengthened my faith in the gods, that's for sure.." She smiled, still walking on.
Eri looked at the adjunct's hand with trepidation then looked back at into her eyes, not reaching for Sylvia's hand, "sorry if I'm being weird. It's just... you've changed me more than you could ever know." She hurriedly added, "in a good way, I think."
Sylvia waved it off, smiling and laughing a little. "Oh, Eri, it's nothing, really.. I mean, if it's important to you, then okay.. but what's most important to me aren't the teachings of Nomeni. It's my friends.. and my family. The ones I love and need. That's all."
Sylvia laughed and nudged Abeo. "Of course not. We would never betray our friends.. I wouldn't." She looked at Eri and bit her lip. "You don't have any regrets by coming with us.. do you?"
The Sancti hesitated for a moment and looked up at Sylvia, "no, I might be nervous and confused, but I'm certainly not regretful." She smiled warmly, "thanks for everything... well... almost everything."
Sylvia smiled and shrugged, looking down. "Good.. good." She bit her lip. She hadn't meant to upset Eri like that. She felt bad that she had such a bad experience with her body. It had traumatized her.
Abeo was still chuckling behind them, delighting in Eri's lack of knowledge about her whilst Sylvia wondered what Eri would do if she found out what Abeo truly was.
Sylvia wasn't worried. She was focused mainly on finding Moroy. Once they saved him, everything else would seem a lot easier. He was her only support, besides, Abeo. Eri was still new, and a good friend, but Sylvia needed him.
Abeo spoke softly from behind her, tentatively but assertively, "Sylvia, I know you're excited about finding Moroy again, but... here's a chance... well..." She took a deep breath and quickened her steps to stand beside the girl, "what if he's changed?"
Sylvia looked back for a moment and shook her head. As much as she wanted Abeo to be wrong, she might be right. She shook her head again and kept going. "He's still my Moroy.. I don't care. I have to save him. I love him.." She said, convincing herself.
"I know you do, but I don't want to see you cling on to the past" softly whispered Abeo, treading carefully on the sensitive subject, "I'm sure nothing has changed and he'll still be the man that you fell in love with. Just don't put yourself in a position to get hurt, alright babe?"
Sylvia nodded and frowned a little. "I know.. but.. we'll see when we see him.. I don't care, I just want to see him.. I'll be happy enough with that," She resolved.
Abeo reached forward and pulled Sylvia into a quick hug, "alright, babe. Hopefully he doesn't mind me..." Eri let out an audible gasp, "you can't tell him that I'm Sancti!"
Sylvia hugged Abeo tightly and shook her head. "Don't worry, you two.. I'm going to tell him you're friends.. trusted friends. That's all he needs to know right now." She smiled.
Abeo winked at the adjunct, carefully eyeing the Sancti, "hopefully I'll make a better first impression on him than I did on you." Eri interjected quickly with an intrigued squeal, "oh dear, how did she rub you at first?"
Sylvia chuckled and looked over at Eri. She didn't want to really divulge Abeo's origins now to her, but at a more comfortable time when they could discuss it with a more even head. Still, it was a valid question.
"Well.. needless to say she scared me and Etna almost to death, and I wanted to kill Abeo right there, but.. she warmed up to us within the day or so."
Sylvia blushed a little and laughed it off. "Oh, it's mere coincidence, I assure you. After all, the Dead Zone is a dangerous place!" She chuckled and took Abeo's hand, looking at her. They had been dawdling even at this pace. She wanted to find Moroy, and now.
The shapeshifter nodded in silent understanding, smiling assuredly as she gave Eri a swift pat on the rear, "alright, time to pick up the pace. As interesting as we pretend to be, I know Sylvia really only has one thing on her mind."
Sylvia smirked as Eri jumped at the pat on her behind. Sylvia took the lead, hiking ahead and scanning all around. She felt her heart ache. Etna was gone.. and they had been so close. She had to find Moroy.. and she had to find him now. She tried to look for a cave.. anything that looked like the vision she had when she spoke with Death.
