Thellotar shook his head. "No, no, I'm perfectly fine. It was nothing" He shrugged. "Thanks for that, Aleandra." He nervously walked back toward the cart, stopping near the front. He was still feeling a little woozy. At least he was okay. As long as they weren't suspicious.
By the way, you just spent several days loading these wagons. They're kind of full, so the people who are "in" them may wish to edit their posts a bit...
Nevin glanced back once to see that everyone was in adequate guarding positions, then turned back to the road ahead. "Keep a watch out to the sides," he called. "This is the dangerous bit."
They had walked for a couple of miles, out of the farmland and into one of the copses of woods they had seen on the way out, when four crossbow bolts came out of the trees at Nevin. None of the recruits saw clearly what he did, but there was a sizzle and a boom and four shattered crossbow bolts fell to the ground. "Nice try, you filthy bastards," Nevin snarled. "Recruits, we're under attack!"
This'll heat up as soon as I know everyone's guard positions, which can't include inside the wagons.Edit your posts and prepare for battle!

Suven whipped his weapons off of his belt and held them at the ready. He quickly checked up on his grip on each of them and rotated his sword just a little bit so that it would make the correct angle with his arm when he swung it. He then looked around frantically for the alleged attackers, he hadn't gotten the slightest impression that there was anyone else here until he had heard Nevin's shout.
My position was pin-pointed in my post above. Just making sure that you did notice mine ;).
Sammy focused on the wind around him "Liya get behind me, It doesn't seem like you're in a position to fight" Sammy then focused on the wind around him with one hand, to try to protect from incoming arrows. With the other hand, he began to take out his bow.
"I'll be able to back you up with some magic." Liya says to Sammy as she stands just a few paces behind him, not even confident that she was really in the state to use the magic.
She tries to form a ball of liquid water and yes, in her hand forms a ball of swirling liquid, ready to be formed into any shape and state when Liya wills it.
"Oh. Wonderful." Bellamin moved behind Sueven and Jadyn to avoid melee combat, and nocked an arrow on his bow, casting about to see who and where the assailants were.
Thellotar ran to a spot near Bellamin, Sueven, and Jadyn, hoping to avoid clumping together with them to make easy targets while staying on the lookout for anything bent on taking his, or one of the other's, life. His hair stood on end, his body alive with static. His eyes narrowed, searching out among the distance for anyone, anything, that could be behind this. They would pay dearly.
Jadyn, you can use your sword either way. If you've trained for one-handed and use it two-handed...you'll have problems. But you CAN, if you want.
The next attack came for Jadyn. This one wasn't crossbow bolts, but was instead a spear of ice that came hurtling from the trees. With another curse, Nevin extended his hand and shattered the spear in midflight with a narow burst of lightning.
A snarl emanated from the trees, followed by another four bolts aimed at various parts of Nevin, who made a chopping motion with his hands and smashed them all with one bolt of lightning. "Show yourselves!" the officer snarled.
"Why would we do that?" another voice echoed from the trees."
"Because," Nevin answered, "if you don't, I'll burn your whole stinking forest to the ground and your own miserable hides will be cooked along with it." Nevin held out his hand, clawlike, and fireball began to form inside it, glowing brighter and brighter until the recruits could no longer look at it. When he threw it into the trees, only a hastily erected shield of water stopped it from setting the copse afire.
"I don't think we'll do that," the other voice responded. "I think we will deal with your little underlings, though." Ten bandits suddenly ran from the trees, five from either side of the road. Each one was weilding a heavy mace in both hands. "Deal with us all if you can, sorceror!" the voice shrieked, filled with madness. Another ice spear came flying at Nevin.
His face twisted in concentration, Nevin shattered this spear even as he shouted at the recruits, "I'll keep the ranged ones and the mage off us! Recruits, take those lousy melee troops down!"

Suven smiles happily at the sight of them, they look rather unorganized to him. He rushes to meet the bandit running his direction. He parries the initial, clumsy blow and returns with a swing of his own mace. "Nice variation in weapon choice," he shouts at the opponents, "Didn't your leader teach you originality?"
And sadly, that will be my last post for a week, and just when the action started :(. I am going on a mission trip to Florida to work with Habitat for Humanity and will not have computer access. See you all next Monday :-/.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
Sammy eagerly stood infront of Liya to protect her from incoming anything, however he was scared because he wasnt used to the front lines. Really, he wasn't used to combat at all, the the front lines were the last place he wanted to be. Anyway, even though he was protecting Liya, he was near the back of the troup.
When Sammy saw the melee fighters coming he froze, he started to freak out, but he turned around, looked at Liya for a second in her eyes, nodded slowly, and quickly turned around. Within seconds he had calmly take out his bow and shot a sole arrow at the attacker closest to them.
"Whatever. Let's end this quickly, shall we?" Bellamin fires off an arrow towards the nearest mace-wielding bandit in range, then sheaths his bow and opens his waterskin, heating and pressurizing the water inside to make another attack.
Liya, knowing Sammy will need help lauches the orb of water at the ground in front of an attacker near the one Sammy was shooting at, willing the water to turn the ground in front of the attacker into slippy mud.
She switched her sword from her left to her right hand and stood ready to fend of any attacker that would draw near.
Thellotar braced himself for the oncoming attack, preparing to sidestep and slice at the feet in an attempt to immobilize them. He prepared to shoot sparks as well. He was ready.
Jadyn brought his sword up in a two-handed guard stance, lust like his father had taught him, using the length of his weapon to his advantage, he stayed in front of Aleandra, staying there, he attempted to parry each of his opponent's blows, Knowing it was his job to protect the healer.

He parries the initial, clumsy blow and returns with a swing of his own mace. "Nice variation in weapon choice," he shouts at the opponents, "Didn't your leader teach you originality?"
The bandit parries Suven's swing with surprising ease, then swipes again in a smooth, underhand arc.

The attacker saw the arrow coming and flinched away. It whizzed just past his shoulder. With a yell, he thrusts hard at Sammy with his mace.
"Whatever. Let's end this quickly, shall we?" Bellamin fires off an arrow towards the nearest mace-wielding bandit in range, then sheaths his bow and opens his waterskin, heating and pressurizing the water inside to make another attack.
The bandit takes the arrow in his right arm, which he had flung up to protect his face. His mace drops from his fingers as he howls in pain, more interested in his injury than in more combat.
A second bandit, however, shoves his injured companion aside and charges at Bellamin, ready to bring him down with a huge mace-swipe.

She switched her sword from her left to her right hand and stood ready to fend of any attacker that would draw near.
The bandit's foot slips, and he goes facedown in the mud, his mace flying from his fingers. One of the other bandits, however, leaps over the mud-slick and swings savagely at Liya.
Thellotar braced himself for the oncoming attack, preparing to sidestep and slice at the feet in an attempt to immobilize them. He prepared to shoot sparks as well. He was ready.
With both hands around the handle of his mace, a bandit bears down on Thellotar, prepared for a massive strike.
Harn runs over to a bandit that is busy with one of the other recruits, trying to find an opening to stick his dagger in.
Harn sticks the bandit whose arm got shot by Bellamin. The bandit collapses in a heap, and he looks either unconscoius or dead. A second bandit, however, sees Harn's actions and attacks with his own weapon, howling a war cry.
Jadyn brought his sword up in a two-handed guard stance, lust like his father had taught him, using the length of his weapon to his advantage, he stayed in front of Aleandra, staying there, he attempted to parry each of his opponent's blows, Knowing it was his job to protect the healer.
The remaining three mace-weilding bandits, heeing Jadyn unengaged and protecting someone, converge on him. Two charge him from the front, while a third tries to get behind him and attack Aleandra.
Phew, this is a big group.
By the way, judging from the responses, these bandits would appear to be incredibly stupid and clumsy fighters. They're not, actually; they're only a shade less competent than all the recruits are. Take a hit or two, people!
Nevin's fight was going rather well. Any of the recruits who were wattching could see him blasting into the trees with lightning, and the unseen water mage was forced to respond by making columns of water to ground the shocks. Finally, Nevin managed to bring his staff to bear. He sent a triple bolt into the trees--one bolt got grounded by a soaked-down tree, but the remaining ones ended in a sizzling noise as two bandit archers tumbled out of the trees. One of them landed spread-eagled and seemed merely stunned, but the other hit headfirst. The recruits could see a sliver of glistening bone where his neck had connected to his body; he was dead.

Bellamin flinches for a second, temporarily stunned by the sudden charge of the bandit, but then remembers his water flask, and with great effort, tried to use his water magic to fire a jet of the scalding water towards the approaching mace-wielder. "Do you really think you can take me? Let me give you a wake up splash!"
Thellotar laughs at the challenge. "Fine, I'll start!" Feinted to the right, he dashed left and threw sparks at the bandit. He leaped for cover in a smooth roll, preparing for strike with his dagger.
Jadyn, trying to stay in front of Aleandra, drops to a knee to potentially avoid any coming blows, he takes a massive two-handed swipe at about knee-level, directed at the two attacking him.
OOC: Well, Liya and I attacked the same bandit. My arrow missed, but Liya caused it to slip and drop its mace. So technically, I dont think I'm still being attacked. Correct?
Sammy was shocked by Liya courage, but worried as well. He prepared a gust of wind to help stop the bandit Liya was swinging at, but he noticed Aleandra next to him. He looked back and forth between her and Liya for a minute, and then shot the gust towards the bandit attacking Aleandra. The gust was not a cutting wind (If I can even do that yet), it was more focused on slowing him down/pushing him over so Aleandra takes minimum damage. Liya will be OK, it seems like she knows what she is doing with that blade.
