Welcome to Beyond the White Light, a world where the line between the worlds of the dead and the worlds of the living blends and balances. A world where the fate of the afterlife and the destiny of mankind itself is decided by the edge of a sword.
Codes of Conduct
1. Don't god-mod! There are several ways you can do things:
Quote:Average Joe runs upto the Menos Grande and draws his zanpaku-to. He jumps into the air and buries his sword into the horror's mask. The creature screams in agony and falls down to the ground.
At first, I would congratulate Average Joe for beeing the first person in history to jump several hundred feet into the air.
After that, I would delete his post and tell him to try again.
Quote:Average Joe runs upto the Menos Grande and tries to bury his zanpaku-to into the horror's foot.
Ok, so Average Joe isn't really clever, so what? At least he doesn't god-mod...
2. Post normal sentences and in third person.
Quote:I walk opto the men and say Hi nutshead, learn my some new spells, ya understand?
Two mistakes: Horrible spelling mistakes and first person view.
Quote:Saruke walks upto the man and askes "Can you teach me some new spells?"
The better way: no spelling mistakes and third person view. The latter is needed for our convenience and the convenience of the other players, so that they know your character's name at the very least.
3. Please put text when your character speaks within quotes and out of character talk in bold text or between [ooc]this[/ooc]
4. When both of the combatants know you've lost, you will have to run.
In Shingami Revised, it is possible you have to fight against other pc's, because you can be either good of evil. When a battle like this takes place and one person loses, he or she leaves the battlefield. There will be plenty of time for revenge in another battle, but you've just lost that one.
5. In Beyond the White Light (As in many other WPs), it's impossible to never get hit. It's fine to take some hits. Your character can't die unless you want to...This is also simply an accessory to the God-Mod rule. You can't dodge everything.
And when you're hit, keep in mind your character will obviously be affected by it. (When hit in the leg, he might be unable to run or something)

We have laboured long to build a heaven, only to find it populated with horrors.
The world is divided and on the brink of chaos in the physical and spiritual realms of existence.
Several groups try to put destiny into their hands, for glory, for power. Some of them good, some of them evil, some of them simply filled with madness.
Total and utter chaos looms closeby and only a few stand in the way of these forms of evil.
They are known as the Shinigami and Quincy, though they refuse to work together.
On the other side of the spectrum are other factions and races jockying for power and bloodthirst.
The most prominent are the Arrancar, Aizen Sousuke and his army of modified Hollows, and the Bountou, a vampiric race of near-immortals who use mentally-linked dolls to protect themselves. Aizen's goal is to use ten thousand souls to create a path to the leaders of Soul Society, where the deceased in the living realm all go to. His intentions are far from benign. of course.
The Bountou and their leader
Kariya Jin's goal is to break into Hueco Mundo, as the Shinigami are desperatly trying to stop both of those and keep balance in the world and the Quincy fiercely battle for the survival of their clan and their role to protect the living souls of human beings from those who may prey upon them.

We have laboured long to build a heaven, only to find it populated with horrors.
Arrancar
Arrancar were once Hollows, but because of a nefarious device that Aizen Sousuke wields, they can become pseudo-Shinigami, evil creatures known as Arrancar. Most of the Arrancar were actually once Menos Grande or some other advanced form of hollow. The Arrancar are a type of spirit. They've always got some kind of advanced body-armor, called Hierro (or "iron skin") that makes it very difficult for them to be injured. Like hollows, they've got a hole where their heart used to be. Most Arrancar wear white coats and white trousers. They also have a zanpaku-to release, but unlike the Shinigami's, when they activate that, it looks slightly different. The sword disappears, and the Arrancar is suddenly covered with some special kind of armor, that has it's own unique abilities. This is an example of a released zanpaku-to of an
Arrancar:
The armor provides new abilities to their arsenal. The names of Arrancar zanpaku-to are also generally of Spanish origin. For example, the name of the zanpaku-to on picture above is "Tijireta", which is a modification of the Spanish word for scissors.
Quincy
Quincy are special humans, and not some type of spirit like the Arrancar and Shinigami They were given the abilities at birth. The main characteristic ability of a Quincy is to create a bow out of spirit particles, and with the same spirit particles, shoot arrows of pure spirit energy. The Quincy absorb surrounding spirit particles to create their bows and arrows. They have also never been known to cooperate or really coexist with Shinigami because they disturb the natural order that the Shinigami strive to keep together. This is because when a Quincy slays a Hollow it goes absolutely nowhere, ceasing to exist, unlike a Shinigami slaying a Hollow or bad spirit, wherein it goes to the Soul Soceity or Hueco Mundo. But because the Quincy are few in numbers (as a result of Shinigami extermination campaigns, they do not form a real threat for the natural order. It takes a lot of time for a Quincy to become stronger simply because most of the knowledge of Quincy techniques were lost after the Shinigami attacks.
Shinigami
Shinigami are not very different from normal human spirits frankly. What makes them different is, is the fact their reiatsu (spirit energy) is far higher. They use their Zanpaku-to, powerful blades which are able to cut through spirits, to send human spirits into the Soul Society and kill evil spirits known as Hollows. Zanpaku-to are known to have two actual stages of release, in which the power of the zanpaku-to and that of the user drastically increase stage by stage. The first release is called "shikai", and is activated by calliing the name of the zanpaku-to. The 2nd and final release is called "bankai", and is activated simply by saying "bankai". It takes a lot of skill and experience to achieve bankai, and most Shinigami never reach this level.
Bountou
Bountou are, like the Quincy, are a specially advanced form of human. They actually have the capability to be immortal, since they feed off souls. However, their general rule is to only devour the souls of humans who are dying or near-death. This rule is often broken by many Bountou because devouring a fresh soul of a currently living creature gives them a great deal more strength. Though they can be strong and agile on their own, they all have dolls controlled to protect them, avatars one could say, or champions, with which they are mentally linked to. The dolls have no stages of release, and there is no evidence that they can or cannot be modified in any real way. But, when a Bountou's doll is destroyed, the Bountou also dies as a result, making the Bountou and their dolls very dependent on each other. Because of this it is important to keep dolls obediant and alert, a strong relationship with your doll is a bare necessity if you wish to achieve strength among the Bountou.

There are three main areas in the world of Beyond the White Light.
The Mortal world
The world of the living, the real world, the world of human beings. It's nice, but everybody has to leave it eventually. Such is mortality. When you die a Shinigami comes to preform Konsoh one you (read: they send you to Soul-society). In Beyond the White Light, there are so far three major parts of the Mortal World. Hueco Mundo
The evil world of Hollows (and Aizen's Arrancar army). A vast plane, covered with strange material. Hollows live here, always trying to get into the Mortal world, looking for people with high Reiratsu. Something you should look at, if you ever make there alive, is Aizen's palace. It's basically a huge towering structure of gleaming white stone. Nothing truly fancy, but it's a better sight then the gloom and doom of the average Hollow. Inside this building, Arrancar are made and trained for battle.
Soul Society
The world of Shinigami and harmless spirits, this one is divided into two main sections. First there is Rukongai, the place where harmless spirits with low Reiratsu (spirit power) live. The other part is Seireitei, the place where Shinigami live, train and make their decisions. Seireitei is the "core" of Soul Society, and has a formidable defense grid around it.

We have laboured long to build a heaven, only to find it populated with horrors.
The 4 races we have included in our WP each have their own leaders. Those leaders obviously have the edge in power and wisdom among the members of their race or class.
The Shinigami
Introduction to the Gotei 13:
The Gotei 13 is the name given to the 13 Divisions of the Shinigami in Soul Society. Anyone classified as a Shinigami is put into 1 of the 13 Divisions, whether they are a Captain or Vice-Captain, hold a Seat, or are just a member, they are still an important part of the Division.
Each Division of the Gotei 13 has a Captain and a Vice Captain, they are generally the strongest of the whole Division. To become a Captain, a Shinigami must first have achived Ban-Kai as one of the prerequisites. The Captain and Vice Captain usually travel together and get along well.
A Shinigami cannot be seen in the human world, they leave Soul Society when they are going on missions to balance the Spirits in the World. Those that can see Ghosts can generally not see Shinigami, but there are exceptions and it is a very rare gift.
1st Division Captain: Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni
First Division Captain and founder of the Shinigami Academy. By virtue of his position and seniority, he is also the Supreme Commander of the Gotei 13. Yamamoto looks like a very old man, almost after the fashion of the Taoist Immortals.
He wields Ryuujin Jakka, the strongest of all fire-type zanpaku-to. His skill in kidou is unknown, but probably as formidable as his swordsmanship, as he appears to embody the convention of the "old master."
2nd Division Captain: Soi Fong
Captain of the Second Division, and Commander of Covert Operations and Executive Militia.
Not much is known about Soi Fong. She is from a lower noble family that served the great Shihounin family.
In combat, Soi Fong wields Suzumebachi, one of the more unique Zanpaku-to. She also seems to have the entire Covert Operations division at her beck and call, ready to fight at a moment's notice.
3rd Division Captain: Takumi Saruwatari
The new Third Division Captain, a strange man who seems to be in his late twenties. He has brown hair that reaches his shoulders, a small moustache and a face that shows virtualy no emotion. Some people joke about it, because the former third division captain, Ichimaru Gin, also shared similar qualities. He is somewhat sadisticaly, and even tough he isn't a captain for very long, his methods of torturing are already legendary. He seems to get on with the also new Fifth Division Captain quite well and spends a lot of time discussing various things with him.
In battle, he uses his zanpaku-to Goumongu to take out his enemies slowly.
4th Division Captain: Unohana Retsu
A kind and peaceful woman, who is perfectly suited to be Captain of the healing-oriented Fourth Division. She seems willing to help almost anyone in need, but don't let her motherly appearance fool you; she is highly intelligent and possesses an extremely strong will.
She has not engaged in any combat to date, but wields the healing zanpaku-to Minazuki as her blade of choice.
5th Division Captain: Kaito Nakashima
The new fifth division captain. A very strange and quiet person. He seems to speak with almost no-one at all. No-one from the fifth division seems to know how he became the new captain and where he came from. He always looks like he's terribly bored and troubled. The only reason why he looks like that is because people always ask him why he looks like that. He knows the new Third Division Captain well and often spends time chatting with him. He doesn't look very young, but he actually isn't that old either. He's got dark blond hair up to his shoulders, and offcourse the traditional captain's robe. He also wears a blue glove on his right hand. He doesn't look like it, but he really enjoys fighting. And when he does, he uses his very elegant zanpaku-to Sazanami.
6th Division Captain: Kuchiki Byakuya
Captain of the Sixth Division. Byakuya is head of the noble Kuchiki family, and as such is sophisticated in his philosophy and manner of speech. He is perpetually cool and collected - many might say cold and emotionless - having never been seen really smiling or losing his tempr.
His zanpaku-to is the deadly Senbon Zakura, which he wields with suitable elegance to dispatch his foes.
7th Division Captain: Komamura Sajin
The huge Captain of the Seventh Division. Komamura is a mysterious individual, hiding his features from view with a large helmet. He has a great sense of honour, being particularly devoted to Yamamoto Genryuusai.
When it comes time to fight, Komamura wields the niftily named Tengen, a blade with size to match his own.
8th Division Captain: Kyouraku Shunsui
The creatively dressed Eighth Division Captain. As his overcoat, hat, and stubble might indicate, Shunsui is someone who lives life in a carefree manner. He loves to nap, joke, drink, and generally be laid-back about everything that comes his way. When things get serious, however, Shunsui shows that beneath his whimsical exterior lies intelligence, skill, and a sensitive and compassionate character that hates to watch suffering.
When Shunsui is forced to fight, he wields the twin-blade zanpaku-to Katen Kyoukotsu with awesome skill.
9th Division Captain: Hoshimaru Kokotsu
The newly appointed and relatively young captain of the 9th division. He is spontaneous and fast acting. He is short of stature and a nice person when talking casually. In battle, his personality takes on his fighting style: spontaneous and fast acting. His short stature makes him look much more insignifigant than he actually is, but there is more to a man than his stature.
When forced to fight, or rather, when enjoying it, Kokotsu wields Goukenraikou, a powerful lightning based zampaku-to.
10th Division Captain: Hitsugaya Toushiro
The Tenth Division Captain is the youngest captain in the Gotei 13 by a considerable margin. He is known as a prodigy in study of the Shinigami arts, earning him the nickname of "Tensai," or "Genius."
When battle comes around, Hitsugaya wields Hyourinmaru, the most powerful ice-type zanpaku-to in Soul Society.
11th Division Captain: Zaraki Kenpachi
The bloodthirsty Eleventh Division Captain. Zaraki lives for one purpose and one purpose only: to fight. All other concerns are basically secondary. Though Zaraki enjoys fighting with all his strength, he does not seem particularly concerned with winning or losing; the joy of battle is all that matters to him.
Wielder of a nameless blade, Zaraki is the only captain in Soul Society who does not know the name of his zanpaku-to; this is a testament to his terrifying strength in combat and colossal spiritual pressure.
12th Division Captain: Kurotsuchi Mayuri
The epitome of a mad scientist, and hence perfect for the job of Twelfth Division Captain. Mayuri paints himself black and white, wears a strange hat, and has altered his body to grant it many strange abilities. His main goal appears to be pursuit of forbidden knowledge at any cost, and he does not hesitate to resort to sadistic or underhanded methods to achieve his ends. Life means nothing to him; he would turn his own men into living bombs if it meant he could do or learn something more easily.
On the frequent occasions when Mayuri wants to fight or perhaps revel in a bit of sadism, he wields the bizarre but lethal Ashisogi Jizou.
13th Division Captain: Ukitake Juushiro
The Captain of the Thirteenth Division, with an almost legendary reputation for being a nice guy. Sadly, Ukitake has frail health and is ill a lot of the time, but in his better moments he is a strong and reliable fighter as well as a caring and compassionate leader.
On the rare occasions when he is both in good health and inclined to fight, Ukitake wields Sougyo no Kotowari, one of only two twin-bladed zanpaku-to in all Soul Society.
The Arrancar
Aizen Sousuke
Former 5th Division Captain who betrayed Soul Society and the Shinigami to become stronger. His final goal is to kill the leaders of Soul Society. He was, at his prime, considered the second strongest Captain of the Gotei 13, though he is considerably stronger now. He wields a zanpaku-to that has the ability to hypnotize everyone who can see it.
Tousen Kaname
Former Ninth Division Captain of the Gotei 13.
Joined Aizen to become stronger. He believes that he is Justice personified, and does not believe that joining with Aizen was an immoral thing. He was born blind.
Ichimaru Gin.
The ever-smiling, pale and mysterious Former Third Division Captain of the Gotei 13, he also betrayed Soul Society and joined Aizen. The apparent reason why he may have joined Aizen is because he was Aizen's vice-captain at one point in his Shinigami career and still holds great loyalty to him.
Furthermore, there are ten Arrancar who stand at the top of all the others because of their extraordinary destructive powers. They are called the "Espada".
The Quincy
Because there are only a few Quincy left alive, it is imperative that they organize before any of the few left are killed as well. Quincy have certain ranks that indicate the amount of other Quincy they have underneath them that they supervise and look after. They are called the "Yotogi"(Or "Watchers"). They are numbered from one to ten. One has the least amount of Quincy he or she has to supervise, and ten the most. The so-called Quincy "Divisions" are called "Bandai" or "Watcher's Seats". Number 10 is called:
Kyaaru somasu
Like most Quincy, he wears glasses. He's got blond hair and is of average height. He has studied and taken in the pinnacle of Quincy techniques and has skilled, so becoming the most powerful Quincy in existence. He is also the chief librarian of the Quincy Library, where all the knowledge of the Quincy that survived is kept.
Bountou
Kariya Jin
The head of the often reclusive Bountou is named Kariya Jin. He is said to possess the most power of any Bountou in existence, and that is why the others have begun to gather around him. The other Bountou generally are very independent, not having any real rankings other than their single leader and often going off and doing whatever they want regardless of orders.
