Awww well this case went faster than the michael jackson case:P
No, I think it's fair you had this, well ''luck''. On the other hand, you won't be the same again. And since I do not know your personnely I think that's a pity.

hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

R_E, Haloscope...It's good to hear you got out of this with all your limbs. Maybe with a bit less blood because you had to sign your contract, but that's OK. J/K
I, like the others, am pretty interested in what the details of the case are, and if it works the other way around too, in that Mark Rosewater can't say anything about it either. But at the time you are allowed to say what the details were, please do so.
I can't answer the question about specifics about the settlement.
I can't answer the question about which specifics.
I can't answer the question about the question about specifics.
If someone asked a question about a question about a question about specifics, however...
Well, this is certainly refreshing to hear. I'm a tad dissapointed that rumor season is now just gettting things out of magazines, but it's much better than it could've turned out.
I'd like to give you the thumbs up for allowing your children to watch such a fine program as Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. It's shows like that which will save the world.
Hey, anything I can do, man. * rancored_elf tips his hat and says "you are a very useful forum member" *

I believe that all of us here are VERY sad to see you leave the Rumor Mill.
I'm not leaving the Rumor Mill. I said "I'm no longer interested in hearing any information about Wizards' products that aren't already publicly available."

Well...I still feel that WotC got much more from you than they should have, Daron, but as long as you're happy with the outcome...
I'm happy it's over.

I know to day was the day the judge was going to make his ruling on your motion to quash. I am assuming he denied this motion, and allowed the case to continue and this is why you cut a deal?
The settlement was reached early this week, as I said in the first post of this thread. The motion to dismiss the case would have been heard today (Friday). Now it won't have to be heard, because there's no case to dismiss.

Can you at least tell us if the settlement was relatively painless or was it instead of them taking both of your nuts, they just took the one?
I'm currently in very little physical pain, and I have two functioning testicles. And I think those two points are interrelated.
I find it funny that people were campaigning for R_E's "RIGHT TO RUMOR" and yet they're happy now that it's over, when that's been taken away.
What bothered me was seeing people say "Yeah I totally knew this was going to happen!" I also was a bit upset when people said "I've never liked rumours anyway, so this lawsuit is a good thing". Some of the people saying that were some fairly outspoken Rumor Mill regulars and will continue to be. Talk about crowd mentality.
The other frustrating part was the people blatantly lying or spreading misinformation about me publicly, and not being able to defend myself (because I was advised not to post on the matter). Give that a try for a few weeks and see how you feel.
In general, though, most people have acted in good faith, honourably, and loyally to what they felt was right.
I'll just say this. I'm extremely happy for R_E that it's over, and apparantly over in such a way that it won't harm him financially (I don't know this, but I'm assuming).
I'm still ticked off at Hasboro/WoTC for filing the thing in the first place.
I'm saddened that such a great resource and source of joy for all fans of Magic: The Gathering has now been quashed. One more instance of the big guy beating up on the little guy. How Wizards could seriously conclude that what R_E did was bad for them I'll never understand. But so be it.
God Bless R_E.

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
Well, all I can say is I'm glad to see you back, Daron, and I'm glad everything worked out alright. And Jay, you truly are a great man for helping with all this. Now, I suppose I need to come up with a new signature for here...

Yeah, If there's one thing I've learned is not to trust the masses. They tend to turn on you whenever it's in there interest or you're not "cool" anymore.
But as sad as that is I do want to re-iterate how many people were generally interested in you're well-being for everything you've done for us.
And if/when you can talk about specifics, if Hasbro took a lot of money from you Im sure people would start up the "Save R_E" fund again.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
I'm relieved to hear that you don't have to worry about this anymore R_E, and I'm sorry you had to go through all this. I for one (and probably a lot of the others) feel they are also responsible for this... basically, I feel you got the punishment that should have been for us all.
In that line, I also can't help but wonder (probably because you can't elaborate) if there were other parts in the settlement beside you not being a 'rumor gateway' anymore.
Then again, it's also possible Wizards has not asked for anything else, if it saw it would just destroy one person's life, and just asked not to tell us because they don't want people to think they can get away from it easily and that next time they won't be so mild (so that this case was a warning for everyone).
So is this now a matter or forgive but not forget?
R_E, did you create an account named Rancored_Elf on the WoTC forums or is that a poser?
I've never used those forums. Just MTGN (past) and MTGS (present).

I can't talk about the terms of the settlement agreement, sorry.
Unfortunate that you can't run the rumor mill anymore. The communities of MtG worldwide shall miss your tremendous contributions to the game. However, I'm glad (and the rest of us hanging by our fingernails) that you're safe and not paying ridiculous amounts to WotC. We'll be seeing you in the rumor mill (and hoping you have some kind of successor in mind ;))!
I agree, but he's still our R_E.
Glad to see you got out of this okay.
I already posted regarding this....
Many other people post rumors on this site, it has always been that way.
R_E has been the main person to do so though.
As long as we are tactful and cautious with what we post, I do not forsee WoTC getting upset. I will continue to post whatever information sent my way.
WoTC let R_E be for years with the spoiling of sets. The playtest cards were what 'crossed the line'.
WoTC will not bother us if someone else 'picks up R_E's torch'.
Of course I would love to hear what Haloscope has to say on the matter, but I feel rather confident we don't have much to worry about here. Spoilers are not 'dead'.
Millmaster, you seem to be a little miffed that R_E didn't 'get the book thrown at him'.
Watch your attitude on this thread.
I answered your question already on the thread, you are just posting to troll.
well that just made my day. Congradulations RE. Part of the reason I decided to join was to show support, so color me late but happy

Judging by R_E's glee, he wasn't forced to pay a dime. However, my guess is no more spoilers (posted by him) ever again, and he has to rat out John Doe 1-10. That's pretty much what I thought would happen, but I guess we'll never know the specifics of the settlement.
