damn, i mean congrats and all but i wanted to see a case... precident on this would have been nice... but seriously, congrats, i hope the resolution wasnt financially damaging in any way...
good job jay.. your done well... now... on that help email... any chance??? anything is appreciated.... just points and statutes and stuff... thanks
well, R_E, that's a good thing that's it's all over. I hope that you now have a little peace of mind.
Judging by your new sig, though, it is obvious that you had to make some tough concessions and that's really a shame. I hope that it's not too much of a burden.
Well, too bad for wizards : they still have to learn that with a lesser buzz, they'll have lesser sales, but i feel no sympathy for them. actually the whole matter made me really not that inclined in buying magic any more.
i didnt buy any guildpact and im not buying dissension. ive just been buying older stuff; its a much better investment and its not giving money to a company that sues its fans.
Hey Daron, great to hear it's settled. It's been a very difficult time for everyone here but nothing compared to what it's been to you. I have to say that I am myself very thankful to Jay Shergill and that it's because of people like him that I find the strenght and will to keep fighting in such a messed up world. Daron and Jay, we need more people like you. Thanks for everything and I sincerely hope only good things for you guys from now on. Or, more relistically, such good things that the bad ones are easily overshadowed
Cheers, let's celebrate with a chorus of I'm Down for Dissension!!
Daron, my good friend, great to hear from you on a more regular basis. Thanks for everything you've done for the forums and myself
Wonderful news! I am certainly not alone when I say I'm relieved that this mess didn't end in tears.

Welcome back Daron, i'm glad this turned out without further pain to you and your family.
This, however, is precisely what i saw coming. WOTC coming to a settlement and making it so the #1 provider of MTG rumors couldn't make it so again. I highly doubt it that they intended to push through the lawsuit all along. Kudos to Jay for supporting Daron, and shame on Wizards for the terror tactics.
I really hope someone can fill R_E's place in providing the info - rumors are a fundamental part of the game and of this community. But hey, i'll leave the ranting for later. Right now, it's time to be glad it's over.
These are exactly my thoughts on the matter. I really hope that the settlement was not a "You may NEVER speak of this suit again" situation, and that we may one day find out about this. You know that curiousity thing But as for the moment, I'd rather just let my curiosity go rather than chance you getting into any further legal trouble. Otherwise Hasbro might actually sell more of their products, and Karona forbid they'd want something like that.

New Rules come out for 1999 6th Edition... "THEY'RE TURNING MAGIC INTO PORTAL! THE GAME IS RUINED! EVERYONE PETITION AND GET THEM TO CHANGE IT BACK!"
New Rules come out for 2010 Edition... "THEY'RE TURNING MAGIC INTO YU-GI-OH! THE GAME IS RUINED! EVERYONE PETITION AND GET THEM TO CHANGE IT BACK!"
New Rules come out for *Reserved for something in 2020* "THEY'RE TURNING MAGIC INTO *currently "simple" game by the more "skilled" players*! THE GAME IS..." etc.
One thing I would like to say though is that this settlement shouldn't let WotC off the hook completelyfrom the ire of the MtG community: they were still a bunch of underhanded bullying bastards to a loyal, dedicated fan. My impromptu boycott continues...

"The imagination is not a State: it is the Human existence itself." - William Blake
yay!! *does the Chancey dance* Great to have you back.:D Your spoilers will be greatly missed though. I liked having a decklist and $$ ready when a set came out. I've been burned too many times by randomly buying boosters and hoping for the best. Bah! <---random smilie...
Phew! I'm glad that that's behinde us now and in a good way. It's all done and dusted now and i'm glad to see that you're still doing okay and not paying ridiculous amounts of money to WotC.
I, for one, am sorry to hear that we are not going to hear. Maybe we need a Rumor Mill for the settlement. Hasbro goes after a "little guy" (big to us, but...), shuts him up for good, and yet we all know that nothing will change with leaks and such. Just different sources. So it was all "get Ritter", and now that he is silenced, all we have seen is a corporate thug operation.
And we still don't know what leaks are going to be tolerated and what isn't. The lawyers on their side will interpret broadly, the defense will try to narrow, but the money side wins when they want to. It is all really sad.
Great news!
Methinks this is the best way possible to solve this right now (well, R_E still posting rumors will be better of course, but I'm not that optimistic anymore).
And thanks to Jay, you are a good lad!
Me = really, really happy.
Welcome back, RE. I'm glad things worked out for the better for you. I'm sorry you can't discuss rumors anymore, but I think that is a decent trade-off. With that I mean you aren't 3billion in debt.
This actually sucks. You cant post rumor(they won), and whatever you cant talk about(they won). Man what an ass kicking. We lost our rumors!!!
Oh and I bet he had to role over on his sources that will be repremanded from within. If you see people "leaving" that might be a graceful way of being let go.
Haloscope or Rancored_Elf, could you describe how you feel toward WotC as a company? On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you with WotC? With, say, 1 being a "They're evil bastards who take our money" (implying, of course, that they overcharge for cards, of course), and 10 being a "They good people who understand that sometimes a mistake can be corrected by apologizing" (implying, of course, that you appreciate when Mark Rosewater apologizes for Urza's block).
I strictly don't want to hear about the court case, of course.
I'm glad this turned out at least better than it could have. On the other hand, I still feel really betrayed by Wizards (Hasbro) for even starting this. I hope this can be put behind us, and I hope this sort of thing is never seen again.

There's an 10/10 for R with haste and without a drawback in Dissension!
Oh, wait. WAIT! Still there? I'm kidding
Good to hear that you came away nicely, and I hope that the Rumor Mill wont suffer too much when you can't post there anymore. Welcome back, R_E

Sometimes those with the most sin cast the first stones.
I wonder if the gag order goes both ways? I remember Rosewater saying in an article that he couldn't talk about the case while it was still ongoing. Now that it's over, I'd really like to get his take on the whole thing.
