I am guessing because he though resigning would make people calmer and make people want to come back. Guess what? We are not coming back. I hope he just realized you couldnt do it!

This is definatly a step in the right direction, and if this keeps up I wiil go back, but not frequently unless R_E goes back there as well. I must say though, I am very impressed with salvation so far, keep up the good work TNK!

I do like the way that things get done very quickly around here, and everyone here seems to get along much better than we did at news. I think alot of it will have to do with what R_E decides to do, and im sorry that we are putting "pressure" on him about it, but i guess that is just the way it will be.
Keep up the good work TNK, sakabatou, administrator, etc

I personally think its great that they did something about Scott. I hope he feels really ashamed and bad for what he did and is crying now.
What I still don't understand is why so many people refuse to go back to news, even though Scott has been fixed. I mean thats kind of like having someone break into your house and then refusing to go back into your house even after the police arrested the culprit and returned all your stuff.
I mean, whats the logic behind it? By refusing to go back there, your letting Scott win. Not only are you showing him that he can push you around, your showing him that he can push you around even after he leaves. What are the other problems with news outside of Scott?
I think we should all be happy that Scott got demoted and I wish him the utmost misfortune and misery in the coming months.

I think the logic behind it is more along the lines of the police watching someone break into your house, rob you blind, and then three days later arresting him.
What I still don't understand is why so many people refuse to go back to news, even though Scott has been fixed. I mean thats kind of like having someone break into your house and then refusing to go back into your house even after the police arrested the culprit and returned all your stuff.

The reason many (myself included) probably won't be returning to 'News for the forseeable future is that only one problem has been fixed. Scott was a big problem sure, and probably the biggest reason for the mass exodus, but there are other problems over there. Raa's involvement with the site until recent events has been weak at best. I'm sure he has good reason, but the fact remains that 'News has been very much neglected for the last ten months or so. What happened on New Years day is just the big event that caught everyone's attention. Scott's actions afterward are what got the community in an uproar. But things hadn't really been right in a long while.
Things may improve, and for the sake of all the really great people there I hope it does. But for now, I'll be content with posting here and casually lurking there until I see definate signs that 'News might grow and become better (something I think great admins and mods like elgato and cyan intend to do). Scott's ousting may return MTGNews to the way it was a month ago, but in my mind it needs to do better than that. The site needs to become what it was envisioned to become last February when Raa took over. The admins had big hopes for the site then, but since they had no power to incite change, the site instead went into a tailspin. It finally crashed a week ago.
So after all this, many may yet return to 'News in some way, but probably not until the site achieves a full upswing and a tragedy like the last few months seems unlikely again.
MikeyG nailed it on the head. There's no need to break out all the party hats yet and assume 'News is in the clear. There's still a very large dark shadow looming over 'News, not only from the recent events and such of the last 4 months, but the same one that's been hanging there since MTGnews was bought a year ago come next month raining impending doom down upon those who go there. :wierd2:

And thanks Numen. Many seem to think that people from salvation won't be going back out of a sense of bitterness or spite, but I really don't believe that's the case for alot of us. I hold out hope that MTGNews will rise up and reclaim its old mantle of Best MTG Site, but until that day the best we can do is coexist both peacefully and in a mature manner until then.

If I do good - I feel good. If I do bad -I feel bad. That's my religion.
Truefully none of this is surprising. If you think SS was heavy handed on the 'net you should see him in person. He was eventually asked to stay away from the indoor swapmeet where he runs his booth (he doesn't actually own a store), and let the help run said booth.
Why, you might ask?
Seems the customers had a problem with him coming up to them with a bullhorn telling them not to come back, while snapping their picture on his phone cam. So as attendance dropped by over half, something had to be done.... Sound familiar?
Of course there was the store where they let him run FNM. Between him and one of his psycho employees, they managed to get attendance to drop by over half there too. Now the store doesn't even run MTG tournys.
Yes Scott is ever the ray of sunshine, and he spreads it wherever he may roam.
And now I return to my ever diligent lurking, be well and good luck all!
would it be difficult to change the way the spoiler is set up? make the spolier a subject. make each card an individual thread that can house comments on that particular card. it'd go a long way in showing which cards are generating the highest levels of interest...
just a thought. what do i know, right?

I just want to warn everyone not to once again spam advertisements for this site (I didn't agree when people were doing it the first time and I don't like it now). It seems most of the animosity towards MTGNews stemmed from resentment at S_S's actions. Now that he has been removed don't do anything to increase tension. Perhaps we will see lax relations between here and there and maybe even the return of moderators from this forum...
