EDIT: Too many people are not understanding what I was trying to say, and are refusing to listen to what my intentions about the passage are. Passage removed. If you read it and it made you think of killing and war, then I did not make my intentions clear enough, and I apologize for waisting your time.
This has been said many times and will be said many times:
This was not a revolution, this was not a war. This was not heroic or good or bad or evil or good or fluffy or hard or anything else. This was a change, a necessary change, and a hard decision for a lot of people. Let's not go making this into what it is not.
That said, it's a cool passage.

I have no extendo-sig. Sorry, I'm just not vain enough to think someone will click on it.
It was a cool passage, but i agree. We did not have a revolution, but more a division. mtgnews was not a site, but a side of a site. There was conflict and the second side of the site mtgsalvation was created. together they house the community. Both together and apart we will hopefully make progress. Moving forward together we can possibly make more progress than ever before. The division allowed us to see that magic is a two sided game, that of community and money. The game cannot exist without money, but hopefully we can have a place that can support a community which in the outside world is more largely based on money, but online can be separate from that. perhaps it just took this division for us to realize that we need to see that the game is about money, but we can keep parts of the game separate from money at the same time.

Eh, I think you're just Nostradaumicizing (not a word but... sp?). Sure it's a cool passage, but it doesn't fit the situation nearly well enough to be "AWESOMZORZ"
The passage was more serious then the situation, but anytime a person makes a choice to change an aspect of thier life, even as simple as changing what website they prefer, it is a revolutionary change, albeit a small one.
By chance I came across that just the other day, and wanted to point it out to people, and out of all the places here, I felt this section was more appropriate then the others. There are aspects of what happend that are revolutionary. The simple fact that the people leaving didn't quit, the fact this site exists is itself revolutionary.
The overthrow of one government and its replacement with another.
A sudden or momentous change in a situation: the revolution in computer technology.
Revolution is a very strong word, but to a point, it does fit.
The passage is done well, and could be applied as a metaphor to our situation, but I'm with the people who say we really shouldn't call it a war, or a revolution. We simply got up and left. We tried to talk about why we left yes, and that dig get some nastiness going, but I'm trying to stay away from the allusions to killing.
