Of the 20000 MTG News members, about 3-4 thousand of them post one a month or more, which is what I would call "regulars". As for number of active members, I've compared the two sites several times today, and in many cases we're beating them in registered members, but they have more lurkers than we do. Creatures of habit, I suppose.
We beat them many times (I don't count anymore). And we always have more members online, that's a good sign since MTGNews has many lurkers and here they might start posting.
It really depends on how things go in the next few weeks. After all, Salvation is a brand new flavor, where as News is still chocolate. The question being, will Super Mocha Baseball-Raspberry Crunch stay the course and overshadow super-funkay Chocolate *Shaft theme...for some reason*.
I had an account at mtgnews. Never used it until I questioned SS. Here I have the fifth highest posts among everyone, 2nd among non moderators. I think I like it here more.
Wow in less then a week we have surpassed The largest magic forum on the net in the terms of active members .
Maybe I am wrong about the Largest forum part.

Just becuase SS is gne doesnt mean people are going back. A lot of people have already stated that that they wont go back. RE for one is not apparently and hes one of the reasons the exodus from News happened. I just think our splurge (is that the right word) of new members will cool down.

I'd disagree with that. A good deal of the people who left left when SS showed his true colors as a psycho. Now that he's gone, hopefully those people will return to some degree.

On the users thing, they may have 20k people, but remember how many of those are triple and quadruple accounts trying to "prove" a fake rumor.

Yes, because this is a game. This is a contest between News and Salvation in which a score is kept; its Us against You; we're some enemy you have to "defeat".

I agree with ElGato, I really wish this "us versus them" mentality would just end. I understand the good feeling when salvation is proving it isn't just a few dissenters and mtgnews no longer has the monopoly on the community, but I think it's time to stop.
This isn't a game and there are no winners. We're all part of the same community and continuing to parade the rift between the sites and claiming 'victory' over 'News over something so inconsequential is only going to breed more animosity.
And that is something I'd certainly love to see end.

MTGN: 281 (62 members and 219 guests)
We now have almost twice the logged in members they do but as R_E said, not as many lurkers. Huh. I wonder when that'll change...
