I am not about to defend S_S or anything like that, but I have to admit that I think Yedoin is right. Some of the posts TNK made in response to S_S's were retorts to the originals that TNK gave warnings for, in my opinion, and were just as bad. Now, I understand that it was probably the heat of the moment and everything - and I personally feel that S_S was provoking you (so don't feel too bad about it) - but I'd highly recommend that folks take a moment to consider what they're doing before hitting that "Submit Reply" button to ensure that we're not taking ourselves down to S_S's level... :slant:

SubSpirit, I think you're making a major mistake. By censoring MTG Salvation, you're simply making it more appealing to people, because people like that which is forbidden. Now, we don't have any secret "Spamming Committee", which goes around encouraging people to spam- far from it, I've been asking, warning, and doing things to prevent our members from spamming MTGnews, just as has the rest of the staff.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
This isn't the first time a "Rumor Mill" on another site has edited out the credits to the original posting of a card. It happens all over the net....this is just the first time MTGNews has done it. That means somthing!!
My thoughts exactly. I hate to see a site that I've devoted so much time and energy to stooping to these kind of hateful tactics. Whatever respect 'News has earned over the years is quickly dissolving.

Unfortunately...
Given that, though, I'm personally more interested in salvaging what we can of the community. If we can drive our energy towards either fixing MTG News or getting MTG Salvation into a position similar to that which MTG News held before everything started going down hill... well... the former is looking harder and harder, while the latter... Looks like MTG Salvation's well on it's way.
I'm definitely not abandoning MTGNews, yet, but it's getting harder and harder to see a light at the end of the tunnel that isn't a train...

Edit: I just reread S_S last post, above. It just dawned on me: he keeps talking about the business and TNK attracting people to his site...
He really doesn't understand the concept of a community, does he? He doesn't seem to get that TNK and Hannes get nothing from this, that they are simply doing it because they want to, because they love the community. They are doing this - as DG did it for MTG News, even after he quit playing the game - for their love of the community.
It's really very sad that he doesn't understand that. It might have helped to prevent some of this...
I agree, it was vastly underrated. I can't understand why people didn't like it.
Before I get modded, MTG News. Ummm... yeah. Woohoo! Oh, wait, no, I mean boo SS!
I was too lazy to find it before, but yes, the olive branch Scott so nicely laid out was revealed far earlier ...

[BOK] global artifact bounce
Name? -
Instant
Returns all artifacts to their owners' hands.
This comes from a source who has provided some reliable information in the past. I don't consider it "confirmed" but it's definitely not a fabrication. At worst, it's a bit inaccurate.
Obviously it's either uncommon or rare, likely rare. They generally put a hoser for the previous block in the middle set of the next block, and it's generally rare.
It might be a Sorcery but I doubt that. Cards like Evacuation, Part the Veil, and even targetted bounce are almost always Instants.
I think they costed it high enough that it will be a hoser for affinity, but not quite good enough to completely wreck the deck. I also think that it costs a bit much to be a good combo card... you know, in decks that like to bounce all their free artifact mana and replay it, netting a ton of extra mana."
SS is certainly no Rancored Elf. RE is the whole reason I made the switch. I will suggest that in order to make a point don't go to the MTG site and browse. Activity will keep this now defunct website around much longer than it needs to be. Hit SS in his pocketbook - i.e. don't buy cards from shuffle and cut. My two cents.

If I do good - I feel good. If I do bad -I feel bad. That's my religion.
I ran a discussion board for over 3 years. In my time, I've dealt with people I've angered, and I've dealt with people that were angry at me for other reasons. I learned in that time, a professional stance is needed to keep calm heads, but it also doesn't hurt to be casual with people when not in "Admin Mode". I ran a very open ended discussion board with as few rules as possible.

Of course they did. It's called spam raids. And while I know you are taking a "public" stance against them, I beleive fully in my heart that you, behind the scenes, promoting and helping anyone who wanted to do it.
These kind of claims are completely ridiculous, and do nothing but make the accuser look like a total fool. Case in point, SS has no way to substantiate his claim that any of the MTG:S staff were in any way organizing theses raids. However, he makes it seem like he has this kind of information, and is trying to convey the burden of proof is on the staff at MTG:S to prove they're not behind it. The burden of proof, at this time, is squarely on you, SS. Until you can do that much, you will do nothing but project the appearance of a paranoid leader that is waiting for his followers to usurp him. Not the kind of banner I'd like to serve under, personally.
On a separate note, I mentioned that I had very few rules. I'd say only 4-5 very narrow rules, there wasn't a lot of room for interpretation, either you broke it, or you didn't. I am proud to say in the 3+ years the board was running, I can count the number of banned users on one hand.... but....

I'll be honest - from that perspective, you're an incredible businessman. I give you credit. From a personal standpoint, I hate your guts and you should hope to never meet me face-to-face as it would not turn out good for you.
That would've had you banned from my board. If there's one thing I wouldn't tolerate, it was threatening physical violence. That kind of threat is inexcusable, and very unprofessional, coming from someone who claims to be trying to turn their site around for the better.
You're thinking of the wrong kind of professional. Actually, it's more like Leon - The Professional.
Tru dat, but I was thinking professional like, "I would like to see users posting on my forums and feeling confident they will enjoy themselves," not professional like, "Imma gonna git ya when yous sleepin'!"
I'm not sure who you're talking to, but all I can say is that you're pretty paranoid. There's no hidden group of "Salvation Spamraiders" planning their next attack on News.
Whoever you're talking to, I don't appreciate threats. If you're talking to me, bring it. If you're talking to someone else here, I advise you to retract your threat. I'm somewhat amused that you can't control yourself enough to refrain from threatening the physical safety of someone else on a public forum. You're clearly smart enough to know that this is probably either illegal or treading really thin water.
I agree. What in the world was SS thinking when he said that? This is insane. If SubSpirit (here) is really the same person as Scott, man... he's... crazier than everyone has been saying.
edit: I just realized he threatened physical violence (even if it was vague) against both TNK and R_E. Not just one. This... I don't know what to say..

that threats of physical violence are arrest-worthy?
(please excuse my feeble attempt to insert levity into the situation...)
if this senseless bickering escalates it could turn into the a flame war... then you would hear me doctoring a yoda quote...
I posted the first flame here, and I feel ashamed. However, I hope that it isn't deleted until Scott gets a chance to read it.
When did Scott physically threaten someone? I only saw him threaten Salvation as a whole.
EDIT: Also note that that is the first flame I have ever posted on any board. I used to spam way back in the day, but I never flamed. That's how much I feel Scott deserved it
He threatened our community by threatening MTGsalvation and by threatening our community he threatened each and every one of us which means I feel threatened, There must be some law against that!!
Heh, maybe someone should sig that on their MTGnews account.

Also it states as fact r_e's assumptions that it is an instant and rare.
Something to keep in mind when we do get the final card....
