What do people think of a singleton (or even more?) Inkmoth Nexus to be tutored up with Knight and turned into a 1-hit robot with a Sovereign trigger? I feel it's kinda "Win-more" - but it's potentially pretty good.
What about Mirran Crusader as the 1-hit Robot with Sovereign. The Mythic godhand would kill on turn 3.
That's pretty awesome. But I'm still not very sold on Mythic as a deck in Extended.. Maybe if UW wasn't everywhere...
That's the beauty of the deck - Mirran crusader is already god-like against jund and fae, so it's extremely easy to set up your SB to handle UW control. My own list is running 4 spell pierces, 3 gaddock teegs, and 4 deglamers in the sideboard to give UW a headache. I may end up putting mana leaks in the side as well, since landing a mirran crusader is basically GG against fae.
Aggro bant is way better then concription i think. you dont have to worry about resolving sovereigns and then havin your guy that you attack killed while concription is on the stack. Bant aggro you just drop dudes and more dudes and overwhelm your opponent . not even fairies and keep up with it unless they drop a turn 2 blossom, and still then they just use the 1/1 dorks as blockers while losing life every turn.
I agree that a different direction for bant is better than conscription. Recently from a PTQ
I was infulenced by that list and I'm running something like it tommorrow. (link in signature)
I too, determined that that Bant list played like Conscription, except a) you didn't need to run something off plan like Jace just to, y'know get gas, and b) you had Mirran Crusader, which hits nearly (though not quite as) hard as a conscripted creature.
Also, you play fewer creatures which are absolutely miserable some of the time (see: Lotus Cobra).
I quickly determined that Finest Hour was super greedy, and Knight of the Reliquary is really mediocre when you only play 5 forests, and 7 Fetches. He's just a 5/5 for 3. Which, TBH isn't the most exciting. I instead played Stoneforge Mystic+Swords in those slots.
Let me tell you: Swords make it so you don't want to die when you topdeck a Birds of Paradise. Swords are absolutely stupid when equipped to Mirran Crusader. I basically never wanted Knight of the Reliquary, because Stoneforge Mystic had the same "build a monster" feel to it, but was consistently excellent.
My maindeck (with sideboard still being muddled with):

This thread is for Conscription it looks like but I made another thread for what me, you and apparently after yesterdays PTQ alot of other people are playing.
You really can't compare Cryptic to Bant Charm in this meta. I agree that Rafiq might be pretty cool, but I think I would sacrifice him, GSZ and maindeck war monks to run the swords package. You can't cut KoTR, he's the best t2 drop beside Mirran Crusader. Running the swords pack doesn't mean cutting Knight.
It should. With or without lotus cobras, running stoneforge + crusader already fufills most of the utility of KotR (protection from relevant removal and blockers, large threat). It's nice to have a KoTR against jund, but so is crusader and war monk. Unless you want to trash your matchup against fae or scapeshift, you have to run warmonks/finks main so you only have to devote 4 slots in the side for RDW.
That's true, I guess. I just like Knight a lot more than War Monk main, even just for the offchance of getting a tectonic edge in response to dying to scapeshift. RDW is indeed an issue, and having less than 6 lifegainers/forge-tenders is a liability in my testing. I did ok (4-2) vs red last night with no lifegainers main and just forgetenders out of the side. No lifestaff either. I can see myself fitting in 2-3 RWM somehow, as they go insane with a sword.
They really do. My list has basically just focused on extrmeely efficient 3-drops and maximizing their effectiveness with the stoneforge package. Conscription/sovereigns is still in the deck, but it's lately become the backup plan, since it allows me to attrition the removal out of an opponent's hand with the threat of the sword, then drop the sovereigns unimpeded and win with a gigantic Birds of paradise
It's a solid list, though it concerns me that your only artifact/enchantment hate is from the pridemage. There are plenty of decks that can deal with your pridemage before they drop a prismatic omen or a sword. I prefer Deglamer, simply because it's instant speed.
It's also interesting that you aren't running Mirran Crusader, even out of the sideboard. Landing him basically ruins jund unless they have a bolt in hand, and more importantly, he becomes an unblockable win-condition that pairs perfectly with exalted bonuses.
This is more of a question than a guide, so any corrections or additional ideas would be greatly appreciated. My PTQ is this weekend and I'm still rather unfamiliar with the format, especially since I've been on an EDH hiatus for months now. Thanks for any help.
This is the decklist I am toying with for our extended ptq. I have designed this deck with a mind to compete against our store's aggro metagame. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions on or for this list.

I do agree on what you are saying on Knights, Hero and Finest Hour. Your Lands by the way are setup for KoTR.

Linvala, Keeper of Silence (Big butt avoids bolts and stops a lot of boros critters?)
