You lose cards forever to it and generally you want to be able to play land.
If you didn't have Hedron Crab, I'd probably go nuts over Mox. But with Hedron Crab at 1 without nixing your CA, I'm more inclined to go with it than Chrome Mox.
I don't like it very much, but I could understand someone trying to play with it.
Actually, Crab at 1 is the main reason you would want to run the Mox because it lets you play the Crab, THEN a fetch and mill yourself for 6 on the first turn. It also makes a turn 1 Drowned Rusalka 100 times better, allows for first-turn Glimpse the Unthinkable, and is generally pretty crazy.
I'm not necessarily saying to run it, but be aware that it has the awesomest synergy with Crab. And I don't see how it prevents you from playing land?
EDIT: panda, Fatestitcher is only really run in Vintage Ichorid because it untaps Bazaar of Baghdad and basically guarantees you the kill that turn. So if you're running Magus of the Bazaar AND that card doesn't die to everything immediately, Fatestitcher is insane because when you use it you basically win because you've Bazaar'd twice in one turn. However, (your Magus actually died as soon as it hit the table / you're running the superior Drowned Rusalka) so Fatestitcher is pretty bad because it doesn't do anything else.
leyline is actually okay to deal with since you got echoing truth sb. it's better than tormod yet not unsolvable. imo trap is more annoying. i guess you have to play nix or siezes to counter it.
That wouldn't work for leyline. If they hav e it in opening hand they start with in play not play it for zero. And even if you could you would need an island.

I think he was talking about the ravenous trap, not the leyline.

A card game about Presidents. Stabbing each other. With knives.
I really think we need to get a primer on this deck, I wanna do it but I just flat out don't get half the sideboard, and I've never played it utside of goldfishing, so....
Depending on what condition I come home tonight in, I'll try and do at least basic write ups for the Comprehensive Guide tonight. Because you're asking for it, I'll also do a more detailed write up for this (though I'm more used to doing them for the site's articles, but I love you guys so who needs $5 amirite?).
I'd just like to make one note that Burn consistently does more than 20 by turn 4 absent restraint, which is actually really killer. I wish it posted results to allow me to make a thread, but if I'm denying Thopter.awful, I can't suddenly let the mindless fury of tapping Mountains and hurting your opponent in with this.
This is not something that can simply be true one way of the other.
Magus does better if
1) he survives to use his ability
2) you don't have the mana for rusalka
3) he survives
This guy has the biggest bullseye on his head next to our graveyard if he sees play.
Rusalka, while it does use mana it can pull off some nice plays.
There should be no fear in using it as its own fodder to get more dredge out if you are lacking creatures, how I wouldn't know.
But no magus can be better but it usually isn't.
Especially against red burn. You pretty much just wasted a turn if you played him against a burn deck
magus of the bazaar dosnt work till turn 3 and can be burned and drowned rusalka makes you discard first thus being better since you can discard a grave troll then draw it.

This is not totally accurate. Most decks play Chrome Mox and you can have an active turn 2 magus with a turn 1 mox.

Yes, but I would rather use rusalka or crab if I had one of those in my hand with the Mox. Yeah if they didn't have burn he would be ripping the board anew but turn one crab has been proven to help the deck the most if you have a fetch since you mill yourself 6 (7 if you include that you take a land out)
The thing is the magus can be good. It relies on the opponent not doing anything to stop it. The crab and rusalka don't have that same problem.

That is wrong. You can certainly turn 1 win. Land, Mox, Glimpse hitting Narcox3 BFBx3 FKZ and Dread Return. That is a turn 1 win.
okay fine, but if you do that at turn 2 is not really that much of a different. adding chrome mox means card disadvantage and it's dead draw in hand or in the grave. besides, there is nothing really to cut for chrome mox in dredge.
back to turn 1 magus of the bazaar. it is just a bad play against zoo because they will bolt your enablers. that's why no one plays t1 hedron crab against zoo.
In his austin report at channel fireball, Conley Woods talks about a very funny match where he kept a very good hand with extirpate and Ghostly Prison just to see his opponent deal 21 the first 2 with mox, mox, rusalka, dredge bunch of stuff, play land for bloodghast, etc.. Just a fun fact.
I have a question about playing the deck, specifically game 2, bringing hate for their hate, whitout knowing what they will bring.
Let's assume, for simplicity, that the hate cards you are concerned are Trap and Leyline. So you have 4 Nix and 4 Echoing Truth in your SB, for example. If it's a matchup where one of your answers is good on it's own (Nix against Hypergenesis, Echoing against Dark Depths) you can just bring both if you want to be safe against any hate he brings. Whatever he brings, you won't have many dead cards, since half of the anti-hate is good on it's on.
But what about facing zoo, for example, where Truth is lackluster and Nix is downright useless? If you just put the 8 cards there, you risk dilluting your deck a lot and just getting killed the old way, even without facing much hate. But if you bring only one of those, you risk still having dead cards while not having an answer.
So, what are the tips on sideboarding G2 (Since G3 you can usually just bring answers against the hate you already faced G2)?
Edit: This is just an example, I don't mean to say that every SB will always have 4 Nix and 4 Echoing, it's just about the situation when you have different answers for the hate they might bring, don't know what they will bring and both answers are bad if they don't bring or don't draw the corresponding hate card
how about grove combo or tropter combo and gifts and proc ? all i can think of (besides mirror) seems good againt zoo to since they have tarmogoyf and knight of R

also, has anyone else figured out just how nutso bloodghast is? I really miss cabal therapy when I think about how fun he is to sacrifice!
that's not correct. most dredge decks do not play chrome mox. there is no way for dredge to go off t1 anyway even with it.

Dead card against three of the main decks in the format that we don't want to lose to game one, Burn. Hypergenesis, Zoo
any reason to use leyline over trap?
also how about a Sower of Temptation ?
