Surprised no one has created a thread for this yet. Anyhow, it's been a crazy first 2 days with a good number of surprising outcomes, lots of one goal games, and a few OT games. Good stuff. My pre-playoff predictions:
Caps > Habs in 5
Devils > Flyers in 7
Sabres > Bruins in 6
Pens > Senators in 6
Sharks > Avs in 6
Blackhawks > Preds in 5
Canucks > Kings in 7
Wings > Coyotes in 6
Lots of underdogs stealing wins on the road (PHI, NSH, COL, OTT, MTL). We could be in for one crazy first round. PHX slapped Detroit around in game 1 but DET bounced back tonight playing a more physical game. COL/SJ, PHX/DET, & VAN/LA have been the best so far IMO
Most likely upsets (pre game 1's) IMO: LA > VAN, PHI > NJ, BOS > BUF. And of course thus far Colorado looks like the most likely team to pull an upset even though they've been seriously outplayed but that's hockey.
End predicitons:
VAN > DET in WCF
BUF > WSH in ECF
VAN > BUF in SCF
Who cares about the rest of the games the Wings aren't in? We're out for revenge this year, and I can only hope we meet the Pens again in the Finals so we can finish the fight. lol
But yea, I'm glad we bounced back and whooped on PHX last night.
I haven't made this thread yet because that would require peeling away from the tele long enough to post it. THESE GAMES ARE ALL INSANE! I've never seen such an amazing combination of games in the first round of an NHL playoffs.
Caps over habs in 5. Flyers over Devils in 6. (seriously Flyers have had the Dev's number all year. In six games, the devils won ONCE.) Bruins over Sabres in 7. Pens over Sens in 6.
Avs over Sharks in 6. (Seriously. It's the Sharks. Should we expect anything else?) Preds over Hawks in 6. (The predators are a much better team than anyone gives them credit for being.) Canucks over Kings in 6. Wings over 'Yotes in 7.
Round 2: Caps over Flyers in 6. Pens over Bruins in 5.
Canucks over Avs in 5. Wings over over Preds in 7.
Confrence Finals: For the Eastern Confrence Finals, My heart says the pens. But my mind says the Caps will win it. But my mind be damned. Pens in 7.
WCF: Canucks over Wings in 7. At this point, it's like what happened to the canes last year. after back-to-back series of 7, they just get burned out, but Wings do better than the canes did last year, but they still fall short.
And the winner of the cup is the Pens in 6.
Take all this with a grain of salt. Very biased Pens fan here.

At least your team made the playoffs.
At my university the eating bar is jam packed around the flat-screens.......just to watch the leafs suck. And we cant even look forward to anything, as the Bruins have our damn first round pick. (Which will probably be 2nd overall).

so the exciting games continue....sort of. Detroit looks like crap but whatever. The story of the day.....San Jose & Colorado in a goaltenders dual that ends 0-0 in regulation. Seconds into OT San Jose's Dan Boyle puts the puck in his OWN net. The post season misery continues for the Sharks who outshot Colorado 50-15 (or thereabouts)
I made it home in time to see the start of the 2nd . For the first itme this postseason the Wings looked like the Wings. Now its on to San Jose where I think DET will win in 6. Nabby only has 8 or so wins lifetime against Detroit.
Habs v Caps game 7 tomorrow night.....go HABS! I so sick of people crowning the Caps prematurely when they have no blue line and inconsistent goaltending.
Best series of the first round to me was VAN v LAK. A shame one of them had to go home. Kings have a bright future ahead of them.
Jersey......what can ya say about Jersey? Golfing in May again. I feel sorry for Lemaire but calling it a career is probably the right thing to do. His system just doesnt seem to translate well when it counts. Im pretty sure Kovalchuk wont be returning anyway so not much to look forward to.
Chicago was lucky to get past Nashville. IF not for a bonehead coaching decision by Trotz at the end of game 5 I really thought Nashville would have put them away. Ah well, those are the breaks. He just better hope it doesnt cost him his job.
Poor Ryan Miller. This guy deserves his name on the cup and every year the guys in front of him let hime down. Maybe they'll take a run at Kovalchuk. They need a premier scorer to put them over the top.
I saw your comment over at ESPN Deceptikon (WingsOverAvs right?) and I have to say that I was going crazy during this game last night. Glad the Wings showed up.
We've had SJS's number this year and I'm not too worried about them, though I do remember 1994...
I hope Montreal pulls it out tonight.

So... Habs won. Does that make the Pens favorites for the east?
Les Habitants!!!
Sadly yes. I have nothing personal againt Pittsburgh but I dont think they're as good a team this year as they were this year. I still think the SC winner comes out of the West
Suck it Caps (mostly "suck it Ovie")! With the Devils and Caps going down in the first round, the road to repeat just got a lot wider for my Pens.
Pens are still a good team and should definitely come out of the East with our two problem teams now eliminated. I like the 'Hawks out of the West...they actually remind me of the Pens...good young core with some veterans sprinkled in there. They are weak in the goaltending department but have better defensemen.
Checking back on my prediction I had made in my hockey team's poll:
Caps Over Habs in 5 (whoops, but I'd rather have the Caps gone than lose a series in a poll)
Flyers over Devils in 6 (close enough)
Bruins over Sabres in 6 (check)
Pens over Sens in 6 (check)
Sharks over Avs in 5 (close enough)
Hawks over Preds in 5 (close enough)
Kings over Canucks in 7 (Canucks look better than I thought they were)
Wings over Coyotes in 5 (man, I was pulling for the Coyotes by the series end, though...they were fun to watch)
Not bad...6/8 series correct, with one of them giving me a better result anyway.
Round 2?
Pens over Habs in 5 (Habs have nothing left in the tank)
Flyers over Bruins in 6 (I think this could go either way, but Flyers played their heart out last series)
Wings over Sharks in 6 (experience beats annual choking everytime)
Hawks over Canucks in 6 (Kane/Toews > Sedins)
Caps > Habs in 5
Devils > Flyers in 7
Sabres > Bruins in 6
Pens > Senators in 6
Sharks > Avs in 6
Blackhawks > Preds in 5
Canucks > Kings in 7
Wings > Coyotes in 6

Lol. That's the funniest thing I've seen yet during this season. Only can San Jose pull this crap year after year.
You watching the game Chris? We up by 3 in the 2nd intermission.
