How is everyone not watching this show? The opening scene was brilliant. Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterston are superb. Probably not for thoseon/in the far right or tea party though. I feel it exposes American politics and journalism as it should be and holds humanity to a higher standard.
My father and I watch that show together - he's pretty conservative, and I used to be (although I consider myself a moderate now, with pragmatist leanings). We both love it. I loved the main character's line that he didn't even meet a Democrat until he was in college
But the show is about two things I think most people can get behind - The hijacking of the Republican party and the degradation of televised news into infotainment.
I've seen a few clips here and there, the host seems like an idiot. He says a few things that are dead on, but he basically attacks strawmen the entire time without actually confronting the real Tea Party and it's libertarian origins.

I don't think clips really do the show justice. He doesn't just attack strawman arguments (although they do in many cases, there is only so much explaining you can do in 55 minutes when trying to fit in drama, too). Try watching the show, he goes into detail with his problems with the Tea Party. It's not so much what the Tea Party was or claims to represent, but what it actually is.
This show is very light entertainment. Enjoyable enough, but you have to suppress the while watching it. It is soooooo preachy.
And everytime they mention how Jeff Daniels' character is actually a Rebublican (as though this somehow makes the show more even-handed) I really have to suppress my urge to

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.

You say this as if there is something inherently "rofl-worthy" about it. Why do you think that it is funny?

He IS a Republican. He is the definition of what a Republican was before the evangelicals and later the tea party took hold.
