Hiro roxxors!! Japanese people are so cute. Anyways...I'm still trying to figure out Nikki's powers. I'd say that the "other" Nikki takes over her body but that can't be. She cleaned the garage and stuffed the bodies of the mobsters while "real" Nikki was picking up her son.
Niki was on her way to pick up Micah when she had a blackout (coinciding with her viewing the static-filled tape of what happened after the mob thugs knocked her out). When she came to, Micah was calling her saying she was four hours late and she was in a different place with clean clothes. I think it's safe to say that ikiN took care of the mess during those missing four hours. Presumably, this other Niki (I just call her ikiN) takes over when Niki's conscious mind is otherwise unavailable, which is why she has no conscious memory of ikiN's actions.
It should be noted that the new red car ikiN left for Niki was registered in her name as of June 2006, which means ikiN has been operating without Niki's knowledge for some time. It also explains why Niki's cheques were bouncing for the private school in Genesis. The only question is whether ikiN is the one responsible for the long-dead bodies Niki found at the site marked on the map. She probably is, though I thought it was also possible that the site is a place that the mob used to dispose of bodies and that ikiN's plan was to frame the mob for the murder of their own goons. But I suppose only time will tell on that one.
Claire need therapy. Why is she trying to kill herself?
Just to see if she can. I'm not even sure if she's actually suicidal or if what we've been seeing her doing is just her testing her powers by taking things to the next level. She otherwise seems really well-adjusted, considering. I would say only she and Hiro are dealing well with their abilities at this point.

Its obvious she tried to kill herself at one point and discovered she couldn't kill herself. At least not with deadly force. I wonder if she's tried something like arsenic or some other fatal poison. Pills seem to be the new classic suicide method. We know she's physically tough but can her physiology stand up to much punishment?

So far actually, i see Hiro as the first one to take the steps towards being "Super Hiro". At the end of the second episode, you can clearly see that after seeing what happens in NYC... a change comes over him. His face changes, and it seems a bit like he loses some of his innocence; possibly realizing the old Spiderman idiom. "With great power comes great responcibility"
He also seems to have the most knowledge about his powers having used atleast three seperate instances of it.
Time: One second backin time.
Space: into the womans washroom.
Time & space: To NYC 5 weeks in the future.
On a second note, The politician, as shown in ep 2, wins the election "in a landslide". Since it's revealed early in ep. 1 or 2 i forget, that he is behind like 5-9 points in the polls, he must do something that radically changes the public opinion of him.
Something... Heroic? Something...Super?

Is it? That could be the case, but I don't think the show has given us anything concrete one way or the other. She did say in the video that this was the xth attempt, though it's not clear if the first attempt was when she discovered her powers or if the attempts came after she discovered she couldn't be hurt. I can see her discovery being something mundane, a small cut that healed instantly, or a fall while cheerleading that should have broken something but didn't.
It certainly could be the case that Claire discovered her abilities through a suicide attempt, but unless I'm mistaken (which, of course, is impossible), we don't know that for sure yet.

Absolutely. Hiro is definately moving toward his hero destiny, but let's not forget that Claire is the one who has performed a heroic act for a stranger with her train wreck rescue. I would say that she's on a way to being a superhero in her own right.
Though you bring up a very interesting point about Nathan. He told Peter himself that he's behind in the polls, yet he wins the election. Obviously, something very radical does happen. Though I'm not sure it's in Nathan's nature to be heroic. He comes across as very selfish and apathetic. Of course, there's still five whole weeks between now and the election, who knows what could have happened in between.
I've watched this the first two weeks, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed so far. They're still setting up all the characters, so things are kind of "slow" for now, but I expect they'll pick up quickly. We've already had a glimpse into the future, after all. My favorite character so far is Claire, the cheerleader. Uber-regeneration would be a very cool power to have, and I think she's been portrayed as dealing with it (and discovering its limitations) realistically.
It certainly could be the case that Claire discovered her abilities through a suicide attempt, but unless I'm mistaken (which, of course, is impossible), we don't know that for sure yet.
A little egotistic aren't we? and whats not to say she didn't try to kill her self? Popular people always have that pressure from peers and such to follow along and not, like, think for yourself. And Claire obivously didn't look comfortable with all the attention she's getting could of wanted to end it all, and BOOM, she finds out she can't be injured.

There's nothing saying that she didn't try to kill herself for real before knowing about her powers. Which is my point. There's nothing to indicate anything one way or the other. Her mention of many past attempts could point to the discovery of her powers being linked to an initial suicide attempt, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. The attempts could have come after the discovery of her powers as a way to test the limits in increasingly dangerous ways. She likely would have started small, injuries that would harm but not seriously damage her but when those proved to be managable by her powers, she started in on more serious injuries until eventually she got to things that should have killed her if not for her abilities.
I think Claire actually being suicidal is plausible, and can definately work within the boundaries of what we know of her so far. I'm just not convinced that this is definately the case.
This show is rather awesome. Personally I want to know what's up with Silar. Clearly the professor had contact with him, and he's behind these murders... but there has got to be something more. First of all, in his message to the professor he mentioned a "hunger" of some sort. So he and the professor clearly made contact... it could be that the professor even "awakened" Silar. Then there's the question of how he freezes people. Is it part of his powers, or does he just carry around a big tub of liquid nitrogen?

Wait, I missed that part, all I knew was he tore peoples heads in half and ate the brains, and did it in the past before. I didn't see the part about freezing.
Also, anyone hear about the lawsuit some garbage deposial company made because of Claire putting her hand down the sink? I heard about it today on attack of the show.

The man at Matt's crime scene was very clearly frozen. I don't believe Isaac was when Hiro found him, but the first guy was a brain-shucked popsicle.

Fair. I'm not going to stick to either at this point, since neither seems to be significantly more likely than the other based on what we know so far.

I'm pretty sure he was. Maybe he was just shrivelled up or something, but he definitely looked similar to the guy from the crime scene.
Also I don't think Claire is suicidal. I just think she's quickly come to terms with her abilities, and is oddly fascinated with them. Just look at the way she quickly reached into that grinder. She didn't hesitate- she already has "disabled" her fear of being hurt.
Thanks for the recreation of the drawing, try to get the screencap of it if you can. I have already changed my previous post made about it.
Found a screencap spliced with a comparison to the actual scene, which is pretty handy. Turns out my kindergarten-level doodle was fairly accurate, though not because of any artistic skills on my part.
Indeed it is. It pops up mostly in Isaac's paintings, but it can also be seen in the code Mohinder and ObviousPlantedSpyNeighbourChick found in Papa Suresh's apartment. And now in Peter's drawing.
I'm not even for a second going to speculate on what it is, since all we know about it is that it looks like a funky F.

Sylar could be getting powers from eating brains of super-people. For example, the frozen man at the crime scene could have had freezing powers he didn't know about, then Sylar came and took the freezing ability, testing it out on the corpse of the now headless man. This would also give Sylar a big inner conflict between eating his daughter for her stronger-than-strong powers and.......not eating her.
Another theory is that Sylar and Peter have the same ability. Whenever they're around a hero they temporarily gain that hero's abilities while eating the brain makes the powers permanent. This would also give Sylar a reason other than "daddy's little girl" to keep Claire safe and nearby, so he could have her powers while not having to face the pain of eating his daughter's brain.
Definately a very good show, Hiro and Peter are my favorite characters.

woah, woah, woah. It is far from certain that the guy who looks like Gordon Freeman is Sylar. In fact it may be impossible- the murder in the second episode took place in LA, and that guy was in Texas the whole time.

I don't buy into the Mr Bennet = Sylar theory. It's entirely probable that the series will have more than one antagonist. In the director's cut of the pilot, there was a mutant terrorist who could emit radiation from his hands (and in his backstory, he killed his wife by accident and grew unhinged as a result) and it was he who crashed the train in Odessa that Claire saved the man from. I've heard rumblings that though this character didn't survive the edits to the pilot, he may yet appear soon. Meaning we'd have at least two antagonists anyway.
I think Mr Bennet is more likely to be part of a shadowy organization that is trying to identify, study and possibly contain these people with abilities. I personally like the idea of him not being bad at all, just mysterious. I mean, we haven't really seen him do anything bad yet, we all just assume he's a bad guy. And it would be awesome to see the conflict that would arrise if he had to choose between protecting his daughter and doing his job.
