So far I've only seen seven seasons of Survivor (1-7) and I honestly think that Rob (season 6) is the single best player and I don't think that my mind will change after I'll see the other seasons. Yes, I know he didn't won (wich realy pissed me off, because he deserved to win) but he was still the best player and he still played the best. Even though he stabbed everyone, I realy think that if Jenna had picked him instead of Mathew to the finals he would've won (he could easly pursue the tribal council [or atleast 4 of them] to vote him as the winner). It realy seemed unfair that he didn't even won the 2nd prize. Anyway, who do you think is the best player of Survivor ever and what do you think about Rob's play?
Definately belongs in enetrtainment. Thread moved,
I've watched every single episode of Survivor but one (Which is ironically the first episode). My favourite player would probably be Rob Cesternaito or however its spelled, he was charismatic, didn't do anything ridiculous, and played the game very very well. Secondly, from a purely gameplay stance, Jonny "Fair Play" probably played the game the best. However, I'm all for some sneaky tactics, but in my opinion, some of the stuff he did just crossed the line.
I would argue that the only ones who played the game best were the players that won. Really, in a competition, the goal is to win so if you didn't win, you obviously could have played better.
Though if you want to talk the best players to never win, Rob Cesternino was ace. Mariano certainly ran the show during All-Stars, though, and he deserves a lot of respect for that.
But you know what's ironic thing about Jenna wining and Rob doesn't? That if he wanted (at early stages), Rob could easly have Jenna out if he just wanted to. Ofcours back then he didn't take her for a threat, wich is realy too bad.

That's not really ironic. It's just an example of how even though Cesternino was amazingly crafty (and I believe he's certainly the smartest player they've had to date, a real 'student of the game' as they say), he had the same problem that a lot of players do; they underestimate players when they shouldn't. In a game like Survivor, every player is an equal threat because everyone gets an equal vote. Some may be powerhouses in physical challenges, or really devious with scheming, but those aren't the only things that amount to a threat in the game. Players like Jenna are often a huge threat, since it's easy for them to fly under the radar and turn on you once they've used you for all you're worth. Rob not recognizing that was a huge oversight on his part.
Shame they didn't do a second million granted by the audience votes. (what season was that? 7, right?) Because if they do, Rob would almost defintally won it.

I absolutely abhor the audience-granted $1 million prize. That a loser could win the same amount as the actual winner (who had to actually achieve something to get that money) just on the basis of being popular is cheap and pitiful. If the prize were a hundred grand or something, I wouldn't hate the idea so much, but I really despise that the popularity contest awarded the same amount as the actual Survivor competition. It cheapens the actual game.
Though even if there ever were a second audience vote, Rob C would probably still lose. There's just too many bigger faces for him to get enough votes. The audience doesn't vote by who played better, they vote by who entertained them the most. That much is obvious since Rupert won the last vote and he was about as good a player as a rock would be. All he had going for him is that he had a great ability at charming the gullible with his low selfesteem, chest-thumping antics. Rob C would have no chance going up against other favorites like Sue Hawk or Stephanie. He's probably a much better player, but he's in no way more popular.
Ok, so I would settle for another Survivor show where they take previous players and start a new game with them. Even if Rob still won't win, it still fun to see him play.
