Well... Wrestlezone is reporting that the Manichi Daily News is reporting that Mitsuharu's death was caused by damage to his cervical spinal cord as a result of the back suplex he took on his head.
Though I'm going to argue the Chris Benoit's double murder/suicide was probably a darker day in wrestling history. Though the fact that a wrestler died in the ring is pretty bad.
I don't think it will be a Duk Koo Kim moment because quite frankly most wrestling fans in the U.S. and other English speaking parts of the world will not have heard of this guy, and secondly, the wrestling match was not televised live in the United States.

Benoit passed under very, very rough circumstances, while Misawa died doing what he loved. Beyond that, Misawa was quite possibly the greatest wrestler to have ever lived; Benoit isn't even in the top 5, and his achievements are a complete joke when compared head-to-head.
The wrestling world lost it's greatest ambassador; a man who TRULY transcended the sport (as it is in Japan, anyway), and no amount of mark ignorance will make this event any less tragic.
The fact that he owned NOAH as he passed, leaving the company in serious Jeopardy, only compounds the facts elsewhere.
They're both the product of an era where destroying your body means fame and fortune. Plus, he's not exactly unknown in the US: NOAH had a fairly strong presence in Hawaii at least and he was on an ROH show not too long ago. Many a wrestling game either has him or his signatures (even Smackdown still has the combo to rolling elbow IIRC)
got me interested how the hell they got MTG referenced though o.O
My gess is Morrison and Miz played it in High School. Not be suprised they still play Magic to tell the truth.
Also last night, Night of Champions was not a bad show. Big Show being Jericho's partner was sweet. Oh and Jeff Hardy getting back the World Title was cool after he kicked out of a GTS from Punk.
