Tl:Dr, EPA and national park nonsense pushed me over the edge. You know, the person who ACTUALLY decided to give him a chance to see what he'd do.
What did you THINK he would do?
He's doing precisely what he promised to do.
If he focuses on jobs and the economy, however much I disagree with the methods, it may help him.
While I understand this mindset, we should be unnerved by the willingness to overlook erosion of rights and open discrimination against minorities and women in our government in exchange for profit.
Oh I just wanted to shut up everyone I know who was using that argument against me. Now I can!
And yes, I am very unnerved by it too, but I also consider it very unfocused. When I talk about focus, I also mean proper and thoughtful implementation.
He's not doing any of these things. He's making more and more enemies by the day.
I'm not fiddling. I'm asking reasonable questions like "what has he done?" and getting Hitler comps as answers.
Obama bombs Yemen, wins Nobel Peace Prize. Trump places temporary ban on Yemeni immigration and he's Hitler. You see how this is difficult to take seriously? Meanwhile, the hijab is a symbol of female liberation and Western Christianity is repressive, Mexico is telling the U.S. that it can't do anything about its porous southern border all the while Mexico itself sure as heck is concerned about its southern border, NATO is whining about the U.S. being a poor ally when practically everyone besides the U.S., U.K. and Poland haven't fulfilled their treaty obligations in decades, Bern fans are complaining about Trump being an isolationist just because he's treating trade exactly like Bernie promised to and leftists are outraged at the phrase "alternative facts" after they've been warping the minds of our children with their moral and cultural relativism for years.
You are the only person to bring up Hitler/the Nazis in the past three pages of the thread (posts from this year).
Can you provide recent citations or sound reasoning for this list of statements and implications in your post?
Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize because of bombing Yemen.
Trump is compared to Hitler because of the temporary ban on Yemeni immigration.
People are saying en masse that the hijab is a symbol of female liberation.
People are saying en masse that Western Christianity is repressive.
Mexico has communicated that it can't do anything about the US/Mexico border.
Mexico has shown particular recent concern for its southern border.
Practically everyone in NATO hasn't fulfilled their treaty obligations in decades.
Bern fans are complaining about Trump being an isolationist.
Trump is treating trade exactly like Bernie promised to do.
Leftists have been warping the minds of our children with their moral and cultural relativism for years.
I'd also like to call out the comparison between subjective morality to "alternative facts", a label that's applied to something objective.

Plenty of people believe morality is objective as well though.
I mean, I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't think it'd be as bad as it's been. It hasn't even been a week and it's spiraling so badly out of control. It really makes me wonder how exactly the next four years are going to have any silver lining when it comes to the government short of open revolt.
How is this bad? It's pretty awesome so far. He's doing basically the same things that almost every other POTUS candidate would have done but in funnier ways. For example, exposing steaming pile of garbage Buzzfeed and their fake news pals. One thing that impressed me so far is how much work the guy is putting in. He's on an absolute tear right now. I get the sense that we're supposed to be super pissed at the idea that American taxpayers aren't funding abortions overseas anymore but honestly that doesn't bother me.
I mean, if the only thing you feel you can do is fiddle that's all fine and dandy, but other people are going to be more concerned with putting out the fires he's setting. Granted there is only so much that can be done, but it makes me glad I live in California given that the state seems ready to fight him tooth and nail. Half-hearted resistance isn't really going to work here.

Maybe I need to start fiddling.
People are outraged at 'alternative facts' because, as a sop to his own ego, the President of the United States sent his Press Secretary out to assert a larger turnout at his inauguration than a previous one, and when called on these lies, his counselor said that they weren't lies, but 'alternative facts'.
For some reason, people seem concerned that the President and his administration are willing to lie to the people they govern in the face of blatant proof to the contrary, and over something so trivial. Quite how this relates to moral and cultural relativism, I'm not sure; how were the minds of your children warped?

Dude, at what point are you going to abandon this facade that you're a libertarian?
I mean, basically, you profess that governments are inherently violent organizations designed to oppress the people, right? That's the whole thing you've been saying up until now?
So you'd think that when the President of the United States has his press secretary openly lie to the American public - about something ridiculously petty I might add - in such an obvious and transparent way, when he commands government organizations to repress any reporting of facts that might contradict this outright lie, and then goes ahead and infringes upon the rights of people, you should probably be concerned, right? Like, logically, someone who fears oppression of the weak against the powerful should be opposed to this *****, right?
But no. You're defending him. You're freaking trying to downplay this.
Trump's immigration ban doesn't cover Middle Eastern countries where Trump companies operate. [link]
EDIT: the ban is supposedly Muslims only (which I'm pretty sure is against freedom of religion laws but whatever), but at least two families of Christian refugees have been turned away despite having green cards. [link]
Also, as I've been saying for a while now (check the previous thread), anti-Muslim laws just make ISIS recruitment easier, because the central beat of ISIS propaganda is "the crusaders are trying to destroy Islam and declare war on all Muslims, we must revolt". [link]
EDIT: Tying the two stories together: Bannon and Miller vetoed the blanket exclusion of Green Card holders from the immigration ban against the advice of Homeland Security, decided on a case by case basis. [link]
I guess the real question we should be asking ourselves is how long until President Trump gets impeached from office since he's already treading on thin ice with the recent executive order on immigration by banning Muslim refugees from entering the country let alone state governments trying to pass hate speech bills into law that would be considered unconstitutional under the 1st Amendment. An acquittal is more than likely unless something comes up in his tax returns that he's hiding for some apparent reason especially in regards to his conflicts of interest and his business ties across the globe though he could end up being forced to resign If the pressure of being POTUS gets too out of hand.
One could argue that the reason why Donald Trump got elected POTUS was due to a lie perpetrated by Russian propaganda that Hillary Clinton would've started World War III by implementing a no-fly zone in Syria when Chris Christie said he'd do the same thing as POTUS If elected as Rand Paul pointed out in the Republican Primaries last year. While it's true that the Democrats didn't reach out to the Middle Class far enough they still paid a heavy price partially due to false information of Hillary's e-mail server that the FBI believed to be true when it was all just Russian propaganda made up by Vladimir Putin to help get Donald Trump elected.

How do you think he's going to get impeached? He's done nothing wrong, and to be honest he has followed up on all of his campaign promises, which is something most politicians (ahem, Obama) have not done.
I may be biased as a conservative, but he seems to be doing a great job so far. You must've been reading a little too much of the propaganda known as CNN my friend...

While it's not a permanent ban I do understand the concern in regards to the rise of radical Islamic terrorism and how this only stokes the flames of ISIS/ISIL even more especially in regards to his tone and rhetoric on the campaign trail leading up to his presidency. Globalization has gotten to a point where not allowing American consumers to buy products outside the U.S. hurts our economy more than helps when automation has gotten to a point where we won't be able to get the kind of manufacturing jobs we had before NAFTA was enacted during the Clinton Administration, those jobs are GONE they aren't coming back.
Barack Obama pointed out as to why President Trump goes after the press and media so much on Twitter in his farewell speech in Chicago before leaving office as POTUS by saying that "partisan bubbles" represent a threat to our democracy because people have become so secure in their bubbles that they only accept information that fits into their opinions instead of basing their opinions on the evidence that's out there cause without baseline facts, willingness to admit new information, and concede that the ones people argue with are making a fair point, that science and reason matter, then we'll keep talking past each other by making common ground and compromise impossible.

Exactly. I think he is trying to say moral and cultural relativism is like alternative facts in distorting the objective truth.
I don't think they are quite comparable IMO.
EDIT: Even more so if you consider that, as I think, 'alternative facts' is not an honest idea, whereas relativism is.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Think of it this way. The physical theory of relativity describes an objective, not subjective, reality. Different observers have different perceptions, but what a given observer perceives is predictable by law and irrespective of their personal opinion. There are theories of moral/cultural relativism that do the same thing.

Would you care to provide back up for your points as stated below. Or are we to come to the conclusion that like a lot of your recent posting you can't as its connection to reality is tenuous at best.
Mr. Bannon remains the president’s dominant adviser, despite Mr. Trump’s anger that he was not fully briefed on details of the executive order he signed giving his chief strategist a seat on the National Security Council, a greater source of frustration to the president than the fallout from the travel ban.
There's a lot to pick through here, but a key point is that on at least one occasion, Donald Trump appears to have signed an executive order without carefully reading it. [link]

So yeah. I'd like to open up the floor to anyone to try to defend this travel ban. Anyone at all. Bonus points if you can work in how you're protecting things like freedom and American values.
To no one's surprise, took less than a month for a Constitution violation.
So Giuliani has come out saying that Trump approached him telling him he wanted to do a "Muslim ban" and asking how he could do it "legally."
Yeah, every time someone says "it's not a muslim ban!" I think "it might not technically be a muslim ban..." but it's clearly intended to be. And unlike Magic, the law actually cares about intent.
Although in both the Lukumi Babalu Aye case and this one, there was also a smoking gun of discriminatory intent in the text of the law itself: the exemption for kosher butchers in the one, and the exemption for members of religious minorities in the other. So even if you really are looking at the text alone, as Scalia was in Lukumi Babalu Aye, it's still unconstitutional.
In addition to spinning a Massacre out of thin air it appears that Trump is claiming that certain attacks weren't given the media attention they deserved. The Guardian have the list here along with how they were actually reported.
On reading the list I was struck by something I am saying a lot up in Rulings, when asking about something specific spelling counts. Its not so bad when it means I need to do a little extra work to get card text, but when you are a government agent of one form or another the ability to spell 'Attacker' and Denmark correctly does help. Or if you can't, learn how to use that do you mean sugestion Google gives you...

Why did I expect Betsy DeVos to not get through the Senate?
I mean, yes, she is objectively a horrendous choice for the office. Yes, not only is she not qualified, but if you were to design in your mind someone who would be the worst possible pick for the office, she'd either be exactly what you'd imagine or come damn close.
But, why did I expect Republicans to not approve of her?
After all, if qualifications actually mattered, and if anyone were actually going to stand up to Trump about it, then they would have done so by not voting for him.
This is the most rudimentary test of character ever, and ALL BUT TWO Republican senators failed utterly.
I believe TYT had a graph recently that showed the amount of money that the Senators who voted on DeVos' confirmation have received either from DeVos directly or from her family (not sure if they got it from Politico or The Post).
So yeah the fact that they could still vote even though they had a clear conflict of interest there is why I dont expect anything to make sense for the next 4 years.
