So basically, Infallible's argument for supporting Trump is, "We can ignore Trump every time he says something that is wrong or morally troubling, but we can still trust him when he says stuff I agree with. Because that's what trustworthiness is."
Bonus points to anyone who can spot the obvious problem with this.
Trump himself said that he could kill a bunch of people in broad daylight on a public street and his supporters would still vote for him.
Good luck having a Republican Party if the plan is to upset the two front runners at the convention.
If a brokered convention happens and Trump loses the nomination America will go ape *****. He just pulled in 100k+ voters in Michigan last night. I would hope the RNC isn't that stupid. I would hope.

I literally reject any critisim based on things he has said that aren't immediately proven false. If you go back and read the thread you'll see me concede more than once that I was wrong on topics. I'm not unreasonable, I just don't adhere to this liberal "HE WASN'T POLITICALLY CORRECT" nonsense. I was asked to prove how Trump isn't a bigot; literally how can I actually do that? I can't, and neither can anyone saying he is.

You have been quite good on conceding some points. It makes me feel there is hope for you. Somehow I hope we can pull you all the way over to the light side.
I just don't adhere to this liberal "HE WASN'T POLITICALLY CORRECT" nonsense. I was asked to prove how Trump isn't a bigot; literally how can I actually do that? I can't, and neither can anyone saying he is.
Alright let's put this to bed its not liberal to be politically correct its just respectful, which is the way that reasonable adults should treat each other. Something Trump knows nothing about. I posed the question about disproving his bigotry knowing it was impossible I just wanted to see to what level you would go to attempt to do so. Good job for avoiding it. That brings up the other problem with Trump, everything he does is noncommittal. He makes these outrageous statements to test the waters then backtracks if the water is too hot for him. He does so much pandering and going back and forth on issues it makes my head spin.
Good luck having a Republican Party if the plan is to upset the two front runners at the convention.
We don't have a Republican Party now.
Good luck having a country if either of them is the nominee. Trump is the kind of candidate that you actively design your political system to safeguard against.
If the Republican party is going to fracture because they denied Trump a shot at the presidency, I applaud them. Go down with dignity, GOP.

Infallible, you've repeatedly vouched for Trump's trustworthiness IN THE SAME POST as in which you're saying that Trump just says things in order to get elected. You're immediately proving yourself false.
Good luck having a Republican Party if the plan is to upset the two front runners at the convention.

That is your opinion, and this is why we have a republic. The system is not meant to override the public's election choice based on the what's considered best for them by some elite few.
Also, when 70-80% of the primary votes are actively against Establishment candidates, it's less "fracture" and more implosion. I hardly think you care if the GOP goes down with dignity, but that move is the essence of corrupt elites attempting to rig the voting process.
It's an interesting assessment, and I can't vouch for the accuracy of it, but what used to exist doesn't anymore. There's a few things that have happened.
Here's the thing: you're presuming that friction among the various interest groups that make up the Republican party hasn't happened before. It's rather been an issue for a while. John McCain, for example, had a thorn in his side throughout his entire presidential run because he was a moderate who had to cater to the more conservative Republicans to get their support. And we all remember the Tea Party. This is just an extension of that.
I believe the Republican party's split is inevitable. The moderates and the more right-leaning have been incompatible for a while now. It's just Trump is bringing the issue to the forefront. If it were just Cruz, the issue would still be there, but people would be able to ignore it for a while. But when someone as ridiculous as Trump is able to maintain about a third of the primary voters' support, then it illuminates just what kind of rift is in the Republican Party. It's like seeing a cockroach come out of a wall, then knocking down the wall to reveal a nest: it was always there, it's just that Trump and Cruz are forcing you to really look at and address it.
Likewise, I believe the Democrats are going to face a similar schism as illustrated by the growing socialist movement. I think the result will be three camps: a party further right than right-of-center, a party further left than left-of-center, and a party of political moderates who are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I anticipate that the more right-leaning party will die off, leaving the fiscally-conservative/socially-liberal party to square off against the fiscally-liberal/socially-liberal party.
That is your opinion, and this is why we have a republic. The system is not meant to override the public's election choice based on the what's considered best for them by some elite few.
I'm rather of the opinion that educated people opposing the rise in power of a demagogue who will undeniably harm the country is what this system is built upon. And if the GOP is, within the rules of their system, capable of preventing Donald Trump from becoming the nominee, then power to them.

If you want to have a system where some group of elites (educated/rich/powerful/religious/insert your group of people) can override the votes of the public, then you might be wanting for a different system than a democracy or a republic.
Again, it is your opinion that Cruz or Trump would harm the country. Evidently 70-80% of primary voters do not agree.
The term "Liberal Dog Pile" is starting to make a lot more sense to me.

Read more Federalist Papers. There are many mechanisms built not just into the party apparatus but into the actual Constitution of the United States with the express purpose of overriding the wishes of a demagogically-misled public. The Founding Fathers were aware of, feared, and took steps to counter precisely the sort of threat that Trump and his supporters pose.
Again, it is your opinion that Cruz or Trump would harm the country. Evidently 70-80% of primary voters do not agree.
Harm isn't a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. If 70-80% of the public didn't think asbestos was harmful, they'd still end up with lung cancer all the same.

Alright let's put this to bed its not liberal to be politically correct its just respectful, which is the way that reasonable adults should treat each other.
I seriously disagree with this.
A lot of the political correctness that has been peddled in the last 3-4 years has come from a very specific group of people: SJWs. There has been a huge push in the current time frame to basically make Tumblr politics mainstream. This can be seen for example in colleges where there are "safe spaces" (which are basically like daycare rooms) set up to shield students from any sort of dissenting thought. You have more comedians coming out and saying that they won't visit colleges because nobody can take a joke anymore due to the extreme amount of political correctness. This has gone far beyond just treating someone with respect. It's about getting drunk with power to forcibly control the narrative of a conversation in a way that makes it so that anything outside of the echo chamber is brutally suppressed.
A lot of Trump supporters aren't just anti-PC for the sake of being against political correctness, they are explicitly anti-SJW.
He will give in and pay for the wall. He doesn't have a choice if what Trump wants to make happen actually happens. Assuming he CAN make it happen, and I have my doubts myself.

I think both of those things are ridiculous. Despite what he might lie to you there is no chance that he can get Mexico to pay for a border wall. It is a ridiculous fantasy that I cannot believe people actually believe is a feasible goal for us as Americans. Statistically, Donald Trump is a bigger liar than Clinton is.
