Pretty self explanatory. Do you find Breastfeeding socially acceptable in public as a perfectly natural thing, or do you consider it indecent exposure? Or really, anything in between.
Nothing wrong with it. Honestly it really shouldn't turn you on unless you have strange fetishes.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I don't mind as long as they cover themselves up for decencies sake.
more out of respect for her than anything else.
it's less disgusting than the time I saw a girl change her babies pooped diaper in a booth at a restaurant.
that was pretty unappetizing.
however as natural as it is I still don't want to be in a public place with a women having her boob hanging out feeding her kid. in a sense it is about respect for yourself and those around you.

I have no problem with it. My wife is breastfeeding at the moment, and occasionally the baby has needed a feed when we're in public, and so he gets one.
No one has complained to us about it yet, not that we'd be particularly sympathetic if they did.
@Mystery45: Fortunately you have every opportunity to leave said public place, if public breastfeeding bothers you.

I am willing to bet my collection that Frozen and Solid are not on the same card. For example, Frozen Tomb and Solid Wall.
If Frozen Solid is not reprinted, you are aware that I'm quoting you in my sig for eternity?
Maybe our european friends can comment on this better, but when I was hopping countries over in the good ole EU milk ads and general television had full breasts like it was a normal thing to do. It is really only our hypersensitive US culture that makes breasts need to be hidden. After that adventure, I really don't see the big deal with just letting breasts be out in the open for any occasion.
Then again, you could drink and smoke at like 14 depending on the country.
@Mystery45: Fortunately you have every opportunity to leave said public place, if public breastfeeding bothers you.
since when has this ever been an arguement?
If you want to go this route then. If you don't like someone praying in a place then you are free to leave or any other type of similar arguement.
They can pump a bottle before hand. they could breastfeed before hand.
Most women i know that breastfeed have the decency to cover themselves up. why? because they respect themselves and other people around them.
Even my wife did it when she breastfed. She just didn't hang it out there and latch a kid on for everyone to see.
it wasn't about being ashamed as tiax tried to argue (which isn't an arguement) it is about respect.
I never said they couldn't do it but if you are have a little respect for yourself and other people around you.

To the best of my knowelge praying is NOT illegal in public places, If I went to a park and said the Lords prayer I doupt anyone would give a dam.
They can pump a bottle before hand. they could breastfeed before hand.
Depends on the women, Some women don't have as much milk/the child might not be hungery.
Most women i know that breastfeed have the decency to cover themselves up. why? because they respect themselves and other people around them.
Or are too ashamed to have pride in themselves? Yes this is my body and its purfect just the way it is?
it wasn't about being ashamed as tiax tried to argue (which isn't an arguement) it is about respect.
I agree, I feel you should have enough respect and pride in yourself to be 100% comfterable with your body, If other people do not that is their problem.
I never said they couldn't do it but if you are have a little respect for yourself and other people around you.
So why do you not have respect for the next generation? Should they not be given every chance to excel? Insuring a child gets more nurishment = better chance for the child, why do you want our next generation to be worse off?

Nothing to do with sex everything to do with the betterment of the child.
Sex is perfectly natural why cant I bang my wife in the park?
Pooping is natural, why cant I bring a bucket and take a dump in it on the sidewalk?
Just saying that it's natural is not a good enough reason to say it should be a publicly viewed event. There is a reason that women cannot just walk down the street topless (I dont believe it's a good reason but it exists).
I dont understand why it's a huge deal for a woman to be expected to make a reasonable attempt to cover up. If she needs to breastfeed in Target why not go to a changing room instead of sitting down in the middle of the women's clothing department?

And in NY I would expect breast feeding in public to also be considered no big deal. However it is still up to private businesses to decide what to do in the private store. As far as I know businesses in NY are still allowed to refuse service to topless women(which they can also do with men). So they could also refuse service to a woman that decided to start breastfeeding in the store.
I guess, although in the Netherlands, I'm not so sure an owner of anything can actually make decisions like that, without the government having a weekend-long debate on the matter.
Ahh in the US it's perfectly legal and quite common for a business to have a "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy. A business is allowed to refuse service for any reason (for instance if I tried to pay for a $20 item in all pennies they could just say no). Using these ideas it seems perfectly acceptable to me for a business to decide that they do not want breastfeeding happening in the open areas of the store (in the middle of an aisle or walkway) and refuse service which would then mean the patron is trespassing if they do not leave.
Now public streets and parks are an entirely different matter.
A business is allowed to refuse service for any reason (for instance if I tried to pay for a $20 item in all pennies they could just say no).
That's not really true.
A business cannot refuse to serve you based on being a member of a protected class. They also cannot refuse to serve you if there is no reason not to do so. Business are private institutions but exist to "serve the public". If a business says "I won't sevre you because you are black", you can sue them for discrimination, if they say "I won't serve you because you have blue eyes" you can also sue them because that's not a reasonable reason to refuse service.
Having no shoes or no shirt qualifies as reason enough to deny service. I'm pretty sure having your boobs hanging out when you are feeding a baby would qualify as well. They are expected social norms concerning decency in this country, and you can't toss them aside and expect everyone to follow suit.

Sorry, you are correct, it cannot be literally any reason. But we know that the dress code for public places is not the same as the dress code for private business and by that merit alone a business can deny service to someone that is breastfeeding. (also the paying in pennies thing is true, a business can refuse service for paying in pennies, despite it being legal tender)

That is still not quite correct. Michigan, for example, has a law prohibiting stores/other semi-public locations from kicking women out for breastfeeding. I believe (although, I'm not sure) that if they just whipped it out and didn't attempt to be discrete and/or cover they could still be removed for the same reason someone not wearing a shirt could be removed, but the plain act of feeding itself is not justification.

This I think is the key to this whole debate. Social norms exist, and should be respected, especially when they don't cause any harm. It has nothing to do with "being ashamed of your breasts". it has to do with what our society has established as polite and civil behavior.
If you want to challenge social norms, thats great. Go for it. But don't expect people following them to accommodate you.

Again sure, if the state/city has a specific law covering it. But I have seen numerous occasions where people lose their **** when a store kicks a woman out for breastfeeding in areas where there are no laws covering the subject. Which baffles me because a naked boob is a naked boob. I dont quite understand the reasoning that a naked boob is ok in public just because it's being used in feeding. If women should be allowed to have their breasts exposed then just make that the case instead of trying to have special cases for breastfeeding.

The thing that gets me is you don't need to expose yourself to breastfeed. You can have a cover over the area and the baby so your tits aren't on public display.
Women who whip them out in full view to breastfeed are just trying to be provocative/troll everyone else. It's super annoying.
The entire debate is silly to me. The reason why we don't poop, pee, or screw in public is that it's unhygenic. The social norms follow the gross. Breastfeeding doesn't spill any bodily fluids unless your boobs are really, really full, and even then, you're gonna get like one drip on your underboob. In many cases it's the cleanest way to feed an infant, seeing as they're generally not the most conscientious about keeping their bottle/cracker/other food source in their mouths as opposed to their hair, the floor, etc.
Breastfeeding is natural, beautiful, and much healthier for the baby than any other option -- yes, including pumping and giving it to the baby later. It should be done whenever and wherever your infant is hungry, period.

Then women should also be allowed to walk around topless.
This debate really has nothing to do with breastfeeding. It is about publicly displaying female breasts. If I have some weird dick condition where every so often I need to let my dick air out or I will get an uncomfortable rash should I be allowed to whip out my dick in public? No. I would be expected to go to a restroom and air it out there or wear a kilt.
If women really really need to feed their infants they too can go into a restroom/changing area or use clothing that still covers their breasts while they feed their infants.
If we as a society feel that we are ready for women's breasts to be exposed in public then lets have that discussion. There should not be special rules just for breastfeeding. It is completely unnecessary.
