(1) The computer makes a lot of boneheaded moves from time to time, like using Giant Growth on one of my guys instead of theirs, choosing me as the target for a Stream of Life or casting Disintegrate on themselves. It doesn't happen terribly often or the game would be awful, but the fact that it ever happens is disturbing.
This is a side effect of the low difficulty levels. Don't play on the easiest one.

Glad to see people still enjoying and discussing this game- I'm working on part 2 of this article series right now- it's going to be a lighthearted walkthrough showing off the game from start to finish and basking in some of its more ridiculous features. To anyone reading this who hasn't played the game to death already: anything in particular you'd like to see from a walkthrough?

Just reinstalled and played it after remembering it was on here.
U/B control deck with wincons in Hippy and Mishra's Factory.. 3 Ancestral Recalls, 2 Contracts from Below, and a boatload of counterspells and killspells.. And Boomerangs in case Karma somehow gets through the wall of counters.
Only loses to powersurge.dec, and even then, not very often. Mishra's factory is a wonderful manasink.
Gotta admit though. Considering how things were back in that day, devs of the game were damn clever in defining the synergies of their decks.

It is fine to have beliefs. It is idiotic to think that they are in any way significant.
This game is still really fun, but it doesn't work %100 for me. I cannot see any cards to add to my deck while playing in Shandalar. Only way to get them in is to add by color, which is a huge pain because you have to keep removing them. Plus it won't add non basic lands that way.
If the company can release a version for tablets, it will probably make millions.
Is the company responsible for this game still active?
No. It has been sold several times, and now it is part of a group what I know nothing about. Anyway, if there is a bit of Microprose left, it is probably only the name and not the people that made the game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroProse
Where can I download a new life? I need a do over.
Recipe for running an obsolete-hardware obsolete-OS game on a modern tablet:
1. Have a modern PC with VMWare or other such virtualization software, running a virtual machine of an older OS, older hardware, and with the desired older software installed therein.
2. Use a remote-desktop software like Splashtop on your modern tablet to control the desktop of your modern PC and, with it, the VM of the older machine. It will display to your tablet whatever is showing on the PC screen and will relay tablet touches to the PC (and thus the VM) as mouse clicks at that position.

My blog.

Manalink 2.0 adds some slowdown to make it more playable. I'd suggest finding that.

I had the same problem. Loading Manalink 2.0 + a reboot afterwards seemed to clear things up.

Anyone have a fix?

Android OS it wouldn't be difficult. For the Apple? Feh...
Only if Wizards decides to do it, seriously.
Get an x86 tablet?
