This thread is for the discussion of my latest article, Good Game. Burn, Baby, Burn. We would be grateful if you would let us know what you think, but please keep your comments on topic.
Just wanted to say i enjoyed the article. These days i generally get bored and skip through half of it but i liked this even though i dislike extended (i like to playmy 4 and 5 drops which seem too slow here)
Yeah it would, but Vortex was 3rd turn. Lasher is second turn and torment is 4th so if he's runnin burn, he should be able to play lasher followed by a burn on turn 3 and swing. If he hits, they can't gain life even if lasher dies later. Idk I don't play extended so I wouldn't know how fast extended is, but I'm thinking that torment is too slow bc once baneslayer hits, it's lifegain is stupid, at least in standard if u can't answer she's stupid. Isn't he running 2 drops anyways? But like I said, idk much about the meta in extended.

I don't disagree that it may not be the correct choice for the deck, but it is a three-drop; same as vortex. Of more concern it that they're bad topdecks once you have one in play.

o... My b. Thought it cost 2 r/b r/b. Well then hells yes go with torment. Yeah topdecking it would stink and dmg can't be prevented which has it's pros and cons.

it doesn't do anything. 2 damage a turn is a good clock.
Deck seems cold to GR Scapeshift, and elves, and living end, and DD/thopter (the vesion that plays both.
have you tested any of these? if modo and live ptq results are any indication then i think this deck would be less then a great choice...
I've tested quite a bit against U/G/R Scapeshift and Thopter. Definately not cold to them. I tested a bit against elves. Again, not really cold. Why would I be? I run a crap-ton of burn. And they don't go off as fast as they used to (no turn two, now turn three). as for dark depths, that's a deck on the decline, though GerryT may be responsible for an upswing--but then, the matchup is very similar to the Thopter matchup. I have not tested living end at all. Do you have a decklist?
nice article... the girl (Dark Depths) is very sexy:P
Which girl? Vampire Hexmage, with that swarm of huge black cockroaches all over her? Or the big Marit Lage, with her curvy tentacles?

I'm a former judge (lapsed), who keeps up to date on rules and policy. Keep in mind that judges' answers aren't necessarily more valid than those of people who aren't judges; what matters is we can quote the rules to back up our answers. When in doubt, ask for such quotes.
flames is deffinitly the best choice avaliable to you for life gain prevention. stigma lasher is taking up a 2 drop spot, and he has to hit. by that time the finks may allready be down. And as far as everlasting torment, the deck is called THRILLING zoo, meaning he is hoping his thrills can get him that extra distance against burn. with everlasting tourment out, burn makes his creature tiny with -1/-1 counters. it's clunky but flames is the best you can ask for right now.
btw, super ding grats on reaching prestige class father :>
I make no claim to being a decent, much less competitive magic player, so this may be a very dumb question, but why tarfire over burst lightning? Even if it's unlikely you will ever kick it, the fact that you could kick burst lightning seems more relevant than the goblin tribe type.
Edit: reading is tech. Never mind, it's the goyf interaction that's at issue.
But I have a question about the article. Why is it about burn when he's showing us a zoo deck with a couple burn spells in it. Your deck is Naya Zoo, hence the zoo creatures. Burn has burn spells and creatures like Hellspark Elemental and Keldon Mauraders in it.
It was a great article. Sometime they can be too long but this one was great. The added pictures of the cards helped with it. Especially when I saw Hypergenesis.
Great article. I don't really play extended as I only just started playing back for M10, but it really gives a good breakdown over why you decided on the deck.

I'm talkin bout everlasting torment. I know that vortex puts them on the clock.
