This thread is for the discussion of my latest article, MTGCast #133: MTGO Layoffs and Evil Presents!. We would be grateful if you would let us know what you think, but please keep your comments on topic.
Basically went for an all out token deck so that you could just all out attack with everything without fearing a bunch of blocks to kill all of your creatures. Just a quick thrown together list.
Extended-legal, but mainly just for casual gamers, despite the expensive lands. The idea is simple. Combine Dolmen Gate with creatures that must be blocked, while your normally not-so-powerful creatures win you the game. Lock them out of a combat phase with Blinding Angel, and poison them to death with Virulent Sliver. The singleton Raven Guild Master is just there for laughs, as you decimate your fellow casual player's library with a 1/1.
Quietus Spike and wound reflection seems fun, dolmen gate mainly for the saprazzan heir. you rope a dope with it being blocked enough to get out what you need. then rogue beatdown for some fun ^^

Re: Ape tribal deck... how can you not mention Kird Ape?! Particularly when you explicitly talk about 1-drops!
Re: Voice chat on MtGO - not such a good idea. Most opponents won't have headsets and not everyone speaks the same language. Incidentally, I've had some very good text chats with people on MtGO. The only advantage of chat would be to play and chat at the same time, but even then you can get your chat in whilst your opponent has priority most of the time.

I remember running Doleman's Gate in mono black Rogues and it was amazing in the mirror match because they basically couldn't block. Only good if you're ahead in the game, but still a back breaking artifact. My idea this week to make a "You die-I don't" Doleman's Gate deck...
The deck name has two meanings since Doleman's Gate makes our team not die, but deathtouch usually ensures that if they block, they die... also, they're zombies... so come on, Zombies DON'T DIE!
I also had Nantuko Husk in the deck, but cut him last.
On your comment about stasis decks, I managed to beat a stasis deck with a Brass Man. So it isn't like there is no hope. I imagine that the stasis player was surprized to see that card in the tournament.
I was running Brass Man since I had a mono black deck and needed secret tech against Whirling Dervish.
The Wackoff campagin sounded like Otwell to me... (what can i say i've got great ears and can read voices
Great show as always, still listening as of yet, and Wild Nacatl, will Soon be something everyone is Crying to get, once 11th Comes out people will be tearing open other peoples throats to get it, because it's effectively another Kird Ape. However. 1 point of power stronger.

drop some nasty threats that come with drawbacks that don't matter because their creatures can't attack into your caltrops and minefields. the repercussion idea is great (thanks!) because even attacking with the goblins gets damage through.
All I have to say is that I'm PPUUUMMMPPPPPEEEEEEEEDDDD with a capital 'pumped' for worlds. Even though I won't be participating in the event, I'm excited to be able to be a part of the festivities.

This is probably the worst signature in the history of signatures.
Love your show, started listening about two months ago to your network, and keep up the great work! Heres a decklist based on Dolmen gate.
It is standard legal deck (I've been into magic since Ravnica, so i dont know many old cards) based on the synergy of Nath's elite, Witherscale wurm and lure with dolmen gate, which basically locks down a creature based deck quickly with Lure and Nath's elite and finishes off with garruk's overrun, burn, or just exhausting their creature supply. Quite a budget deck (cept for lands).
That's my Dolmen Gate deck. It's a sort of red/black suicide deck, with the gate to try to stop the disadvantages of your jackal pups/negators/jagged poppets. I don't think it will be that amazing, but it will be a bit of a throwback to days of dark ritual and lightning bolt.

this is the best deck i think i'll even netdeck it for my next multiplayer game, if those old rares aren't too expensive!

I imagine Maro has a huge ancient book in his office titled "Tempo Defined" and inside it is hollowed out and there is a bottle of whiskey
Re: Ape tribal deck... how can you not mention Kird Ape?! Particularly when you explicitly talk about 1-drops!
i was also surprised about this. kird ape is like ol' faithful of the ape-tribal...
anyway, real comment: i've played with people with egos. it's actually REALLY obnoxious to play with these people. maybe it's just me but i ALWAYS say "good game." even if i just got blown out. it's called good sportsmanship. and far toooooo many players lack this. i get comments like "not really. just got mana screwed." or <eyes rolling> "i guess. you steamrolled me." wtf? what's the big deal? it's not like you have to loose a left-testie because i just won.
i think the best way to handle jerks is to just kick their butt. also smoother them with happiness and kindness. (they typically come around).

thanks, i think the mana base actually needs some work, i was in the mind frame of 'standard' when i was figuring out the lands, i don't have much experience with anything between ice age pain lands and shadowmoor filters (12 year lapse). city of brass maybe, though, diamond mine... i don't know.
