This thread is for the discussion of my latest article, Then and Now: Portal and Ravnica in Vintage. We would be grateful if you would let us know what you think, but please keep your comments on topic.
And the correst answer is... Control of the Court. There you go. Also, very good article, I really enjoyed it despite rarely playing vintage. Good job.
Yeh, thats the one...I hadnt really considered mentioning it, In the decks ive tried out goblin lore in you generally only run 2 or 3 and you dont have to really worry about running different named cards (meddling mage is going to be really hard pressed to name it, heh) I hadnt really considered its use in a gifts type build, generally gifts decks rely on for sure having certain combinations of cards, getting something randomly discarded can be really bad for gifts...
My main reasoning for Goblin Lore is that in a deck that has a resolved Goblin Welder on the table, playing lore is often VERY good...the trick of course is to know when a conditional Lore is an appropriate play.
Tainted Pact usage is an interesting idea, but im not sure what kind of deck you are going to run though that uses pact AND lore...it would certainly be exciting, but im not sure how stable it would be (heh, lets through spoils of the vault and demonic consultation in there too...hah! PWND)
Well, it doesn't really matter which one you use, but it might be nice to know the name of both just in case something comes up. The more you know the better, just in case. I can;t really think of any scenarios, but who knows.
Heh, I run Goblin Lore because it is infinitly easier to find and cheaper, heh...I suppose you would need the P3K version to pimp out the deck though..
But you are correct...
