Congrats on the new thread!
And ya'll don't need to Gatecrash, we put you on the VIP list. You cats don't even have to stand in line, or buy alcohol. We got you;)
I had thought I was on the friends list already, but seem to be mistaken. I'd like to be added, if the clan permits.
@Samoht, what did you come in second with at the mtgs legacy tournament #7?

@GoC, haha! Thanks. I thought to myself, "while stan smith is actually a cartoonish exageration of myself, how could I get him to be more of a representation of myself?" Apparently shaving his head, (even though I do have hair now), and throwing a Star Trek uniform on him would do the trick, and it did, lol.
Been playing much magic or guitar lately?
mikey k, Draconic Phantom, cheersforsneers and I are waiting for our FNM to fire as I type.
Guitar not so much. I work a lot, so I am flat beat when I get home. I'd like to get in again soon, though what I really need is to set up a computer workstation with the tools I need. It's sort of a side quest of mine.

Anyway, congrats to Draconic for kicking ass at FNM last night with his swing-for-18-on-turn-4 Goblin deck. (No, I didn't lose to it, not at all! ) I went 2-1-1, once again getting my two wins against the father-and-son team.
Hey, guys, really... Check out your profiles (if you have one) in the first post. Want an update? PM me a new version. Want to have one at all? PM it. Think I should do away with them? Tell me. I'm noncommittal on the whole thing, to be honest... So I'm putting it to you.

Hello NYC Dark Knights! I'm a bit late stopping in, but I thought as co-founder of the Kitchen Table Finks, I'd drop in and say hello.
I'm also a fellow New Yorker. I grew up in Wantagh (the "Gateway to Jones Beach"!), did my undergraduate work at Fordham in the Bronx, lived and worked in Brooklyn, got my Master's Degree at CUNY Brooklyn College, lived in Astoria for a few years, then moved up to Putnam County to raise a family. I love this state for so many reasons!
If you don't mind, I'd like to be added to your friends list.
Ah. I had to miss this game day due to a family event, sadly. Right now, I'm playing Br Zombies with Phyrexian Obliterator as my four-drop of choice. I plan to keep playing the Blitz version until people stop misreading it in my favor.
What did you bring to Game Day and how did you do?
Chester, I'll be sure to add you to the friends list when I'm back home. Did you play Magic at all while you were still in the area?
I brought rg aggro. I've been playing wu delver, but decided to switch it up with fair results. 3-1, loosing to, (go figure), wu delver in the third round. We did pack wars as well, but I only won 2 games before being beaten. I won a tee shirt, so that's always cool.

I find sometimes that switching decks works... just not enough for me to say it's statistically significant to do so or not. I'd have brought both decks and scouted out the meta before game 1.
@GoC, I know the meta through and through, but over extended myself then lost to day in the third game of the match. Still, I hadn't playtested rg aggro much, and still should have known not to play my hand out by turn three against delver. I got fourth or something, so it wasn't 100% wash, you know? The reason why I switched it up is that I'm just bored playing delver at local events. I will be playing it next weekend, for sure.
hello gentlemen, good to be back.
looking forward to ravnica and the cycle? i know i am. i would love to be able to play mono-red again
@Digi i must say, out of all the selectable font colors you could have chosen there, that one is by far the most annoying. my background is black and i have to highlight your text constantly to read it, so i just stopped. You dont have to change it or anything, im just letting you know. =D

@GOC:@Chester: Welcome and do you play anywhere at all if I may ask?
Yes. I play at my kitchen table!
Seriously, I have a small play group. There are three of us who play every so often, and I just really play when I can. I live in Putnam, one guy lives in Westchester, and the other lives in Nassau. Ergo, we splay sporadically.

I can understand that. I've switched for similar reasons. Live and learn, no doubt.
I have to concur with Fetts, though, about your font color. It's horrifically unreadable with the black background, and worse on my iPad because the highlighting doesn't invert the color. Again, not saying you have to change it... But I gotta be honest, I just added your post in and figured I'd read it when I started commenting. I'm not sure how many other guys in here use the black background, so whatever is whatever.

Yeah, and I bet we'll get a nice red hoser anyway. Making all your dudes indestructible at instant speed eliminates a lot of red mass damage, so we may already have the screw on mono-red set for post-rotation.

No doubt. Did you just always play with your group, or did you play out at places - particularly before you moved out to Putnam?

No doubt. Did you just always play with your group, or did you play out at places - particularly before you moved out to Putnam?
I started back when I was in middle / high school in the 90's, and played at a place called Powerhouse Comics in Seaford. I slowed down a bit because I just didn't have the resources to keep up. I got back into it with my current play group some time later, after years of playing crummy decks. My decks are still pretty crummy, but a bit more, shall we say, refined.
I have a local store that does FNM, but I'm a bit shy about going. Frankly, I'm in my 30's now, and I don't want to be the only "old guy" amidst a group of teenagers (no offense to any youths on here-just saying that I wouldn't feel right).
So, in a nutshell, just my playgroup. I started coming here to use the Rulings forum whenever specific issues came up during a game. Then I hit the casual forums getting feedback for decks. After participating in a few GMADs in casual, the next thing I know I'm founding a clan.
A hardcore player? By no means. A fan of the game? You betcha.
I don't know if I'd worry so much about being the "old guy" - I turn 39 this month, though I will say that the FNM scene here is largely a little older, with a lot of 20-somethings around. I find myself being a mentor to the younger guys who show up. (The fact that I'm a teacher may add to my willingness to do that. ) A number of our regular members in the clan are now in their early 30's, and most of the rest of us are either close or over. I think mikey and cheersforsneers are the only guys in the clan under 25.

@GoC and Digi - thanks for the congratulatory words. As it happens, Goblins are quite mortal at times. After my 3-0-1 at FNM, I went 1-3 at Games Day, losing to MBC, U/B control, and Naya Pod. It was demoralizing, but such is life.
I'll send a bio to you sometime tonight or tomorrow, GoC.
