@Samoht - I havnt playtested vs combo just yet w/ my u/w build.....but I'm putting 4x purges in the board , it's also good vs mono red and vamps, seems like a perfect utility card, also in my u/w build i have 3x spellskites MD and titan to bring them back so I think my match vs them isnt horrendous.
um, morons play twin still. UW has a nearly impossibly difficult matchup vs twin.

ok here's the list. a number of you suggested changes to me, but i wasn't writing them down, so you may want to suggest them again. also, i have no board yet.
I might cut the tome scour and go mono B. You could then tighten the mana and add tectonic edge. Solemn Simulacrum would be a good source of ramp/card advantage. Trim some of the 1cc discard and add mind sludge .
mill loses to eldrazi and elixir of immortality. haunting echoes loses to neither of those. discard and extraction help in that plan as well.
mikey: good point on the cancels, they are played around. most of my sorceries are the cheapie discards and the probe, so keeping extra mana open shouldn't be hard.
my two biggest concerns?
1. will i survive weenie rushes (well, are they relevant?) long enough to get an effective echoes?
2. am i running the correct combination of discard, and the correct combination of kill? i think i am - it seems to curve ok - but can it at least be a fighter?

That deck looks like a MD full of SB cards. If it were me, I'd scrap the u/b idea entirely, if your playing u/b you should just play the control version....or vamps...honestly GoC u had alot of sucess with vamps and its still a really good deck obv....t2 in recent starcity. I feel like you'll be setup for a world of hurt playing this deck....
@ GoC ..... hedron crab over tome scour and put sack lands in.
@ Samoht .... uh yeah for the record 4x overgrown battlements in both t16 kut decks (latest starcity)....I played the deck for months....you dont play that deck without it (good versions of the deck)....I'm just sayin....
also ignus recommends consuming vapors for the deck....I forgot that card was in standard lol

That was with about 10 minutes of looking through the SCG database. It was definitely viable to run no battlements for periods of time, even with Zenith's. Mascioli q'd up for Nagoya w/o any Battlements.

he lost at Nagoya which was Block. But he qualified on RG Titan Ramp w/o battlements.
Your list would do well with a Venser I think, possibly 2. No more than that.
Edit: Also SCG lists are important. Gerry T and other people aren't the only magic players with ideas out there, and top 8'ing any tournament with over 100 people is an achievement. Add in the fact that it was a deck list database, not the SCG 5k results I searched, which includes GP's PTQ's and other events, and your pot shot at SCG fails utterly. Try again.

Alright so here is the new list I was thinking of.
Tectonic edge is kind of.. Optional, but I think its good. Like I said... Remove your 2 guys and 1 batterskull for 3 black sun zenith. I added jace beleren and switched in inquisiton.
yeah, this part was all stuff we discussed. i'm pretty satisfied with the changes at least to use as a start-off point. i'd like to get some playtesting in, either tomorrow night, thursday, or friday before FNM.
The sideboard is pretty simple, disfigure for aggro, flashfreeze for red and green decks, duress for control and valakut, wurmcoil is for aggro as another win condition... Might need 3. Into the roil and dismember are for twin, but are flexible.
i'm fine with this as is as well; the transformational idea was cute, but i wasn't feeling it with the meta what it is. i'm going to keep notes on what i do with the deck and we'll discuss over the coming weeks.
That deck looks like a MD full of SB cards. If it were me, I'd scrap the u/b idea entirely, if your playing u/b you should just play the control version....or vamps...
this deck is my statement to a world without JTMS. it's not meant to be anything more or less, and, if this fails, i'm back to not attending FNM until innistrad.
honestly GoC u had alot of sucess with vamps and its still a really good deck obv....t2 in recent starcity. I feel like you'll be setup for a world of hurt playing this deck....
two things about this:
1) vamps is a great deck, don't get me wrong. but it's freaking boring as hell, man. there is only one card that creates any sort of interesting play decisions in the deck, and that's kalastria highborn.
2) this is a deck i built and designed, so the only world of hurt is if i never fire off... i doubt that will happen. it's nostalgic for me (as i've mentioned before), and it's my personal middle finger for the loss of JTMS. so just playing it is going to be satisfying... and going off will be awesome.
At mark's, trust me, that deck can take top 2 every week... Remember its marks!
yeah, this, too. (EDIT - @ DMX) for someone who constantly downplays the level of competition at mark's, suddenly you're giving the meta a lot of credit.
@ GoC ..... hedron crab over tome scour and put sack lands in.
why? tome scour is likely to hit for more cards both early game and (mostly) late game. it's a chump blocker at best, but it doesn't even put the opponent's guy in the yard, so it doesn't advance my final goal. if i was going to ditch tome scour, it would be replaced with more discard or more kill.
also ignus recommends consuming vapors for the deck....I forgot that card was in standard lol
for my deck? i think i'd rather play consume the meek instead.
Ah but wasn't the ptq season extended though? Which was a different format? In extended I will admit that battlement is kinda janky... I still think battlement is fine in std because if they are go for the throating it or countering it, that means less for my titan to be worried about...
As far as the second comment is concerned... 1.. I didnt know it just scg results so my bad I just assumed they were...
Idk, he q'd on a MODO PTQ, and i dont know what the format was. I know what he borrowed from me for a standard tourney, and it was a sick RG Ramp deck w/ 7 titans and 0 battlements. also - this won jap nats w/o any battlements http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=39674. if they punt a leak on battlements to get trapped they are terrible.
thanks for understanding re standings on the SCG database.

yes. sacrifice only concerns the lack of regeneration effects or indestructibility from preventing its demise. also, obviously it's controller also gets a choice.

@ Samoht .... uh yeah for the record 4x overgrown battlements in both t16 kut decks (latest starcity)....I played the deck for months....you dont play that deck without it (good versions of the deck)....I'm just sayin....
also ignus recommends consuming vapors for the deck....I forgot that card was in standard lol
lol, and this arguement was all started because i said twisted image in my board was good vs kut

That was with about 10 minutes of looking through the SCG database. It was definitely viable to run no battlements for periods of time, even with Zenith's. Mascioli q'd up for Nagoya w/o any Battlements.

Try again.

i'm fine with this as is as well; the transformational idea was cute, but i wasn't feeling it with the meta what it is. i'm going to keep notes on what i do with the deck and we'll discuss over the coming weeks.
this deck is my statement to a world without JTMS. it's not meant to be anything more or less, and, if this fails, i'm back to not attending FNM until innistrad.
two things about this:
1) vamps is a great deck, don't get me wrong. but it's freaking boring as hell, man. there is only one card that creates any sort of interesting play decisions in the deck, and that's kalastria highborn.
2) this is a deck i built and designed, so the only world of hurt is if i never fire off... i doubt that will happen. it's nostalgic for me (as i've mentioned before), and it's my personal middle finger for the loss of JTMS. so just playing it is going to be satisfying... and going off will be awesome.
yeah, this, too. (EDIT - @ DMX) for someone who constantly downplays the level of competition at mark's, suddenly you're giving the meta a lot of credit.
why? tome scour is likely to hit for more cards both early game and (mostly) late game. it's a chump blocker at best, but it doesn't even put the opponent's guy in the yard, so it doesn't advance my final goal. if i was going to ditch tome scour, it would be replaced with more discard or more kill.
for my deck? i think i'd rather play consume the meek instead.
The MirroCube - 420 card Mirrodin themed cube
And if I've offended you, I'm sorry, but maybe you need to be offended. But here's my apology and one more thing...
