So, it was time for a new thread. The last one run for almost two years.
I admit I did not put much thought into the name - it just symbolises that even though being twice threatened by closure, we managed to survive. The fact that it is a Mirran motto is coincidental (apology to all with an inner Phyrexian inside).
I put Shady and Hydro to the MIA list, and added lightbulb to the roster, where he was mysteriously absent.
With Vax as representative at the Council, I will, with your permission, act as a deputy leader in Shady's absence (just for cases like the closure notification).
So, even with the most veteran members being busy, even with us all being busy in real life as well, I hope that we will all find time to come here, talk and post, and we do not let this very ancient clan to become a memory.
Won't lie, I'm still a bit amused that I am without title to this day.
So, my cursor is randomly dropping letters wherever it is resting while I type. I think it's a problem with the pointer drives, but I'm far far too lazy to try and correct it.
So chances are, I'm just going to restart my computer to see if it settles that.
Work as usual on the schedule. The horrendous dreck that is Gnomeo and Juliet on the playbill. Aside from that, I've missed most of the times I usually hang with my best bro for the past two weeks and it's killing me.
Need social stimulation!
Been trying to find some sort of relationship. This has been killing me lately. I thought I had a couple of great conversations started on a couple of dating sites. Woman A was a flake and didn't message me a lot, find out she's taken, fine whatever. Woman B on another site I was talking with a lot. Kinda cute too. I probably made a mistake when I invited her to a comedy show this weekend. Wants to keep talking on the site. I reply "sure. sorry if I came off as a little hasty" etc etc etc. That was last night. This morning I find her account was deleted.:o:mad:
I don't know what to do. I don't wanna come off as desperate, but the truth is, I am. I don't wanna graduate college without having a relationship. Graduating high school without one was bad enough.

Vax, I know a couple of examples who found the right person even later. Like my long-time uni colleague, who met his current wife and mother of his three great children when he was 35, after his previous 8-year relationship ended in disaster. So don't let yourself be stressed by that.
Got my three boxes of Besieged this afternoon and already done the unpacking with Lenka Some nice pulls there. From the very first pack Lenka took from the first box, she pulled out Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. Later, we found another one, and in addition, two Blightsteel Colossi, playsets of Inkmoth Nexus and Contested War Zone (and half the rares in the set), three Hero of Bladeholds...I am still missing Thrun and Hero of Oxid Ridge, but with all the other cards, I think it will be no problem to trade for them.
Endure we shall! Thanks for posting the new thread, Caranthir. You got my vote of confidence for deputy.
Heh, thanks, bro. And call me Honza
Talking about being busy. What are you guys up to this weekend? I will have to go to Bielefeld over the weekend and for the rest of the upcoming week for specialist training. See how that goes... Usually I´ll make friends with a colleague who is just as bored as me.
A friend of ours has invited us to a semi-private wine-tasting event, so tomorrow around noon, we leave for a wine cellar close to Brno, estimated return after some ten hours and lots of samples :). And on Sunday, we will devote the time to recharging after that....
Today, I got my bonus money for last year from my employer, so I decided to reward myself for a finished project...so I increased the number of my whisky collection by one - and a very fine one. Ardbeg Uigeadail. And it's friggin' amazing. Yeah, I will not hide that I became quite a Scotch whisky enthusiast....
What do you say about the Urabrask the Hidden wallpaper from Action? They again managed to draw my attention to even ANOTHER set...
'kay, time to shower and sleep, I am quite tired. Take care, amigos!

@lightbulb: I have a friend who did this kind of experience (sorry, I decided to give my ex one more....and one more....chance) twice in last two years. With the difference that he did not "quite fancy" her/them, but been almost crazy into her/them. Everytime I ended up pulling him by the collar from a proverbial cesspool of self-loathing and self-pity. So I guess that the fact that you managed to get through it by yourself is good.

Personally, I am more a Bourbon kind of guy.
To each his own. I just do not like the bourbon taste. Probably the corn.
Okay, enough with the soul striptease - I had way to much whiskey tonight...:D
Never a bad thing. I am going to prove the same with wine today:)
take care,

We got some hang out time after I got off work yesterday.
Having said that, our scheduled hang out times are pretty much the only time we can actually get together.
Sometimes I amaze myself. With my unwillingness to try anyway. So, backstory here is that with my wimens troubles I had asked one of my wimen friends to hook me up. She's the first of my many friends to get married that put me into my funk. Anyway, she says most of her friends are also married, but to check out this "anti-Valentine" dance thing. I'm skeptical, but after my story above I thought what the hell. Can't get much worse, right? So I plunk the down the $15 and go. And I meet a cute woman there and we had a blast. Spent damn near 3 hours with her, dancing and talking and making out and everything. Even got her number. This is when it pays to have friends who are actually getting PAID to be stand-up comedians (I never got paid). Now, to give you an idea of the magnitude of what I may think of her: she's a semi-fan of Dane Cook. I don't know if I made this clear with earlier posts, but he's #1 on my list of people I wanna throw into a fire. I loathe him with every fiber of my being, and I didn't care that she likes some of his jokes.:o:o:o
I really need to keep telling myself that I need to try harder.

I don´t really like the state of the Storyline Forum. At this point we´re really just scrabbling about the bits and pieces of information we every once in a while get from WotC regarding the story or just speculation. I believe back when we had more books the discussions were just a little more substanced, because we had much more to go on in the canon. Now noone really knows anything, because there hasn´t been anything published so we just argue on a tangent - whtever is most coherent with the bits and pieces of information we do have.
Took these words just from the tip of my tongue. But well, what can we do? With almost nothing to work with, with just two books a year since the Curse of Chain Veil was cancelled...
I don´t know - maybe I am sounding like a broken record - but I really which WotC would reconsider its publishing schedule and just give us more books or other Storyline content (i.e. comics, Planeswalker´s Guides, etc.)
Yeah. But I think that this is beyond our capability to change - unless they decide to change it.

Well, we have Quest for Karn (and a huge storm of egotism of "I told you so" and "I speculated right!") coming out in April, then Path II in May, with, in theory, a new comic in it. I'm hoping they actually release a fall book this time around. Lord only knows what it would be, but cancelling Chain Veil was a HUGE setback.
To be honest, I didn't have much hope for it to begin with. Vornholt's work wasn't exactly up to even magic standards from what I read.
I hate the fact that they wasted one of the new art slots on Teferi. His original art was better. At the very least, it showed him better instead of having him crouched down...
I honestly half expect them to shove Gerrard in, maybe Blind Seer. Neither of which I'd like to see. Easiest way to predict things would be to see what is on the "no reprint/banned" list.
I honestly half expect them to shove Gerrard in, maybe Blind Seer. Neither of which I'd like to see. Easiest way to predict things would be to see what is on the "no reprint/banned" list.
THAT would be a waste of slot
Frankly, I would like to see Sisay and Hanna. Or, when it is cleared whether there would be really only creatures or also other legendary permanents, I would like to see the 80$ alternate art Skyship Weatherlight there.
Wouldn't it though? Unfortunately, Gerrard was their poster boy. Blech...
Really though, we only have rights to speculate about 14, because one of these slots is going to be a new legend, and truthfully I don't know what to fell about that...
Probably better than if they printed a green walker in Action. GODS I just want... I just want wizards to not print a cycle so every little bastard out there will shut up about how they're going to finish walker cycles. I'm quite wound up about that topic... it ticks me off, a LOT.
They say "legendary creatures". It's explicitly stated in the Announcement Arcana.
Thought so (or more precisely, vaguely remembered), but was lazy to check the Arcana when posting.

At least the "OMG YAWGMOTH/GIX RETURNS FOR SURE!" threads have slowly faded into oblivion. But yeah, I hope as well that there's no green walker in Action for the same reason. I am gradually becoming less tolerant to the RM posters to the point that I scarcely interact there besides moderation, and I start to understand why seds used to sound harsh sometimes when he was modding the RM. Dunno, probably a by-product of me getting older.

So it's official. I'm officially in show business. And by that I mean that I've gotten royally screwed over big for the first time.
A bit of background: I'm sure that I told you all that I was promised the position of Production Manager for an upcoming play at a theatre that I've worked at a lot recently. I was promised this position way back in August of last year. The e-mail I got, AND I QUOTE, said, "Soooooo...if you're interested, the job will be yours."
Fast forward to last month, and the director sends me an e-mail stating that he decided to replace me with another person. The e-mail to me sounds quite condescending, trying to come off as nice and "playing to my strengths" instead of living up to a promise made to me.
We had our first production meeting tonight, and I really felt like I was an extra. I felt like I was on the crew just because the director just couldn't bring himself to take me off the crew entirely, so he decided to stick me in some crap job that, to me, felt tacked on. To be specific, the guy already has an assistant director, TWO STAGE MANAGERS, and a production manager (the job he PROMISED me), in addition to myself. I'm a ☺☺☺☺ing glorified stagehand. I haven't worked my ass off for the last two years to be a damn stagehand, unless it's for the Denver Center or Carnegie Hall or some ☺☺☺☺. I've worked too hard to be at the bottom of the totem pole at some piece of ☺☺☺☺ community theatre that pays peanuts.
This kind of crap is what beer was invented to cure. Glorious beer!

Sounds awful. I´m sorry for you. Any chances of getting a gig somewhere else?
It may sound like simplifying it, but if you don´t like the working environment/condition, you can always leave the place, can´t you?
Yeah, I could. I've already been trying to find gigs elsewhere, but it's pretty slow going, since most places already have stage managers in mind when they start a show. Also, I haven't really been employed anywhere else, so not many people know me and can say that I do a better job than most jokers in this city. It all seems very narcissitic. I'll keep trying elsewhere. Hell, I might even work at this particular theatre again. However, I don't see myself working with this director in the future.
Loving the new Vorinclex art, and his little quote. Really drives home a green villain's perspective. The first mono-green villain in Magic ever, as far as I can recall.
I suppose I'll just repost my thoughts on Vorinclex's art here:
Honestly... not a huge fan of the art. Love the design, don't get me wrong, but the brushwork doesn't do anything for me here. The colors are too neutral too. It doesn't leap out at me the same way that Urabrask did, because he just looked freaking AWESOME. I hope the art for the rest is a little better than this one.
It's good... but it could have been great.
(The forearms bother me too. I like what they were going for, but the execution was... just kind of silly.)
I want to stress, I like the design. Particularly the fur mantle, but the piece just falls flat.
New Phyrexians run the gamut from very metallic, to a combination of metal and flesh, to entirely fleshy. And many of those that do have metallic parts still look more organic than the old Phyrexian aesthetic. All of that makes sense for a couple reasons. One, different blocs have different views on the role of artifice in Phyrexia (Vorinclex doesn't look/sound like he cares about it much, but Urabrask is clearly heavily involved in artifacts and metallic forms). Two, the New Phyrexians are descended from Mirrans, and the very organic-looking Mirran style of artifice affects that of the Phyrexians they've become. Yawgmoth's Phyrexia had a different starting point, and different guidance along their path of development. The new ones have a new starting point and new influences, as well as competing paths of development.
I know, I just can't see the Phyrexian in him. In fact, I could easily see him being a villain in Muraganda block. I acknowledge he's not the only neophyrexian who doesn't seem Phyrexian to me though...
Blue Phyrexians definitely seem to be the closest to the "classic" Phyrexian look. They tend to have the most mechanical-looking bits, as well as exposed pipes and joints and vials and whatnot. Some black ones, like Phyrexian Vatmother, lean that way also.
What's interesting is that there are some green Phyrexians that do have machine parts, like Rot Wolf and Putrefax, while others do not, like Cystbearer and Blight Mamba. I wonder if Vorinclex is in charge of all modifications to green-aligned Phyrexians, or if different branches share those sorts of duties to some extent.
Had an awesome party yesterday - at the very moment people are still recovering from it (except for me, somehow I got lucky. No hangover whatsoever )
Fortunate bastard. I wish I could go partying and forgo the hangover part.:p
I'm a lucky man as well. I've worked out my work problems and now have TWO jobs waiting for me. The job I was mad about? I'm the chief fight choreographer for it, plus I'm working the promotion for the thing. The second is the full-blown stage manager position I was looking for. Still fuzzy about the minute details, but from the sounds of it I might be able to hire some people on my own. I'm going to make the schedules, I'm going to get everyone together, and I'm going to be both fight choreographer and the head of everything relating to the technical aspect of the show.
Oh, and there's going to be nudity.:p I probably won't notice it with how busy I'll inevitably be.
So after quite a rocky start to 2011 everything is looking up roses.:D

They still are Phyrexian creations even if they don't have metal parts (on the outside, at least). They reshape flesh and bone, too. The creatures were designed and formed by Phyrexians, and have oil running through their bodies.
Maybe this reality is actually an alternate reality of a reality in which New Phyrexia was the joke expansion and Mirrodin Pure was the obvious expansion, except our reality is the Time Shifted reality which is opposite of that other reality which is that actual reality.
