Huge thanks to SB4 and High~Light Studios for providing us with this awesome banner!
We are a clan consisting entirely of cube fans, cubers, and cubists. All of us maintain (or at least help to maintain) a cube and for many of us, it's the only Magic format we play. We're here to talk about the cube and whatever else we feel the need to discuss. If you would like to join our little clan, feel free to post here and ask to join, but this clan is not for everyone. You must have a cube list thread in the cube forums, and you must be a frequent poster in those forums. With that said, anyone who meets that criteria is welcome!
Got my box of M10 today, ready for integration into the Cube. Maybe the best box I've opened!
Pulled Baneslayer Angel, Darksteel Colossus, Time Warp and Vampire Nocturnus as my mythics. Good rares including 2x Ball Lightning (pair of balls!), Elvish Archdruid, Glacial Fortress, Dragonskull Summit (foil), Drowned Catacomb, 2x Twincast, Elvish Piper (foil), Birds of Paradise, Siege-Gang Commander, Cemetery Reaper, Ant Queen, Gargoyle Castle, Pithing Needle, Honor of the Pure and Great Sable Stag.
This set is the nuts for money rares. I'm tempted to buy another box to fill in the gaps rather than single hunt on eBay.
I'll update my Cube list later with my new additions and some old favourites like Dismiss...
Also, I'm getting some clear sticky backed printable vinyl to make proxies. I have gorgeous MSE renders already, so I'll keep y'all updated on that front if I have any luck.
Not a problem, my friend. I used to post a lot on MTGNews waaay back in like 00-02, and my clan on there was one of the best parts of posting there.
Congrats on the sweet box of M10. This is the first core set where I've actually wanted to crack a box since I first got into playing magic back in 98 with 5th edition.
I know it's the weekend, so I don't expect to get too many posts here, but how do you guys feel about doing an "About Me" post? Kind of a get to know each other exercise, I guess. Just some basic info... first name, where you're from, how long have you been playing, some likes dislikes... that sort of thing.
@BK: I don't know that it's warranted, but what do you think about adding a link to this thread in one of the sticky's over in the cube forum?
I'll start with the "About Me" thing, whether you guys wanna do that or not. You'll at least know a bit about me.
My name is Brandon. Calibretto is a character from a comic called Battle Chasers. Yes, not only am I a big magic geek, but I also collect comics. It's amazing I ever got laid at all. I live in Tennessee near Knoxville and the University of Tenn. I'm 26 (27 in Sept) and I've been playing Magic since 98. I have an associate's degree in information technology and I work for a local community bank in the I.T. department. Just call me the resident "I.T. Support Specialist". Besides Magic, comics, and computers, I also love movies and music. More specifically I love gangster flicks (The Godfather, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, The Departed) and comedys (Old School, Wedding Crashers). I'm also a big metal head, but really I like a huge variety of music. Everything from Slipknot to Jay-Z to Green Day to Johnny Cash. I started playing the cube because it was super cheap to just throw a bunch of good commons and uncommons together and draft them. One tweak led to another tweak and now we have the current cube list. That's pretty much it about me. I'm sure there's something I'm leaving out, but I'm an open book.
I look forward to getting to know you guys a bit better and enjoying ourselves in this, the best clan ever.
A bit more about me: I'm Liam, 22, studying for a PhD in the UK. I was lucky enough to live and study in Bordeaux for a year and so can speak French. My speciality is somewhere between geochemistry, oceanography and (lately) polymer thermodynamics. My main hobbies are hiking in the English countryside with my girlfriend (and family when I see them) and music. I mainly listen to metal (everything from Gojira to Isis to Wolves in the Throne Room... but none of that hardcore crap), Reggae (everything from Bob and Damien Marley to Capleton or Sizzla), Dub (Hightone!), classic rock (Motorhead to Whitesnake to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Jazz (Esbjorn Svensson Trio to Sayag Jazz Machine or Ray Charles), proper Punk (Amen, Gallows, The Clash), Prog rock (the almighty Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Rush) and a little rap (Eminem, Cypress Hill, some of the old-school French stuff like NTM) and country (Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton). Pretty much anything that isn't pop, although you can hear the odd good pop tune on the radio.
I also read occasionally. My reading interests are good fantasy (Song of Fire and Ice by George Martin being my favourite - read it if you haven't done so). I also have had to read a lot of microbiology stuff recently for work related reasons... not quite as gripping!
I've played MTG on and off for 12-13 years. I can't remember the first time I played and during what expansion, but I remember having plenty of Portal cards and playing casual Saga decks at school. I use to attend a lot of Pre-re's and place highly, but I haven't attended an event since Coldsnap Pre-re where I was put off by a guy who was being a jackass. I mainly play with my girlfriend casually, and when I have the time I'll get some more people together for a proper Cube drafting group...
Well nice to "meet" you, Liam. Congrats on working toward that PhD! That's awesome, man. I'd like to go back to work toward at least getting my Bachelors Degree, but school is so overpriced here in the states. Plus I'd have to work around my work schedule. That's probably more of an excuse than anything, though. Change and I don't get along very well at all.
Thanks man! Nice to know more about you, hopefully some of the others will add a little about themselves. I've heard about study being expensive in the US, it's pretty pricy here too. University left me with a huge amount of debt that I have to pay off when I start 'earning' for real. It's a big problem for a lot of people here. If I complete my PhD and get a good job I have all that to pay back first... then I can start to pimp out my Cube (and maybe even buy a house).
On a MTG related note, I pre-ordered a four-box of Planechase this week, I'm excited about the implications of that for Cube gaming. I expect each plane to have powerful static effects and they could be quite fun if people are happy to add another luck element to the gameplay.
I actually pay my last student loan payment next month which is quite exciting for me. Unfortunately, my truck is giving me problems, so I'm going to have to get that fixed which will go on my credit card which will just be another bill I have to pay. It's like a never ending cycle of bills!
I'm pretty psyched for Planechase as well. I'm actually quite surprised that more info on it and FTV: Exiled hasn't been released or leaked yet. We've got next to nothing on both of those sets. I'm especially anxious to find out what's in FTV: Exiled, or should I say FTV: Cube?
Of course I did. Opeth wasn't it? BTR is one of the classics too, first metal album I owned.
Good man, I'll be seeing PT live later this year. I love my prog rock.
And yep, FTV:Exiled should be awesome. I paid over the odds for my pre-order copy but hey, it might be the only FTV I purchase and there could be some really busted stuff in it. Balance and Berzerk are already likely and the new Avon and Guay art is a huge incentive for me too.
Yep, it was the Opeth logo. I forget which my first was, I think it was Metallica's self-titled (which, when I listened to it lately, bored the hell out of me.) I've been pretty bad about keeping up with metal releases lately, I did absolutely love the new Dream Theater though.
I think that Berserk should definitely be worth the price of admission, I'm likely going to just proxy the cards if I like the art because I'm cheap.
I'm John, I'm 30 (I'll be 31 in exactly a month from this post). I've been married to my wife Trish for 5 years this past April, and we have 3 beautiful daughters, Marisa (16), Kylie (10) and Aubrey (3). I work for a structural steel company (we do all the steel in buildings less than 5 stories high, plus stairs, rails, stuff like that) and I've been in the industry since I was 14, and I've been here since January 2008.
I have an EXTREME love for metal (I'm more into thrash and now metalcore more than death and black), and Pantera is by far my favorite band ever. I saw them 9 times between 1994 and 2001. Testament is probably my #2 (as #1 will never be topped) and it's just a bonus that they're local boys. More recently, I've become a HUGE All That Remains fan, and I've been a Trivium fan since "Ember to Inferno". Machine Head, Divine Heresy and Unearth round out my top bands that I always listen to (currently listening to: Machine Head - The Blackening). I'm also a monster Philadelphia Eagles fan, and I love all things football. I played in HS and in JC, coached a little bit after that, and my only current connection is training a friend's son, who is entering his senior year (after that...who knows?). My only other hobby that I get to engage in normally is playing Gears of War 2 with my friends over Xbox Live (Gamertag: RiteNowRiteNow).
On to the stuff you guys should've read already:
I've been playing MTG since 1994, I've taken two sabbaticals (pre-Weatherlight to Onslaught and post-Saviors to Shards of Alara). I used to play super competitively, entering Extended, Standard and Block tournaments in Northern California until my very unheralded "retirement" in 2005.
However, in 2003, I noticed our playgroup was very diverse, and no one single format fit us all (we tried to get Standard to fit, but it just didn't). So I started organizing inner-group tournaments based on off-the-wall formats. All of which we nominally successful: B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Block -- each player selects one "big" set and two "small" sets to create a block, then builds a deck using the cards from those sets), Extended Highlander (this was probably the biggest and best of all of them), Type 3 (we randomly selected a "big" set and 2 "small" sets to create a single block, and everyone built decks from that "block") and finally, Survival/Conquest.
Now, it's all about the Cube, all the time. I'm the founding father of The NorCal Crew, a group of 8 guys, who never all went to the same school at the same time, but are all inexplicably linked. We're all MTG lovers, as well as some other similar hobbies (Gears, golf, booze, etc).
It's my pleasure and my honor to even be included with this great group of MTGers, and I give my sincerest thanks to all of you, and to Cali to getting this clan started and for even thinking of including me.
Silent Edge's Tidbits of Wisdom: The Lewis Theory - When the presence of a single card makes every other card in your deck better (see Lewis, Ray). The Rubber Edict - You'd rather have it and not use it, than need it and not have it. The Shotgun Wedding - Don't commit early unless you absolutely have to.
Great to hear more about you John. Congrats on the great family! I really like your girls' names. Sounds like you have an interesting job too, we are certainly a diverse bunch.
Gotta love Pantera, I recently saw Down live and they were absolutely stunning, Anselmo sounds as good as ever. Check out Gojira (The Way of All Flesh is a good place to start - Oroboros is one of my fave songs ), you might like 'em. I like some of those other bands you mentioned too. There's some really good music in metal/rock, it's probably the genre I listen to most often, Jazz being a close second.
I'm also really into football, or what you guys call soccer My team is AFC Bournemouth... you'll not have heard of them. The Cherries are a fourth division team with a great local fanbase. It's my only sport although I used to dabble in rugby.
Like I said, I've been playing since 1994, and it is by FAR (and I mean light years) the most fun I've ever had playing any MTG format.
@Goodking - I've been meaning to check out Gojira now for quite some time, but when I sit in front of iTunes, they're usually overshadowed by a list of stuff I wanna get my hands on. I'll definitely get something this week (although...new Divine Heresy comes out this week!). I ran into Lita (Dimebag's woman) at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival about 2 weeks ago. My wife and I talked to her for like 10-15 minutes, and we were talking about how amazing Phil used to be prior to his heroin addiciton -- it seems that he's back on track. Hopefully, he's laying off the sauce.
The job is pretty laid back. I've been a project manager, which is totally high stress (most of the PMs here are losing their hair), but I was a PM when I was 23, which is SUPER young. Most dudes that are PMs are in their late 40s. Anyways, my dad taught me the business when I was 14, and the first thing I learned was estimating (which is what I do now -- I basically took a lower-tiered job so I can get in at the company, which is Top 5 in NorCal). I make the comment to my wife that I can't believe I earn a paycheck doing what I do. We do have our fair share of interesting, high tension moments, with our general contracting clients -- but we've done work for people like: Microsoft, Western Digital, Apple, Cisco, Pixar, the SF 49ers and I recently won a big job for SFO (San Francisco International Airport). I don't know what people are talking about when they say the economy sucks -- we've been bidding jobs like crazy, which means people that have money are wanting to spend it building (because building stuff right now is cheap -- err "competitive").

I knew that we all seemed to have similar interests outside of Magic, but I had no idea that we were all metal heads.
@Usman: No "About Me" post? Should we just call you the mysterious Usman, fan of metal and Opeth?
@Silent Edge: Great to have you here, man. I too have just recently become a huge fan of All That Remains. They actually played a club here not too long ago, but I couldn't get anyone to go with me. Apparently I have lame friends. I also really wanted to go to Mayhem this year as well, but the closest show was Va Beach. My friend and I made the trek (like 9 hours) up there last year to watch the show, but we just couldn't scrape together the cash for it this year. I got to see Machine Head last year. That was amazing. They closed their set with Davidian and it was probably one of the best live songs I've ever seen. Killswitch is there this year, right? How was their show? That's a band I'd love to see live, but just haven't had the chance.
My job is also very laid back with a few high stress moments thrown in. I'm in tech support, so some days are just me spamming up Salvation all day. Other days I get call after call and it seems like the entire company is about to just crash. And then other days is all about the project and I spend all day working on one specific thing. For the most part I love my job, but the pay could definitely be a lot better. Speaking of my job... my posting will probably be a bit more sporatic than usual this week because I'm not in the office this week. Boo on that, I know... but it's what pays me, so I gotta do what the bossman says.
In other news... I found Guitar Hero 3 at Gamestop over the weekend for like 10 bucks, so I picked that up and I've been rocking the plastic guitar ever since. I want to play World Tour and Metallica, but haven't had the chance yet. Any of you guys Guitar Hero fans? I need to pick up Gears of War 2, but just haven't yet. The first one was so much fun. I've also been immersed in the world of Nazi Zombies on Call of Duty: World at War. That small section of the game is reason enough to buy it. It's so much fun.
Outside the world of video games I watched I Love You Man over the weekend as well. Paul Rudd is so ****ing funny. He's come a long way since Clueless. If any of you guys enjoy movies like 40 Year Old Virgin or Old School, you'll dig this flick. It's so funny. Next up to watch: Watchmen.
EDIT: @Zaph: You gotta play the cube, man! It's the best limited format, if not the best Magic format, ever. Hands down, no contest.
I gotta sweet picture of Phil Labonte (All That Remains' lead singer) with my wife (who, post-show is now a huge fan). I got Overcome and a 16x24 poster signed by the band. Pretty sweet. Mayhem was an awesome experience -- got to meet Trivium (again), ATR (1st time) and Rita. My nephew ran into Byron from God Forbid. Killswitch are absolutely amazing live. Howard Jones' vocals are spot on, and one can easily forget how many good songs they have until they play them all live (Point of reference: They OPENED with "Last Serenade"). Trivium also did very well, and I was mostly impressed with (1) No material from "The Crusade" and (2) their vocal harmonies. ATR has quite the female following, which came as a bit of a shock to me.
Machine Head's "Davidian" never ceases to amaze me. That song kicked off their major label debut album "Burn My Eyes", and it was an amazing song then (LET FREEDOM RING WITH A SHOTGUN BLAST!!! -- which also doubles as a favorite Gears quote) -- then I saw a video of them playing it live at a festival and it just seriously stuns me how timeless of a song it really is. Name me another metal tune from 1994, that when played live 15 years later sounds BETTER than it did then (save for anything off of "Far Beyond Driven"). What an awesome song to close a set with.
This might shock y'all too: I still HAVE NOT seen Machine Head live. I've had 4 separate occassions where I was going to/might go and something came up or fell through. My office is actually located in the city where they're from (Fremont). Pretty sad huh? They are #1 on my Metal Bucket List though.
As far as plastic guitars go: my family is more into Rock Band. I played GH:WT and GH:M and even though I'm a Metallica fan, it didn't really do anything for me. Rock Band has way more songs, and literally TONS of downloadable content.
Cali, you gotta get Gears 2. New maps come out tomorrow!!! I've been playing since the day Gears 1 came out, and I'm telling you -- it's hands-down the most fun MP game ever. It helps that they have 5v5 instead of 4v4, and all the different game types help too (I suggest playing some rounds of Horde to start, it helps you adjust to the new gameplay and the weapons).

The Rubber Edict - You'd rather have it and not use it, than need it and not have it. The Shotgun Wedding - Don't commit early unless you absolutely have to.
EDIT: Temporarily removed AznOpium. He's currently in another clan and wants to leave them on good terms before joining up here.
as the leader of Aznopium's former clan, it's all good to add him on to yours
also... wondering about how you guys feel about power/no power in cubes. the one time i cubed, it was a powered cube, and it felt REALLY good to go turn 1 island, mox sapphire, ancestral recall; turn 2, tinker, sac the mox for 11/11 indestructible ... but i understand there are valid arguments against power, as well. i'd like to consider the opinions of people who are more experienced with cubing, as i am considering building my own cube (well, more like copying someone else's cube; i don't have the time or desire to work out every card myself) and would definitely like some input

Think of it this way -- all the stuff that's been restricted and/or banned in the history of MTG was restricted or banned for a reason. For you to get that certain card combined with whatever else made it R/B, would be a shot in the dark to see in the same draft, let alone for you to draft them into the same deck, LET ALONE to get the combo in a game.
The way I see it, is that I want to play with the best cards in MTG history in one sitting.
Most people that don't run Powered Cubes are those who either (1) don't proxy, (2) don't have the cards, (3) are running a special formatted Cube or (4) any combination of the previous 3.

Hey! I spoke to GoC and it seems like it is okay for me to join the Cube Clan. And of course, GoC being on top of things comes in and posts that as well! Thanks GoC!
So yeah, should i give an intro of myself?
@Silent Edge ---> May i ask you a personal question? Feel free to not respond if it is too personal!
I was doing the math of your daughters and you and it would seem that you had a kid when you were quite young. How was that like?
Again, might be digging too deep so feel free to disregard me!
@Usman: No "About Me" post? Should we just call you the mysterious Usman, fan of metal and Opeth?
Oh hell, I'll bite.
I'm one of those weirdos whose actual name is his online moniker. I'm in my late 20s, currently getting an MBA and hoping to break into information science, as that will be my MBA emphasis, once I graduate.
I've been into video games for a short eternity although I've slowed down recently because I'm a broke grad student, although I typically like a lot of platformers and RPGs.
I've loved metal also for ages, I first liked Metallica (through ...Load of all things at first.) and went headfirst into Dream Theater, although I'd consider myself more of a fan of the death/thrash/black style than power and, as I said earlier, I've been not so good about keeping up with the scene lately, which I do miss. Lately, I've been on a Tony Macalpine, Vinnie Moore, Dream Theater and random video game music soundtrack kick.
Agreed on cube being the best format, hands down. It's no contest, I thought Shadowmoor block draft sucked and m10 draft was meh (Alara block was ok to draft) but compared to cube? No contest.

had i seen this earlier, i'd have had to reply to this. i LOVE this song and i scream that line any time i listen to it, as do my friends whenever it comes on. their first two albums were amazing; i had their third but i wasn't much into it. it's a lot different to me. i've seen them live a few times - the first time, they had their power cut during the third song because ozzy is a douche and forced them off the second stage during the first ozzfest tour here in NY. they came back here and played a "make-up" show at CBGB's, which was one of the more memorable (for relatively positive reasons) overly-trashed nights out i ever had. - for the record, i'm a fan of '80's thrash and various other metal as well... (some of my favorite bands are voivod, coroner, meshuggah, and morbid angel, to give you an idea). i saw pantera a TON of times, they were amazing. dime was a great guy; he was chilling in the crowd before the show first time i saw them (right after cowboys came out).
The way I see it, is that I want to play with the best cards in MTG history in one sitting.
personally, i'm leaning towards powered, for that reason. we played from a 720-card stack, but with 6 people drafting, so there was nowhere close to the full complement of power available. i only lost to the guy who drafted mono-blue counterspells.

Coroner is so amazingly good, I wasn't a huge fan of Grin but their other more technical thrash was such great technical thrash. Punishment for Decadence was probably my favorite although No More Color has a lot of sentimentality for me as their first album.
Name is Ben, 29. Just got married this year, (hooray). been on and off of mtg for awhile. Live in NJ, work in NYC. used to live in NYC before i got married. Use to work for one of the big Ibanks but i got ;et go late lat year. work at a law firm now. I also goto grad school part time, 2 more years of that and I will ahve my mba in Finance/Marketing.
in terms of mtg
Played in 1993 - 1995 (stopped after they printed homelands, so terrible). didn't play against till Onslaught block and stopped again after Darksteel. came back in during planar chaos/future sight..
didnt start my cube till i read about it on scg. got me excited. first started building my cube in early 2008. using evan's cube then to Pringlesman cube. Been pimpin ever since. I have a 62 cards more to pimp in a cube of 720. Not too shabby.
I do trade a lot. I am motl same handle, have about 300 refs there. Hard to get pimpage on mtgs unfortunately.
dont play much tourneys, just pre-releases and most drafting the new stuff or cubing.
yep, musically, i like alternative stuff, i guess. haha

I was doing the math of your daughters and you and it would seem that you had a kid when you were quite young. How was that like?
I met my wife 7 years ago, Marisa had just turned 9 and Kylie was 3. The two of them are my step-daughters, but I've been the only "fatherly" influence in their lives, so to them I'm daddy. After I proposed to her, I told both of them that they would never have to call me "dad", as it's a term of endearment and one that is earned. I said that I would never force it on them, and it would be entirely up to them to do so. They've been calling me dad for years now.

Which RPGs?
My buddies got me into Metallica during the Master of Puppets days (I was 8 effing years old), and I was in Jr High when the Black Album hit the public. I try to explain to my 16 year old how HUGE Metallica was back then. I can't even relate it to another artist nowadays. I mean they were EVERYWHERE during the Black Album (TV, print, radio, etc). Half of that album became singles (Sandman, Sad But True, Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, Nothing Else Matters, Of Wolf and Man) and the other half was even better than those (My favorite songs off that album are the last three -- The God That Failed, My Friend of Misery and The Struggle Within). My senior year in HS, they released Load -- and I remember listening to "Until it Sleeps" when it first hit radio, and my buddy who's a GIANT Metallica fan looks at me and goes, "You seem really unimpressed with this." Keep in mind that I've gone full-blown Pantera by this point, and for mighty Metallica to release an alt-rock album was one of the most disappointing moments in my life.
Metallica has been on the slide down my personal list of favorite bands ever since. I will most likely go see them in December now that I've learned Machine Head will be opening for them (I didn't go LAST December, because I'm not a Lamb of God fan -- and I wasn't going to go this year, because LoG was supposed to open again).

I saw Morbid Angel twice (both with Pantera -- and the last time was the last time I saw Pantera during the Real Steel Tour in 2000 -- Morbid Angel, Skrape, Static-X, Slayer and Pantera -- that was an arena full of awesome!!!), Pete Sandoval FTFW!! I like me some Meshuggah, but I'm not a huge fan.
I won't get started on the whole balance issue (it's come to be known as "The Great Color Balance Debate of 2009" in the Cube Forums -- but if there's a dude who can draft mono-blue counterspells in a 6-man draft with a Cube that effing large -- you're clearly UNbalanced. That leads to making the format UNfun.
(To the guys who have participated in said Debate -- did GoC just make my point about being balanced?!)

maybe I am immature at 29, but i couldnt imagine being a father/father figure to 3 kids by the age 30.
I'm the youngest of 4 siblings -- all sisters -- and I was an uncle when I was 3. So I've been around kids for the bulk of my life, and I've been their "older brother" since I was a teen -- and I still am today. It probably made the transition that much easier for me.

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:

On a MTG related note, I pre-ordered a four-box of Planechase this week, I'm excited about the implications of that for Cube gaming. I expect each plane to have powerful static effects and they could be quite fun if people are happy to add another luck element to the gameplay.
On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:
I'm pretty psyched for Planechase as well. I'm actually quite surprised that more info on it and FTV: Exiled hasn't been released or leaked yet. We've got next to nothing on both of those sets. I'm especially anxious to find out what's in FTV: Exiled, or should I say FTV: Cube?

Porcupine Tree is criminally underrated, sadly. But, so awesome.
I used to write cube articles on StarCityGames, now for GatheringMagic and podcast about cube (w/Antknee42.)
On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:
I think that Berserk should definitely be worth the price of admission, I'm likely going to just proxy the cards if I like the art because I'm cheap.
I used to write cube articles on StarCityGames, now for GatheringMagic and podcast about cube (w/Antknee42.)
Nothing but love.

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:

It helps that they have 5v5 instead of 4v4, and all the different game types help too (I suggest playing some rounds of Horde to start, it helps you adjust to the new gameplay and the weapons).

also... wondering about how you guys feel about power/no power in cubes. the one time i cubed, it was a powered cube, and it felt REALLY good to go turn 1 island, mox sapphire, ancestral recall; turn 2, tinker, sac the mox for 11/11 indestructible ... but i understand there are valid arguments against power, as well. i'd like to consider the opinions of people who are more experienced with cubing, as i am considering building my own cube (well, more like copying someone else's cube; i don't have the time or desire to work out every card myself) and would definitely like some input

And if I've offended you, I'm sorry, but maybe you need to be offended. But here's my apology and one more thing...

No contest.
I used to write cube articles on StarCityGames, now for GatheringMagic and podcast about cube (w/Antknee42.)
personally, i'm leaning towards powered, for that reason. we played from a 720-card stack, but with 6 people drafting, so there was nowhere close to the full complement of power available. i only lost to the guy who drafted mono-blue counterspells.

didnt start my cube till i read about it on scg. got me excited. first started building my cube in early 2008. using evan's cube then to Pringlesman cube. Been pimpin ever since. I have a 62 cards more to pimp in a cube of 720. Not too shabby.
I do trade a lot. I am motl same handle, have about 300 refs there. Hard to get pimpage on mtgs unfortunately.
dont play much tourneys, just pre-releases and most drafting the new stuff or cubing.
yep, musically, i like alternative stuff, i guess. haha
