Welcome to the ranks of the FUZZY FURRY FREAKY BATALLION!
We have but one rule: play nice. That means no drama, no BS, etc. Just be nice and we'll probably all get along and then nobody has to be killed. And really, who doesn't enjoy not being killed? Hooray!
My wife and I both love rootbeer. My favorite is Henry Weinhard's rootbeer. It is very good. I don't go for Barqs or Mug, but A&W is ok. Tommy Knocker Rootbeer is very good, too. I am on the beer tour at Old Chicago, and since she has been pregnant, my wife could not drink any alcohol, so she joined the Old Chicago Rootbeer tour. You get a t-shirt for drinking the 20 or so different rootbeers on the tour. Here's a good list of root beers.
Hm...our local Old Chicagos don't offer a rootbeer tour. I know Teresa's going to miss her Woodchuck Amber Ciders when she's pregnant but maybe by that time ours will offer the rootbeer tour.

Hard cider is about the only kind of beer Teresa will drink. I'll usually make her take a sip of whatever I get and she usually ends up gagging. She did appreciate the faint citrus and hint of banana in my favorite beer to date: Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel.
And on the subject of Guinness: the extra stout is great but the bottled draught is horrible

Yeah, the bottles are horrid, but the cans and from the tap are most excellent. I think that Guinness is bar far my favorite beer. I have tried a bunch of ciders too, and I like most of them.
Has anyone seen the new Batman yet? I probably won't be going out to the movies for quite a bit, but I think that this is one I would really like to see.

Heh. If you like Guinness, you should go to Ireland. I'm sure it's probably impossible, but I swear they keep the best stuff for themselves and ship out the rest.
Actually, that's basically what they do.
There are different brews of Guinness either produced for or in several other locations/markets. El Salvador, Ghana, Continental Europe, Belgium, China/Indonesia, Malaysia/Singapore, and Nigeria all have Guinness versions that are produced by local breweries that, while based on the same formula, end up tasting a little different. Then, apparently, they take the worst crap that's left over and ship it to America as bottled Guinness Draught.

I might be able to see Batman this weekend, if both my wife and I can get back to my parents' house Sunday. If she can't make it I might just go see Cinderella Man with my dad since it's not one she wants to see. If we move frisbee practice back to 7 (from 4), we should both be able to make it.

I heard that Batman was actually really good, much better than that 90's crap. I hope it lives up to expectations, but I'm sure it won't touch Sin City as best comic book adaption to date.
I saw it Sunday and It is right there in terms of best adaption from a comic book. It is far and away the best Batman and Best DC comic movie ever made. I think the only thing Sin City has over it is the Skin. Batman has it in terms of story.
Close call but I think I'll go with Batman.

If they send the crap to us, then the really good stuff must be incredible. I always used to like Guinness a lot. We should get even with them by sending them Budweiser, although I'm not sure they would drink it.

Lol, hope everyone had a good time this weekend. I know i did. For those that do not know, which is everyone, i went camping with my friends. We wend to Killbear Provincal Park. The name is very misleading, as there are no bear killings, which i will say is a good thing. I played football, made smores, attempted to tan on the beach, go cliff jumping (not that big) napped, ate some delicious food and got to spend some quality time with the GF. All in all it was a very good time.
Although this did not happen to my tent, others swear it did. Apparetnly, after Saturday night, people forgot to put all the food away. We were quite drunk at the time, so it is reasonable. This ment that the animals were coming out. We got lucky, it was only the racoons that came, no bears. At about 4 am, the people in the tent were woken up by growls. About 3/4 (they never really found out) racoons were cirlcing the tent. There were 5 people in the tent, all huddled in the middle of the tent, holding the only flashlight like a club, staring at the one entrance. Eventually the racoons got bored, hungry again or whatever because they left without any more problems.
One problem that i had was the fact that I had to do the 3 hour drive. It aint that bad, but after spending all day sitting down in an office chair, it can be quite annoying and tiring. Another problem that i had was the air mattress that my GF brought up had the smallest of holes in it, that i couldnt find. This meant that over the course of the night, it would leak just enough air so my should/back was in full contact with the ground. This also usually ment that my feet were higher than my head which meant headaches, sore necks and a grumpy me. Oh well, it was worth it.
I hope this post is atleast somewhat comprehensable as im too lazy to proof read it right now.

Well, I had a pretty nice first Father's Day. We went down to my parent's house and introduced Gwendyl to her great-grandparents. I got the Karate Kid boxed set. It was a very nice day.
That is, until the drive home. We were half a mile away from home when we suddenly saw a poor little puppy running across the street. It came out from in front of the car in the lane next to us. I slowed down as much as I could and tried to swerve. I wasn't good enough and we hit it. If I had swerved any further, we would have gone into on coming traffic. My and I were really freaked out, I was even more because I saw the dog get hit again by a truck behind us. I have never hit a dog before and it was such a great day until then. We felt/feel so bad. I had to go home and give my two pugs each a big hug.
On a brighter note, my daughter is almost back up to her birth weight. She is now waking us up when she is hungry. This way we have actually been getting more sleep. Everything is calming down around the house. We are starting to get into a rythym.

So, is there something wrong with me if I hate root beer? And beer for that matter? Oh ya, I said it, I hate the taste of beer!
No, there's nothing wrong with that; my wife hates beer, also. Well, she hates most beer, I should say. It took me a while to develop a taste for it as well as to realize that there's much MUCH more to it than just the standard Bud and Coors crap that most people start off with. For example, just from the beers in my bottle collection, I've sampled:
Amber ales
Belgian strong ales
Brown ales
English pale ales
English strong ales
Irish ales
Old ales
Scotch ales
Premium bitters
Bocks
Doppelbocks
Ciders
Dunkels
Dunkelweizens
Hefeweizens
American dark lagers
Dortmunders
Pale lagers
Premium lagers
Vienna lagers
Fruit lambics
Malt liquors
Oktoberfests
Pilseners
Bohemian Pilseners
Classic German Pilseners
Dry stouts
and Sweet stouts
...all of which have unique tastes and subtle variations among styles. Even if you hate the taste of 'beer' (by which most people mean 'pale lager'), you'd still probably like ciders, lambics, and possibly some of the sweeter, more chocolatey stouts.

So, is there something wrong with me if I hate root beer? And beer for that matter? Oh ya, I said it, I hate the taste of beer!
Not unless there is something wrong with me for HATING the taste of celery. No kidding, I absolutely hate celery. Just the smell of it makes me gag. I have no idea why but it is one of the very few things that I hate the taste of.
Father's day really turned out to be a great day!
My wife and sons got me a flying lesson. Two hours in a Cessna single engine plane and at the end I got to fly the plane for about the last twenty minutes. We took off and were going to fly over the downtown of Detroit but there was a Tiger's baseball game today so there was a no fly zone within three miles of the ball park. So we flew out over Lake St. Clair and then went north up by the Selfridge Airforce Base. We then went west and that's when I got to take the controls and fly. It was a little scary at first but after about 5 minutes it was no big deal.
They also took me out to a great japanese restraurant for dinner. I love Sushi! and after that we saw Batman Begins. Easily the best Batman movie ever and maybe the best comic book movie yet!
I also got an Eastern Redbud tree that the boys and I planted in the back yard.

Well, on the subject of food-related hatings, I hate cucumbers (as well as their close relative: pickles). Ick.
Now back to beer I just had a delicious porter (my first of that style) tonight at a party one of the Ultimate players won at a local restaurant. The prize was supposed to be a catered party for 20 people but they gave us two medium pizzas, a plate of buffalo wings, and one bowl of tortilla chips. Hm... Well, luckily only like 10 people showed up but it was still fun; and that beer was outstanding! Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter, to be exact. I've absolutely loved all of the Samuel Smith's beers I've tried, particularly this one and the Oatmeal Stout. Great, great stuff.
