Welcome to the ranks of the FUZZY FURRY FREAKY BATALLION!

Heh. My neck doesn't hurt, but yesterday just about everything else did. I was really sick yesterday and my head was aching and my nose was both stopped up and runny, my joints hurt, and my whole body was really sensitive and weak...and I had to work a 14-hour day. That was fun to no end. Thank god the Jayhawks lost so we could go home early. We were in Kansas City covering the Big 12 basketball tournament and if KU would have won, we would have had to stay for another day.
But with them losing, that means they'll probably get a lower seed for the NCAA tournament which means that we'll probably be driving a heck of a lot farther next weekend to cover their first tournament game. Had they won, they'd probably have been playing in Oklahoma City (about 2.5 hours away), but now they might be playing in Tucson (about 18 hours away). Joy.

Sorry, Darn flash backs.
Excellent timing for a new thread. Now that Spring is poised to sprung?, sprang?, sproing?, spring?....nothing sounds right. I'm sticking with sprung.
Tanis - why does your neck hurt?
I just saw a commercial for Sin City for the first time yesterday. That looks cool. Frank Miller is a great comic writer and has done some of the best work in comic writing in the last 15 years. I'm really looking forward to it now. Revenge of the Sith looks to be the best movie so far in the Star Wars series. That is also a great looking commercial/preview.
Ex - Thanks for starting up the new thread. It should breath a little life back into the clan. I hope you feel better. I am going in to have a Catscan done this afternoon on my sinus. With any luck they will see the sponge that was left in there when I had nose surgery and I'll be sinus pain free.
I'm in the second round of the 2005 NDL Fantasy Baseball League draft. This is the league I've been playing in since 1978. My team, that has been named since 1978 believe it or not, is called The Fabulous, Furry Wambats. I named them after the Fabulous, Furry Freak Brothers from Rip Off Press comics in the early 1970's.
The wombats are the winningest team in NDL history. 8 World titles and 12 2nd place finishes in a twelve team league. Not bad.
Each year we get to keep ten players from the prior season and then we draft fifteen new players for a 25 players roster.

I've never really gotten into the whole fantasy football thing. Every once in a while I'll sign up for one of the "pick 'em" games where you pick who you think will win each week, but that's about as involved as I get in stuff like that.
As for me feeling better, I'm feeling much better today. I'm thinking about driving back home to finally see my family's new house and to spend some time with them since I haven't seen them for weeks.

I was joking about the sponge. It's just that ever since I had my deviate septum corrected I have had near constant sinus headaches and infections. I'm not sure why but before the operation I never had those problems.
our fantasy Baseball league actually started out as a Strat-o-Matic baseball card league until after every one graduated and moved away. It's a great way for us to keep in touch. One of the guys in the league is my oldest friend. We went to preschool together when we were 4 years old.

Hawkeye: I've never tried a fantasy baseball league, but it sounds interesting. I've tried most of the others. I really like the fantasy football and hockey (damn NHL!), but basketball was fun and golf was kinda neat. I suppose if you stay away from any Colorado pitchers it could be fun!
I really want to see Sin City it looks very cool and I've heard that Episode III will be the darkest most violent movie Lucas has ever done. I downloaded the trailer and my wife and I have watched it quite a few times. She really can't wait for this one. She will be 8 months pregnant by May 19th and says she will still want to go. I don't know how comfortable those seats will be for her. At least the armrest lift up and she can lie down a little.

One of the gys I work with said he was at the movies this weekend and they had a 5-10 minute preview of the Star wars movie. He said it gave him goosebumps it looked so good. He also said it was more like the first series of movies in that it was more like them technology wise. He said that the last two movies seemed to him that the technology was more advanced then in the first three movies. I see what he means.
It should be really good.

Well, after watching the NCAA bracket coverage yesterday, I have a pretty good idea what I'll be doing this weekend. Thank goodness KU got put in Oklahoma City which will save me about 31 hours of drive time (round trip). If they win their first round game we'll probably drive back and forth Friday and then back and forth again on Sunday for their second round game.
Hopefully the food at the NCAA tournament will be better than the food at the Big 12 tournament (which sucked...a lot). In the semifinal round all they gave the media to eat were hot dogs and tortilla chips. That was freaking sad. Sure it was free, but come on...
Teresa will be really glad when all this March Madness is over with. She's getting really sick of me being gone every weekend for days at a time. She's really hoping KU loses in the first two rounds so I don't have to drive to wherever the heck they'd play after that.

As I've mentioned before, my wife, Teresa, is studying to become a music teacher and has only one semester left before she graduates. I said something a while back about her applying for the soon-to-be-vacant music teacher position at her old grade school. Well, now apparently there will also be vacancies at both Catholic high schools in town (one of which she attended). Also good is the fact that they're apparently wanting to hire someone right out of school to fill at least one of the openings.
Even though she wouldn't be making a ton of money there, if she found out fairly soon that she has a shot at landing one of those jobs that could signigicantly impact how seriously I start to pursue sending out resume tapes to stations outside Wichita and in other states to try and find an on-air position. If she gets one of those jobs I'd be more than happy to stick around here at least a few more years to see if anything opens up close to home (the current sports reporter has 2 years left on his contract, after which he would quite possibly be moving on).
That's pretty cool because I really like it here and I am not really looking forward to starting over in some smaller-market town (like Jonesborough, Arkansas or Lincoln, Nebraska) just so I can have an on-air job.

Thanks, Hawkeye. It's my first attempt at an animated GIF and it didn't turn out too bad. I still need to work on the colors a bit and I would like to add more frames, but the file gets big really quick, I have found.
The AMC theatres around us all have the lift-up arm rests so that is nice.
extremeicon: I wish you and you wife good luck with the job arrangements.
My wife really hates her job right now. With her being 6 months pregnant now, it is hard for her to keep with it. She really wants to quit. She just put in for a new position down at our college campus and they seem like they will be willing to give her the needed time off after the baby is born, so that is good news. I just put in for a new position with in State Farm as well. Hopefully it will come with a raise!
Tanis - It's funny. I have only seen the Sin City trailer once and that was just recently. Has it been promoted much? I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
Con - you made that? It looks really good. I've not tried to do gifs. What program did you use?
Ex - Those sound like really great opportunities for Teresa. There is A Lot to be said for enjoying your job and the area you live in. Believe me working in a place you aren't happy in is not worth the extra money. Well, at least for me it wasn't. Hindsight is always 20/20.
I'm in the process of developing a new product training course for our companies employees. Specifics of Plastics for Automation and robotic applications! Woo Hoo!
I'll have to travel to our other branchs and do the training, which I have done before. It should be done in about a month. I've done this twice before each time the company has given me a nice bonus, which always comes in handy.

Also, one of the vocal music groups that Teresa is in are going to be singing the National Anthem tonight. Have fun at the NIT tonight extremeicon. Denver University goes to San Francisco to play in the NIT; it's their first post season game in 46 years. Its pretty eciting, Denver is coming around as a pretty good basketball town. The Nuggets may make it to the playoff 2 years in a row and the High School tournaments just ended and my wife's High School won its first championship in its history. Although my High School has not been near as good at basketball since Chauncey Billups left, they did fairly good this year. Very fun!

Wow, was that a good game. The shockers haven't played like that since the beginning of the season (when they started out 9-0 then 18-3 until losing 6-8 down the stretch).
Both teams (they were playing Houston, who beat LSU, Louisville, and Memphis this year) were playing about as well as they could and the game was tied or within 4 or 5 the entire way until WSU went on a 21-3 run to end the game. It was just nuts. They hit some really huge 3's that caused Houston to basically give up the last 2.5 minutes.
Unfortunately, though, I won't be able to cover their next NIT game against Western Kentucky because I'll be in Oklahoma City for KU's first few NCAA games. Oh well. I just hope KU loses early so I don't have to drive to Syracuse (20 hours)

To those FFFBers who reside in Canada: I hate your country.
The last 13 batches of product I've had to test have been identical ones to be shipped to Canada. With 8 more to come. EXACTLY THE SAME EVERY TIME.
Perhaps I can convince Mr Bush that Canada is where Bin Laden has been hiding all along...
Hey now!, no call to be hating on our beloved brothers to the north. There are many of us here in the US the like Canada more then some of our states. Those states know who they are.
Besides it's only a matter of time before Bin Laden if caught in a brothel in Paris.
What kind of product is it?

With the Fantasy Basketball league and Fantasy Baseball League I'm in on top of trivia threads I completely forgot to get into a NCAA Tourny pool! At the office it was a $20.00 pool and I think the payoff for winning it all is $500.00. I won it 2 years ago but the payoff then was only $350.00. Not bad, it covered a car payment.
I pleased to see my old school MSU won their first round match up. They had a pretty disappointing season but I have high hopes for them in the tourny. Maybe even making it to the sweet sixteen.
Speaking of car payments I have only one more to go on my Contour. Woo Hooo!!!
It will be so nice not to have to shell out that money every month. I figure I'll drive it until my youngest son is ready to drive and give it to him. That will be 2 years and since I still have 2 years to go on my other car I'll just pick up a new one then and still have only one payment.

Slowly, but well.
One of our members left for the last two days and neglected to tell anyone. We waited for a day them went on without him. He came back late last night and made the 4 picks he missed. The bum snagged three of the players I was looking at. This is the Wombats roster so far.

I should be up for two picks about mid afternoon today.
I'll be rounding out my starting pitching staff with the sleeper pick Andy Pettitte, who was injured half of last year, and the best hitting infielder left when I pick. I'm hoping either Mike Sweeney or Vinnie Castilla will still be left. After these two picks I'll be looking to snag some talented young prospects. That's where you can really pick up some major points if you grab a rookie who has a great season.

I just downloaded it today and Teresa and I have already watched it a couple of times. She absolutely loves Star Wars and we're really looking forward to going to the midnight showing the first day. Hopefully, though, she won't be pregnant by that time as we're planning on waiting to have a child till we can actually afford it
It should be really good.

Hey now!, no call to be hating on our beloved brothers to the north. There are many of us here in the US the like Canada more then some of our states. Those states know who they are.
Besides it's only a matter of time before Bin Laden if caught in a brothel in Paris.
What kind of product is it?

I can't believe Oakland University beat Alabama to get into the big dance. It's amazing how hyped up that school is right now.

I'll try. As long as there's good food it shouldn't be too bad
Heh. Too bad they're going to get trounced the first game. I even picked Alabama A&M to beat them in the play-in game. Oh well. Hopefully my fairly clean, upset-free bracket can win me some money this year...
Denver University lost last night so they are out at the NIT, oh well. I hope my bracket goes well. I entered to win a flat screen TV with it!
"If you don't meet the confrontations that life gives you, you're going to be screwed anyway." - JohnPopper
A flat screen? Yowza! If I win our company pool I might get $300. Though I guess that might be enough to get me a fourth mox if I can weasel it past my wife...

Wichita State is playing their second NIT game tonight against Western Kentucky. They're having one of the news photographers shoot it so that I can have the day off but since the game's not on TV I'm thinking of going in anyway and just sitting on the media sideline to watch it.
