I do not think there will be a cycl... Wait, we *do* have a cat dragon legendary. I was thinking that they would not be able to have cross-tribal synergies with cats but that is actually not impossible, given said legendary. Then again, cross-tribal cards would actually be the best kind of tribal cards for us and since people occasionally try and force tribal themes, maybe one could consider cards like this an investment into the future.
I imagine there will at least be some form of uncommon equipment despite that mostly being the themes of the cats and hopefully some form of non-rare universal fixing land not bound to Commander rules.
Not sure if Bloodline Necromancer is worth it right now, but getting back Artist or Nighthawk is not bad at all. Probably a card that goes into the maybe pile in case we get some more insane vampires and wizards.
When Bloodline Necromancer enters the battlefield, you may return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand. If that card is a Wizard or a Vampire, put it onto the battlefield instead.

The problem is that the tribes are cats, wizards, dragons and vampires. I have 0 dragons, 4 cats (in four different colors), 6 vampires (all black) and 10 wizards (mostly blue and black) in my cube. I'm surprised I have that many wizards, never noticed it. So the only remotely playable card was spoiled already - the black vampire wizard.
But I'm also hoping for a nice, playable equipment.
Oh, yes, that is a good point when it comes to *this* product. I was thinking more along the lines of general design philosophy for tribal cards. Before this, I think examples of cross-tribal support in single cards have been fairly rare. Death Baron and Auntie's Snitch pop to mind.
Wow, I just banned Warren Pilferers for being too strong, so I'm really glad they made a *****ty, unreliable and useless version I can replace it with.

Well, to be fair: Bloodline Necromancer *is* considerably stronger in formats with splashy big creatures it can revive. Notably (and unsurprisingly) EDH.
Oh, Path of Ancestry means that we will almost certainly not be receiving any quality fixing. It has almost every possible restriction imaginable, including only working in EDH.

Artifact || uncommon
As Mirror of the Forebears enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
{1}:Until end of turn, ~ becomes a copy of target creature you control of the chosen type, except it's an artifact in addition to its other types.
Just pointing out that Human has a lot of good cards in every colour. While there's no real Humans.dec in the format yet, these "tribal-but-flexible" cards could one day find a niche there.
Agree, but there aren't a ton of effects worth copying at peasant level and most of our creatures are good because of their etb effects, which you don't get with the copy. At this point the only tribal creatures worth copying that are somewhat commonly played that I can think of right now are Bramblewood Paragon and Imperious Perfect. So we're pretty much down to naming Human or Soldier or Goblin and copying a creature that does something when it attacks, like Elite Scaleguard.
Theoretically the power is there, but for us, it needs a very specific cube to be worth it.
I wonder if this quote from Gavin Verhey's article means that Bloodline Necromancer is the only cross-tribe uncommon. It can definitely be read that way:
Eventually, in development, the uncommon Cat Dragon was cut. (Though there is still one of the dual-type cards remaining among the decks. Keep your eyes out!)
Oh, yeah... Curse of Verbosity, Curse of Disturbance, and Curse of Opulence will all most definitely get tested. Speaking of any defensive uses (since you can also enchant yourself), the black curse and even Curse of Bounty seem good. Untapping all your non-lands whenever you are attacked? It somehow feels even better defensively than the kind of pseudo-vigilance enchanting an opponent would give, even if the latter option also clearly has its benefits. I might even test that one out.
Edit: Though... Using them defensively in 1v1 does make them symmetrical. That is bad. Then again, the Grixis curses are clearly good enough for their primary mode.
Edit2: The more I look at the lumbersexual hipster in all these arts, the more I hate his guts. While it is not my own style, I have no particular opinions on the style itself. However, it feels wrong on a Magic card even if there is nothing particularly modern about the style itself. The fact that it is currently in vogue affects my perception of it on card art.
Also, yeah I like the red curse. I dont know why, again, they gave us the black curse's effect, but it sure makes the white curse look like the redheaded stepchild again. I wish they wouldn't make such painfully unbalanced cycles, it's just a waste.

Perhaps you can find some solace in the fact that he's the target of no less than five curses. I wonder if Kieran Yanner included the style because he likes it or because he wanted it to be surrounded by hungry wolves. The world may never know.
Probably not enough targets for this, as it needs to find something to be worth it. Seems fun to bring back Corpse Augur.
EDIT:If this is a sign that there will be a cycle of uncommon tribal overlap cards, that might be bad for us

I mean it still sucks, but at least it sucks with a much higher ceiling than I thought previously
I mean, I'd probably try Metallic Mimic if it were at uncommon. Maybe we'll get something like that.

Blue one seems cool. Could be a nice tool in the blue tempo decks. It replaces itself if you already have a profitable attack. I'll test it.
