As you all arrive at the keep of Lord Hanuran, which is only big enough to house about 50 soldiers and is sparsley decorrated, you notice that the land surrounding the keep has been striped of it's trees and debries, in anticipation of war, and the small town just to the south has been abandoned and now lays desolate.
As you approch the front guard calls "Hail travelers, are you by chance the mercenary company sent for by Lord Hanuran?"
Aeris is currently deployed to the south past the abandoned town scouting the land.
Oaheim Lighthunter stands forward "Yes, indeed we are, I'm Oaheim a Cleric of Sune and lover of Whips" he says with a wolfish smile, an action which would have looked unsettling in any other person but looks rather charming in him thanks to his Celestial heritage.

Call me old fashioned, but an evil ascension to power just isn't the same without someone chanting faux Latin in the background.
Oreo, Glazing people better than Dunkin' Donuts since 2009
That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
Illorien has a look about, saying silent and allowing Oaheim speak for the group.
Monstrous, Iluvion hisses in Illorien's mind; the echoes of his thoughts panging with disgust over the stripped trees. Humans shall ever war and destroy the world with their senseless bloodlust.
Last I checked, the elves have hardly been better, Sarespan responds wryly; Or have you forgotten how you died?
Shut up, Illorien thinks irritably towards the two as they began to surge within her, struggling for dominance. I'd like to focus on the job for once without you distracting me.
You are already distracted, Táiòrel chides; You haven't noticed how they're looking at you.
Illorien gasps and covers her mouth while turning a shade of red for a moment.
"Oh, yes this is Illorien, lovely Illorien, I sometimes believe her name must mean Daydreamer since she's mostly staring blankly and gasping like that" Oaheim says with mirth to the guard as he hears Illorien's gasp.

"If you so wish, I doubt me not that we would be kept in the dark for long anyways, most likely just been asked to wait to talk to Lord Harunan himself or some other such figure" Oaheim says with a smile "But since you seem so in need of information let us quench that thirst shall we?" he continues as he turns to the guard "Any news you can give us regarding Lord Harunan's summons?" he asks the guard in a friendly manner

"It is not so much the information I am seeking, but also the reason to know if we were called for something trivial. Most lords are soo lazy that they would hire the best for something they themselves could easly do if they were to just get off their rears and do it"

"Too True however payment is payment, and we are not the kind to let work pass us by, if we are picky with the jobs we dont eat, worst case scenario we will have to haggle or just leave one of us here if the job proves to be of too small worth" Oaheim says calmly.

"Look around you," Illorien's voice says, slightly altered from its usual pitch and tone; "War is coming. It is clear we will not have an average task set before us."

"You are and are not correct, the only thing I know about this mission Lord Hanuran is hiring you for is that it is something to do with the recent rash of attacks by giants. The same giants that happened to raize that town to the south just recently."
The gaurd then turns and waves to another gaurd inside the gate "It's the mercs open the gate and send word to Lord Hanuran."
"Giants may not be the worse to fight, but they are still annoying. I say we find out how much the job pays and then decide. I don't think we should offer our services for nothing small."

As the gate opens a young lad of about the age of 12 walks forward "Are you the mercenaries my grandfather sent for?"
Everyone except Aeris is to give me a listen check.

Aeris in your search of the land to the south, as you head north to meet with the rest of the group, you see a group of 2 Hill Giants, 2 Dire Wolves, and 4 Orcs attacking a small homestead. The parent's lay dead, but you see 2 small kids of no older than 5 years of age running from the wolves.

Elarindal turns towards the right, looking for the nature of the noise
"I believe something is approaching, If it is an attack, then I would hope the lord will pay us for the inconvience of such, before we are actually hired for the job."

I like a man who loves his coin, Sarespan muses silently; so easy to work with.
Perhaps now that you're in this body you can even convince him better to do as you wish, Táiòrel taunts.
It's true, though a pretty boy like that belongs underneath me, He giggles madly in Illorien's mind; This body still has its benefits.
You're disgusting, Iluvion growls irritably.
I concur, Táiòrel laughs.
I can't think with all of you going on at once, Illorien complains; Besides, maybe I like him.
You be quiet, elfchild: I will handle this, Iluvion says disparagingly.
I think not, Sarespan objects; You'll simply blow all the cash on a tree or something.
The three continue to argue loudly in Illorien's mind as she follows the young child through the gates. After a while, she even manages to tune them out, closing them off to a dark area of her consciousness.
"Illorien, you seem preoccupied, what is on your mind this time? You are always wondering on your thoughts, perhaps something you wish to share with the rest of us before we go before this lord and make a stake at our claims" Elarindal says, looking back to see what approaches the small mercenary company.

As Elarindal turns to the right and Illorien starts to head thru the gate 4 Dire Wolves rush out from each side of the keep rushing the group and guards.
Seeing the wolves approach from the forest, Elarindal, pulls a wand from his pouch, concentrating on the object in his hands, he lets the blast fan out, engulfing the wolves toward the rear, letting the cone fan out to ensure they all receive the pain.

"I am part of the company yes, but I am no fighter"
He looks to Oaheim "Shall we inquire as to the reason for the calling"
