Without a doubt, my favorite archetype of all time is U/G Madness. My playgroup played with variants of the deck in Odyssey Block Constructed, Invasion/Odyssey Type 2, Odyssey/Onslaught Type 2, and of course, Extended. The Extended Madness deck of 2002-2005 was Tier 1, affordable and a blast to play. While I never put up any particularly noteworthy finishes with the deck, one of my best friends Top 8ed a huge Philly PTQ in December 2003.
Of course, people have different reasons for choosing the formats and decks that they decide to play. For me, Peasant provides a deckbuilding challenge and an opportunity to play cards that have sentimental, nostalgic value for me. I've never been able to drum up any interest for the format at my LGS, but I'm content to play my Peasant decks against all-takers, rares or not, and have been pleased thus far with the experience.
Below, you will find my take on Peasant U/G Madness.
- Cards like Looter il-Kor are appealing, but in homage to my nostalgia, I'd like to limit the deck only to cards with the old card frame.
-I thought about Counterspell over Mana Leak, but I'm not sure I can consistently have UU available.
-I'm sold on the 3 Arrogant Wurm, but have been back and forth on the final two uncommon slots. I'm down to 2 Wonder or 2 Roar of the Wurm. One of each just seems wrong, and I think I am going to give the nod to evasion.
Let me know what you think of the deck, both the philosophy behind it and the card choices themselves.
Do you hit thres often enough to validate Werebear?
Also, maybe a set ofTerramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds for mana fixing/more consistent thres. Plus, you could more effectively run Brainstorm with the added shuffle effect.

Hitting Threshold isn't too hard, but yeah, it can be inconsistent.
Terramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds are a no-go due to my self-imposed restriction that all of the cards should have the old card frame.
If only the wurms/Wonders weren't so essential. I would have really stressed putting some Gemstone Mine in your manabase.
I do echo the Frantic Search recommendation though, although I don't remember if you actually get to untap the lands prior to using the madness ability on cards...

Yeah, you do. Draw 2 - Discard 2 (Madness is put on the stack) - Uptap 3 lands - Frantic Search is done resolving - Now you're free to pay for the Madness of whatever you discarded.
Pretty sure.

While I appreciate all feedback, the old card frame restriction isn't something I'm going to budge on, so you guys don't need to suggest cards from the Modern era.
An uncommon package that includes some amount of Quiet Speculations (extra synergy with DA) and Roars is probably more consistent than Arrogant Wurms.
Also, for those not restricting their card choice based on card frame, Silent Departure is probably bonkers in this deck even without Quiet Speculation.
*Edit*
Also, in response to the OP, I imagine that Frantic Search is a common ban in Peasant Magic groups.

You might want to take a gander at this Pauper archetype, might give you some ideas:

As for cards... maybe try Harvest Wurm? If you didn't have your old boarder restraint, you could use Simic Growth Chamber to work with that.
[edit] some dredge cards might work...

I always loved this U/G "trounce-o-matic" madness deck. T1 for peasant format
