Welcome to the Deckbuilder Gauntlet! This is a contest of champions of deckbuilding. Anyone can join whenever they want and the rules are as follows:
1. I will start by posting a topic and requirements for the deck this week. Then anyone can post a deck following the requirements. After about 3 or 4 days, I will close the round for judging. Everyone who posted a deck in that round should judge.
2. Judging will be on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best. You can post comments about your card and what you thought it should get, but your judge will automatically count as a 3 out of 5.
3. At the end of judging, I will post the total scores for each contestant. The contestant with the most points wins that round. Then he or she has 2 days to post a new topic and new requirements for the next round. At the end of ten rounds, the top 8 overall scores will move on. There will be three more rounds of play with the eliminated players choosing the topic and judging.
4. The scores for various places are as follows:
1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 4 points
5th - 3 points
6th - 2 points
7th and on - 1 point
You can use any external source (including the forums) to help you with your deck. If you do get help from other people, please accredit them also.
Requirements:
Your deck must have 2-4 copies of Shapeshifter's Marrow
Your deck must be at least blue.
Your deck must be standard legal and must have 60 or more cards in it.
Have fun!
P.S. Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move it.
The idea is simple Enduring Renewal + Martyr of Sands=Lots o' Life or Enduring Renewal + Mulldrifter=Lots o' Cards. Both the marrow and mesa play a key role as win cons that you can draw w/ an active enduring renewal. Marrow may not always be the biggest wincon but w/ the life and card advantage of Enduring Renewal you probably won't need a LARGE win con, just a win con.
The point of this deck is also quite straightforward. Get Marrow out, and unless its a really good creature, bounce it back to your hand and try again, leaving the creature Marrow turned into in the gy.
I'll close the round around 10:00 PM American Time on Thursday.
My deck is really bad and is the obvious loser of the round and quite frankly deserves a 2 at best. But I take the 3.
GiftsTrix: Enduring Renewal is a great way to go. Great mana base, everything is great. Score is a five.
The Fallen Darkness: What you want to do with your deck and what it does don't quite match up. I would have stripped the mouth, the phyrexian, your deserts, the oblivion rings, and maybe even the wraths in favor of more bounce. Such as unsummon, because when Marrow is a creature, it's a creature. Sunken hope would also be reliable. I give this deck a three out of five.
Bib: Magus and sindbad seem uber random. Just seems like guile+counters w/ magus sindbad and marrow being random stuff that really needs to be cut in order for the deck to operate. Seeing as the marrow should really be cut in this deck I'm going to have to give it a 1 out of 5.
TFD: Surgespanner=:(. Having him in the deck really seems like having astral side in the list w/ only 4 cards w/ cycle. Random and cool tech but never gonna get off the ground. I like Idyllic tutor toolboxes but MD you only have 2 choices. 1 of story circle or imperial mask or something more disruptive would be nice. Overall it's a generic w/b deck w/ tutor for okay cards. Spike says 1 but Johnny says 5 for all of the possible interactions. So I, being the Johnny Spike I am says 3.

The first topic is: Make a deck based around Shapeshifter's Marrow.

Your deck must be at least blue.
Your deck must be standard legal and must have 60 or more cards in it.

GiftsTrix: Your deck should be the winner. You had the right idea with Enduring Renewal. 5/5
