Seems like I heard a rumor a year or so ago that Wizards was actively working on a new web-based engine, and had even shown it off a little to a few close associates to get opinions on it, but I haven't heard anything since.
I'd love to use MTGO on my iPad, and the current MTGO interface is kinda crappy, so a redesign would be rather nice.
So what does everyone think? Is it ever going to happen, or should I stop hoping?

The next major overhaul of MTGO was supposed to be browser based. You can even find videos of it on youtube.
They have since said that the next version of MTGO will not be browser based. I guess it wasn't working out, because of security issues or DRM or something. I guess we'll have to wait another X years to play MTGO on our macs...

Thanks for that link. I did try TeamViewer out, but it was so slow I didn't think it was worth annoying my opponents for it. I've heard that Splashtop runs a bit smoother, I might give that one a try.
There is one huge caveat here -- it might or might not work on macs.
It's being built on silverlight, which essentially is a web-based wrapper around WPF. WPF is the "Windows Presentation Framework", which is a new technology that can is used to designed GUIs.
Note the word "Windows" in there. WPF essentially is a replacement for Winforms in .NET, and .NET support outside of windows is, to make a long story short, not trivial.
There is currently a silverlight beta out there for OSX, not sure what browser, however it is still in the early stages and might not be completely stable with as complicated of a GUI as MODO is going to require.
I have no idea how Silverlight and Firefox get along.

I've heard some people use a PC emulator on their Macs to run MTGO. You could try that out...
