Yeah, that's great. They've succesfully fixed a format that ended almost two years ago. Congrats? Seriously, was there nothing better they could do here?
OK, I can see banning it somewhere... But once again, it's fun to ban cards in formats people play.

I'm really looking forward to this. I want to know why they thought banning cards in flipping Mirrodin block was even remotely relevant.

Yeah, Yodafan's pretty much a EDH pro.

I love how the DCI seems to pays more attention to formats which have been dead for two years than to an emerging Eternal format.*coughLegacycough*
Legacy is very VERY healthy, if u dont think u can win with just about anything in legacy, just as pikula.
The only card that sees overplay in legacy is FoW, but if they banned FoW in Legacy, combo would destory the format and make it like t1. Not that i would mind this. GoGo Combo

The internet is like drugs, it can be alot of fun, but most people on it say really stupid stuff
People were begging wizards to ban the jitte but the ugly idiot jitte fanboys were booing in a corner. So wizards, not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings, decided to wait a bit more on the jitte, but also listening to the 'artifacts are to good' chants, banned some powerhouse arttys. Now everyone is happy!
Dammit, I too am quite dissapointed to again not see Jitte banned. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait until Kamigawa rolls out before T2 tournaments are fun again. Not that they will be, considering the rest of Kamigawa was totally awesome other then that GD Jitte.
So what, August of next year maybe we will see Jitte banned in Kamigawa Block Constructed?
HAhaha. QFT.
With the Jitte, any deck that runs creatures(almost) runs Jitte. So that's probably their reasoning behind the banning in Tribal. I would've love to see it banned in T2, but since the format's fairly healthy, it doesn't warrant it.

Ex-Magic Rules Advisor
10/3/13 Once again I join the elite ranks of Magic Rules Advisors... I sell things on Ebay rarely.Look at them.
I realy don't know the problem of the people who complain about the Jitte not being banned in Standard. My personal opinion and observation is that the jitte is one of the few things that keeps Aggro alive in Standard and not being crushed by Control Decks that run Wildfire and/or Pyroclasm and/or Wrath of God.
Sure Jitte can almost be found in any aggressive deck, but unlike Skullclamp, it doesn't warp the format into a black hole. Due to the pressence of Pithing Needle and Putrefy, I think Standard with Jitte is still very balanced and Faith's Fetters are also having a part in that.
I'm not saying that Jitte isn't an extraordinary good card, I just say that it shouldn't be banned because it is good and wins games sometimes. If Wizards would do that they woul need to ban Meloku, Yosei, Wildfire and a whole slew of other cards along with it.
QFT. the jitteh is amazing, but it's no skullclamp. you might say that it's better than a skullclamp, but in todays formats, its not really. any deck with just a little bit of R or U in it can destroy the jitte. i mean, if it's getting to the point where you'd rather kill yourself than play jitte, put some mountains and a shattering spree on your sideboard:p
skullclamp was only good because it came when it did, mirrondin/onslaught, where there were 1/1 elves with simply amazing sac abilities. the draw 2 cards just made it even more succulent.

I agree with almost everything you say and disagree on one point. First, the agreements:
There's no way that Jitte is too good for Standard. It does not trump control strategies, and the format is not Jitte vs. anti-Jitte. It's not even the case that every beatdown deck plays it--RG beats with Burning-Tree Shaman would rather you hurt yourself for using the Jitte than bother with it itself. If you keep getting crushed by Jittes or the Jitte war, then play a deck that doesn't really care about facing it down.
Besides, I own a bunch. Boy, would a banning suck for me.
The point of disagreement: I don't know that Jitte really helps aggro all that much against control decks. It really shines in aggro mirrors (obviously), since it rewards you for connecting with your guys, which was your plan in the first place. I suppose that playing and equipping the Jitte is a good use of mana when you're trying to avoid overextending into Wrath, but that's more of a game one thing. A lot of the time, you want to bring Jitte out if it's not going to be killing creatures. Besides, they might board in Needles, and if they bring in stuff to hate on a card that's no longer in your deck, you win the sideboard war.
The banned list doesn't surprise me. The small changes do help for those who live in areas that play this smaller formats.

The reason I play black according to CrovaxtheCursed:
for those of you who have some sand in your collective ****** regarding Umezawa's Jitte still being legal in standard, i urge you to take a look at the format. if you'll notice all the top decks aren't running it.
URzatron-0 Jitte
UR Magnivore- 0 Jitte
Blue based control- 0 Jitte
and then further down the rabbit hole you have decks like ghazi-glare, boros aggro, etc. that are running jitte.
even the "awful" Ebony Owl Netsuke decks are doing better than decks like glare. and guess what, they're also running 0 copies of Jitte.
Just like to add to the WTF? crowd on the MBC bannings. Just. Why? Doeas anyone AT ALL play block constructed tournaments that aren't current?
Other than that, I agree that there needed to be no changes, so good job DCI, (Apart from the giant 'huh?').
Uh, i suspect there'll be a "block party" or "BYOB" event at the invitational where this'll be relevant.

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.

Ehn... funny that they'd add to the MBC banned list now, but whatever. All around, I agree with their changes though (rather, lack thereof).

silly wizards, when will they learn to ban the stuff that deserves to be banned...

actually Mirrodin Block Constructed wasn't that bad of a format. it wasn't just "omg, affinity mirrors everywhere"....but *shrug* who knows.
Some people just love Jace a little too much

Because Affinity would be pretty good without those bannings? There aren't many other blocks that could produce decks to sufficiently compete with it.
Alternate theory: On Friday, Wizards announces that they will be releasing a "long-lost" expansion to Mirrodin, titled "Cold Rust."
