Is Kamigawa giving us anything to deal with Affinity?
Disrupting Shoal can help a lot, even if it is more limited than FoW. Quash might have some effect if one of the power cards doesn't get played till turn 4-5. Ereadicate would be more helpful if Disciple was in fact NO black. Sickening Shoal might help some. Akki Raider and Patron of the Akki might help to keep them popping their lands. Blazing Shoal could help outrace them. Frostling can pop a Disciple. Sowing Salt can pop four lands from their game. Splinter can be useful, but will only count if you get to turn 4. Neko-Te might do something, but not likely.
Patron of the Nezumi. If you can get it out soon enough, this could have a powerful effect. He could be out on turn 4, but that's probally to late. If you hate up your sideboard with some accel such as Moxen, you might be able to get him out turn 3, maybe turn 2 if you're the luckiest man alive. I feel like I should make the deck that abuses this, but he doesn't seem that useful if you aren't facing a sacrifice heavy deck. I suppose I could build it as a deck to kill creatures, with a rat focus (some of the Ninjas make this plausible, perhaps), and have him as some nice fat with an extra effect. And then make a sideboard to force him out a turn or possibly two early. If that situation arised, would it be enough? All you'd need in hand is a mid-sized rat and enough mana to compensate. With one mox, it could be turn three. I don't know, I think I'm rambling now.

Why did I ever think a signature in comic sans was a good idea?
Why would you want to kill affinity? Anyway, I really don't think it'll happen. Wizards has been trying to gear stuff toward killing affinity, but it hasn't happened yet...
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
Er ... because we enjoy winning tournaments? Because Affinity is the most broken deck in years and it must be stopped?
I think they should just let it go already. It's been the dominant force, just let it finish out its reign.

Isn't there a rumored return all artifacts to hand card?
Although I don't think that would even stop affinity, after all, its AFFINITY!!!
Exactly. Let it gooooo Wizards. I play affinity, and their attempts to stop the deck are just annoying, not even effectual. As I've said before, I'd rather play in an environment where any deck can win, but let affinity have its fun, OK?

Hasn't affinity had enough fun already? I've only played against it once (in a casual multi-player game at that) and I'm already sick ot it. Anyway, if anything's going to beat affinity, it would have to be something very similar to Hurkyl's Recall. And even that would take a lot of luck. Anything else would probably just slow the deck down a little.

But won't that not do anything until you're nearly dead?
EDIT: Of course, nothing I mentioned will do much until you're nearly dead, either. If that had Splice onto Arcane at one mana, it'd be good.

That might help, but it's probably too slow. The reason I mentioned Hurkyl's Recall was because it only costs :1mana::symu:, as opposed to the speculated new version. Of course, we all know that Wizards will never reprint an artifact hoser that cheap unless they modified it and gave it some kind of drawback.

Affinity is a whole lot more broken than I think alot of people realize. While it might be as simple as
You want to beat affinity ? Play green or black or red or the three in the same deck
at FNM or against alot of the people who play with ravager on Modo, a good affinity player who has practiced with his deck and understands it* will win a good percentage of matches even to hate-filled decks, and even a subpar affinity player can get a draw that just says "oops, I win". Destroying affinity, therefore, is going to be extrememly difficult no matter what cards are printed, and none of them that have shone up so far seem likely do do that.
*Admittedly difficult; Affinity is one of the trickiest agro decks of all time; I've seen alot of players miss an on table kill because they didn't do the math right... stupid math:p
WW beats Affinity about 70/30 too, but the problem is that it can't beat anything else. Any deck can beat Affinity if you gear it for that purpose, but then you'll get beaten down by the rest of the field. (BG has no answer to Big Red)

Affinity will be gone before too long...but yeah..it is definitely too damned powerful. Then again..maybe there's some super-secret deck type no one stumbled across that can deal with it, but was thought up by the play testers. Dunno...but as they say, patience is a virtue.
yes, I want that damn thing GONE! the only arti deck I like is KCI, such a fun deck to fight and play, I have a blast even if I loos 9 of ten games... I love being a crazy casual combo player... (I think I'm a Spike/Jhonny -whatever one is the combo player... can't remember if it's Jon or Tim...-)

Yeah wizards is trying to put ravger hosers in but they won't work because they are to chicken to just come out and make a card that REALLY hoses. They'll need to ban summat, or something along those lines.

Wizards has been printing a lot of cards that sort of hose affinity. I think they want affinity to be a top tier deck, they just don't want it to dominate like it is now. The main problem with this is that the hosers they print are either to slow or to inefficiant to stop affinty. They should print a card that kills affinity or just let it ride out the rest of its days at the top. The artifact hosers that they are printing don't put a dent in affinity but kill every other artifact heavy deck to come out of Mirrodin.:misato:
Heh, that's kind of funny. But the "No original thought" part is definitely not true. My friend and I started building affinity as soon as Mirrodin came out. We didn't even have the Broodstar version. It was just kickass B/R. Ravager was just icing on the cake.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.

Screw raffinity may be played at any time you could play an instant.
when you play screw raffinity return all artifacts to their owners hands. artifacts cannot be played..ever again in the match. each player loses X life where X is the number of artifacts that cost 1 or less or have affinity. if arcbound ravager is returned, then that player loses every game they will ever play ever again in any format in any game
i think something on that nature is in order. anyone want to shop that? i would love you for ever...in a completely heterosexual way or maybe homosexual...i dont really care all that much
we need to start an anti-raffinity league like la resistance in the south park movie...except not stupid
