This is my first ever EDH deck, when I realised how many bird cards there are I absolutely had to make this deck (birds are my favourite animal).
As it is my first deck I would love to have some constructive criticism and pointers on how to improve it.
It currently is around $100Au or $60 USD and I would love to get this number down if possible or at least not add to it.
Although I do already own Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer and Pride of the clouds - maybe I cut locus field?
Also, I was also wondering how to get my commander more involved and just in general increase the synergy within the deck, (and the power as well haha).
Almost forgot - here is the deck - http://scryfall.com/@VortexFalcon00/decks/9a25af6f-d8dc-4684-8204-f2c49081223e
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this and help me improve this expensive pile of cardboard, it really means a lot to me.
So I have lots of non-birds in my bird tribal that is to maximise deveri, I still need some spells but if my spells are also creatures then they can attack to trigger the untap.
Okay let's take a look at your deck....
hmm honestly you don't need ramp, your birds ramp when you hit people with them, so basically you want to play 1 and 2 mana birds as many as you can get. They don't actually have to be good because Deveri makes them good. then always play deveri as early as possible to start to snowball away from your opponents.
You want powerful card draw rather than just cantrips (your birds can cantrip actually I have a bunch of nice ones). I am turning card draw up to 11 with all my coastal piracy effects but man is it fun to just completely overwhelm people with dinky birds.
So the thing your deck is lacking the most is ways to recover from wraths, you have a few counterspells I guess, but what if you don't have them when you need them. Instead you are going to want ways to recover your birds and get them back into play. I am a big fan of Dusk//Dawn since it is also wrath that avoids your creatures. You always have to consider "what if someone plays wrath of god here" and how you are going to play around and recover from it and not over extend into it.
I am not a fan of destroy all creature effects in a creature-based deck, there are a few ways to avoid killing your own stuff with your wrath. such as Cyclonic rift, wash out there are a bunch of white ones that only kill big creatures and one that each player chooses a creature type and wraths the rest which I can't remember. In any case I actually play without wraths because I am the danger, I am way faster at deploying scary air force than anyone else at the table they have to wrath me...
my mana base is expensive don't worry about it too much, just that I have lots of useful utility lands and stuff.
Thanks for the help and changes, your decks are so good I got so many good cards from them. I think the link above auto updates so you can see my new and improved version. I took your advice and got rid of most of my ramp and board wipes, added dawn//dusk and wash out, got rid of some of the cantrip card draw and added coastal piracy, on top of all the other cards that I saw in your deck that looked awesome.
I really can't thank you enough for the help, I am so excited to play with this deck someday.
