I had one ages ago when the prerecon first came out, so bear with my old-tech knowledge on the deck.
But before we even get to any of that, I would try to find a motto, strategy, grand aim of the deck/build/archetype, and what's the wincon. I'm not sure if i described it right, but for example, my blind seer deck goes like:
motto - colours and types are my thing!
strategy - counter-control game.
aim - using colour-changing, type-changing gimmicks to control the board. king crab and douse comes to mind.
wincon - stormtide leviathan beatdown.
That way, when I'm looking at cards that can go into the deck, i can specifically compare it to my deck specification, then judge whether or not it should be in or not.
My old riku deck was:
motto - value! what's better than 1 coiling oracle? TWO coiling oracles!
strategy - tempo/out-valuing the table
aim - land riku, copy all the stuff i throw onto the table till i win or lose.
wincon - whatever i have on the table, beating down.
It wasn't a very good deck, but there we have it. So what's your vision for the deck? we should probably start there.
With spellslinging with Riku you want to look at a lot of the put lands into play and draw card effects. Explore and Growth Spiral seem like fantastic things to be doing. The Rampant Growth / Cultivate / Skyshroud Claim effects are also probably still fantastic.
There is the option of if you want to delve into destroying and disrupting lands as well. Plow Under is a huge punch if you target a player with it especially if copying it. There are other similar versions such as Mwonvuli Acid-Moss / Reap and Sow as well if you want to run that sort of thing.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I'm not sure what the price point is for this deck in total, but I would guess that it's around $250ish. If it isn't, the first cuts I would make are in the mana base.
Otherwise, I think this is a decent starting point. It's got a lot of fun spells to cast and some really strong synergies. There's an infinite mana combo with Dramatic Reversal and [/CARD]Isochron Scepter[/CARD] so that you can use some of the X spells to kill players outright. The dream, of course, is to get Thousand-Year Elixir running and then start chaining a bunch of spells for value so that you can eventually Lightning Bolt with 30 or 40 copies of it to kill the table. Or Explode the table to death.
EDIT: Clearly I just need to build a Thousand-Year Storm deck and move on with my life. This is maybe the 5th or 6th post I've made about that enchantment...
I currently have landfall Karametra, Slot Machine Grenzo and jank Sasaya.
Looking forward to hearing
**Quick update: I think I want to build Riku, specifically a spellslinger version, any suggestions there?
