This deck was inspired by Sheldon Menery's "Ruhan - You did this too yourself" deck he shared back in 2012 and updated once in 2013. I've added a number of new cards that fit perfectly into the deck, and really focused on the "spell slinger" play style. The goal is to be reactive and have fun with big surprising plays my opponents aren't expecting - using their own momentum in the game and redirecting to another opponent, or back into their face instead. I took out cards that focused on Control Magic effects except for Aura Thief because he is awesome :). Possibly going to add Forced Fruition or Assault Suit someday if I can find the room.
New additions include: Comeuppance: Perfectly fits the theme of Aikido decks. Deflecting Palm: Another new card that slots perfectly into place. Illusionist's Gambit: Oh, what a wonderfully fun card! "Don't attack me! Attack... uh... someone else!" Incite Rebellion: The deck struggles if players go wide since I don't run a lot of sweepers and my spells usually like to target big fatties. Cause a riot, token players will pay. Domineering Will: This card is extremely political since it can target any player and any creatures. Lot's a fun and value for this deck. Fact or Fiction: I've got the FTV version from Terese Nielsen and I really wanted to run it. It's draw that let's the opponent choose their demise so it fits thematically Plagiarize: The deck really lacks card draw, so why not take it from a greedy opponent? Mirrorweave: What I'm really hoping for is to cause some insane shenanigans... the possibilities are there, but I just haven't drawn this card in a game yet. Rite of Replication: Again, shenanigans and value. Bosejui, Who Shelters All: In a spell-heavy deck that can be wrecked with a single Counterspell, this card is key against blue players. Arcane Lighthouse: I need to be able to target big beaters and Voltron generals or else my spells don't work. Diluvian Primordial: A decent flyer who can help turn an opponents cards against them. He may or may not remain in the deck, let's see how he plays out a bit more. Snapcaster Mage: I own a copy and the deck plays LOTS of spells. Mogg Maniac: A second copy of Boros Reckoner. Nucklavee: Another creature that may or may not stay in, depending on how he plays out. Temple Bell: The deck needs more card draw and I actually don't mind if other players get out of control, OP decks are what this deck is designed to handle. Also helps encourage players not to come after me early in the game.
Notable Wins:
Recently tried this deck out for the first time and won a game off the back of a Reflect Damage to someone's Savage Twister, dealing 192 damage to his face.
Next game I won off the back of a well-timed Illusionist's Gambit when the table thought they had me trapped like a rat. Everyone needed to read the card, of course - great times!
