Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. The Merfolk theme might actually make the deck playable so just using the usual suspects of modern Fish, you should play Master of Waves, Lord of Atlantis, Master of the Pearl Trident, Harbinger of the Tides, Tidebinder mage, and Merrow Reejerey. And just because I don't know what other deck you could play it in, you should try out Razorfin Hunter. Actually he might not be bad with all the untap effects merfolk give. Deepchannel Mentor will probably always be a nice finisher. A few more merfolk, Wake Thrasher, Silvergill Adept, Wanderwine Prophets, Cosi's Trickster, Merrow Harbinger, Reef Shaman, Sandbar Merfolk, Seasinger, Surgespanner, Tidal Courier, Waterfront Bouncer, Whirlpool Warrior.
With all the wave cads like, Breaking Wave, Whelming Wave, Displacement Wave You might as well have Keranos, God of Storms on you side too!
Fishliver Oil if you need some more sunscreen and make it useful with Sea's Claim, Aquitect's Will, and Streambed Aquitects
Now if you do want to catch a few extra sun rays, I'm not saying it's healthy, but there is always cringe-worthy Radiate.
Flame Wave to finally pay some respect to the dude who had the balls to surf the wave in the art.
So, I got way more into this deck than I should have and thanks to you I'm heading to the beach now. Hope you're happy.
I'm considering adding Zada, Hedron Grinder with some target spells like Artful Dodge, Expedite, and Seize the Day.
