Bit of backstory: I've always loved tribal. Also, weird rules interactions. What general could be better for tribal + weird rules interactions than a Bird lord that can give Banding?
I also partially pimped this deck, since almost none of the birds in this deck cost more than $0.10 so their foils are about $0.20 to $0.50. I also focused on old-border foils because I started playing in 9th edition so I have few old-border cards and even fewer old-border foils.
As you can tell, this deck is pretty much most of the birds in mono-white commander identity (although I really should put a Squadron Hawk in here somewhere just to confuse everyone), plus White Goodstuff. This is also my more casual EDH deck - For when it's not the proper atmosphere for "Jarad, Sutured Ghoul, everyone at the table loses 60 life" (or "Riku, Palinchron, infinite mana comet storm")
Fun interactions:
Soraya + Glarecaster + Swooping Talon + 9 mana = Hit you with your own Blightsteel
Land Tax + having basic lands in my deck
Mana Tithe + someone not expecting counterspells from white (Currently using full-art version, but I'm having an artist friend alter a non-full-art version to have the Spanish Inquisition from Monty Python on it.)
Glarecaster + 6 mana + uninformed opponent
Epic moments:
Playing Planechase EDH and ending up on The Zephyr Maze and alpha-striking repeatedly with a swarm of now-3/1 or better bird tokens. (I'd cast Seller of Songbirds, Battle Screech, and flashbacked Battle Screech)
Again playing Planechase EDH, but that doesn't matter this time: I "overextended" swinging into the Ghave, Guru of Spores player with my other irrelevant flying creature and Glarecaster. Ghave player says "Oh, well... Turn sideways, swing everything (well over 40 points of damage) at you". I do my best to keep a straight face while I tap 6 mana and say "Stop hitting yourself." He ended up being forced into Pathing his own Elesh Norn just to not deal lethal damage to himself.
I also have an EDH bird themed deck; Kangee for those casual kitchen table games. As for enchantments, I included Shared Triumph to pump only birds; I find it amusing to call that out when played.

Good call! I'll probably replace Crusade with that, once I can get my hands on one. Relating to Shared Triumph of Birds: My typical battlecry with this deck is "Caw caw, [Samuel L. Jackson's favorite word that we can't say here]."

A funny FYI about my Kangee deck that is touched on in your OP, I bought a foil Sword of Light and Shadow for the deck and the LGS owner threw in all the foil birds they had; nobody asks for them and they just take up space. So you're right, foil birds are pretty cheap to pick up.

Crusade would be the one I'd switch out, too.
