My first time posting a deck, so apologies if my formatting is clunky or anything of the sort.
What follows is my own take on, I guess, a standard strategy when playing Animar, Soul of Elements--bounce creatures; get a fat general; stomp people. I play in a group that typically has 4-5 people games and this deck is able to hold its own in that sort of setting. I may not win often, but I don't often feel like I am getting completely blown out or the deck is dramatically under preforming.
I would love some feedback as to how I may be able to tool this deck and make it more efficient, or if anything looks wonky please say so. I think, more than anything, I could really benefit from some fresh eyes looking the deck over.
A quick note or two:
1) I have preemptively added a Maelstrom Wanderer as I am planning to get a copy and play it.
2) I am a bit of a budget player. $5-$6 is about as much as I am willing to spend on a card so while Tooth and Nail would be a great addition, it won't be happening any time soon.
-I am thinking about dropping Pentavus in exchange for, potentially Psychosis Crawler due to the fact that I play a healthy amount of card draw. I don't think the card has the potential to be a win condition or anything of the sort, but it certainly applies pressure in a nice way and, unlike Pentavus, I do not need to pay mana to take advantage of its ability. If I were to add the Crawler, I think it would be also necessary to include Consecrated Sphinx because the two work together in a real nasty fashion.
-When I first put this deck together there was a much larger emphasis on counters on everyone--more grafting, proliferation, etc.--but I have since moved away from that strategy. As such, I am unsure how useful Plaxcaster Frogling is at this point.
Maelstrom Wanderer is so sick in Animar, I run Tooth and Nail in my Animar, but some days I wonder why, I never need it, and when I use it, its just to pull Primeval Titan out or something to ramp with.
Hahaha yeah, I am super excited to actually play Maelstrom Wanderer. Am also considering adding Etherium-Horn Sorcerer as it has the built in bounce and cascade effect, but am unsure how "worth it" the card, as a whole may be (being an artifact creature it won't interact well with Cloudstone Curio, etc.).
